GH: Discussion for the Month of July

I think it's a combo of both. I have yet to see the "great" acting people say CD does. He does a whole lot of nothing onscreen. And Michael is too boring for who his parents (AJ, Carly, Sonny) are and what he's been through. And this current writing him as if he's some ackward, unexperienced teen certainly isn't helping. I gues sit's to get people to warm up to Starr who is also being written like a teen instead of an adult who went through so much as a teen.

I actually am starting to like Micheal now for what it is worth. I find him infinitely more tolerable then LW's version of Carly or Sonny and I think he is the best "teen" on the show by far they finally found some ground to mine for him because what he was doing before with Abby, becoming Sonny Jr. and the like simply did not work for him. The further away from the mob the better off his character is. I like the show more each passing episode as GH pushes itself further away from being mob central and focuses more on character problems and character issues. I like the development we are seeing within Luke, Johnny, Patrick, Maxie, Kate and others as of late. Todd's growing on me, Lulu is finally being utilized properly for the first time since she dated Dante, and I even like the rivalry between Anna and Heather.

The show pushed away the mob aspect some time ago before Cartooni even came but the mob affiliated characters, Sam, Sonny, Jason, Johnny, Kate are still always front and center. Now we've added in two new mob characters with Trey and Joe Jr for Sonny vs most recent lame mob villian.

How about we shift some focus to the hospital and those characters and stop just giving the good characters scraps here and there. How about we develop some family relationships? Write real romance?

Heather: "The police think I buried Anthony Zacchara's body in the woods."

Todd: "You did bury Anthony Zacchara's body in the woods."

Heather: "Since when are you such a stickler for details? I need an alibi" LMAO

Still enjoying Trey a lot!

Not sure if I like Molly's newly snark attitude! She's acting more like Kristina.

'Piph thinking "Ramon Santiago" stole the pills. I was rolleyes.gif

Patrick's story is nothing interesting

Understatement of the year, courtesy of Carly: "I'm not the best parent"

Getting more and more sad over the continued sabotage of Johnny. Todd's gunning for him & so is Anna. I could barely enjoy the Johnny/Lulu scenes

After all they have done to Johnny, its now hard for me to enjoy the Johnny and Lulu story, which I've waited for them to start back up for so long. If only it were a few months sooner.

I'm assuming the mobster with the heart of gold is Jason? I'd rather take the former.

How does Olivia know that Johnny has crossed a line inside of himself and is filled with all of this darkness? She hasn't had scenes with him in forever. What is she talking about? I guess she is only on today to prop Dante. I wish Heather would just off both of them, they are the worst editions on this show from Bensonhurst.

I guess I completely blocked Memphis out. I don't remember Johnny having anything to do with her. The last psycho I remember him hiding was Lisa.

Boy they realyl were laying it on thick today with Luke. Lulu is his only reason for living? The thing that worries him the most about not being free is dissappointing her? The words coming out of his mouth were complete and utter BS.

Im confused. Is Joe in PC or AC?

I think alot of us did. My bad, it wasnt last month, but her last scenes with Johnny aired in May, at least I think this was the last one

Today was seriously vile.

Kristina's aspiring to be Kim K was degrading

Lulu flirting like ditz was awful

Dante was acting like a caveman

Todd as Jason was ridiculous

Last but not least them trying to make Joe sympathetic.

    • Yikes -a Cane/Phyllis sex scene. Why was there no warning before this episode aired? And of course Phyllis had sex with her bra on.  Had to laugh when Cane, trying to think of Phyllis' password to sneak into her laptop, talks out loud so we (and she) can be clued into what's happening. What is Phyllis' financial standing? At one point she was wealthy enough to run a hotel-which she gave up in an instant(can't remember why-some inane reason) Now she's scrounging around for a job with Cane. The many residents of the GCAC who are living in hotel rooms don't seem to do anything to personalize their space-no photos, books etc. The GCAC must have a strict policy on that. Nikki did look good today. Still find her hairstyle a little dowdy though.
    • Then 87 is the year you're looking for. Vanessa leaves town in Jan 88. When I saw Jenny counseling Dinah about George making the pass at her, all I could think was that Van would be pissed Ross' latest fling was advising her daughter. Cop or not.
    • As much as I hate Phyllis, seeing Billy Flynn in those boxers briefs in today's episode, has me almost tolerating her. BF looks

    • Dear sweet June, you'll get it right eventually.  In the meantime it's a good chuckle.

    • Damn, Leslie went in on Shanice... poor girl! Leslie really can't handle stress or certain emotions well, she lashes out. I also think it's weird she wants to know so many details about Eva's love/sex life. Vernon was sweet to June. It was nice (realistic) to see a customer complain to her though while she's still trying to establish herself. I'll be that guy, but for me personally, my enthusiam/excitement over the show has stalled yet again over the last couple weeks. For the majority, it seems like we're in a holding pattern until Winterfest. It's like they don't want to rock the boat or do much until then, which leaves us in a quiet period here. Are sweeps a thing still these days? Seems odd that we're having a slow November. That ending was good, but I saw that coming... in theory it should have a quick resolution, but I'm guessing Leslie will expose it at Winterfest and it'll get throw out of proportion haha.
    • Yes. Why? I don't really care. Vanessa is also acting dumb, trying to run between tables, on a date with Ross in one room and a business meeting with Alan in another.  One of the few times Van is written as less than the smart woman she was.
    • I've been specifically looking for the episodes for Ross and Van together, because they essentially both raise Dinah at that period and the recaps around her typically avoid the Dorie years, the carnies, or Alan-Michael and Cam. I'm really just trying to trace a throughline between Paige, Wendy, and Gina. The last two are "easy," but it just messes with my timeline when Dinah thinks Alan-Michael would kill Ross. Then again, that Alan-Michael slept with his own stepdaughter, so...
    • Anyway...they literally mentioned the secret room today on Days and yes, this show needs a Kristen lesbian story lol.
    • Yes, they did a 'premiere' of Maggie's death episodes at the ArcLight theatre in Los Angeles, arguably then the nicest movie theatre chain in the USA. Plus, Suzanne and Deidre were in a ton of scenes together during this time. Whatever happened between them happened after 2004.
    • There are episodes with Jenny (Mary Ellen Stuart) that she was in pre-writers strike.. and I know that she lasts until at least August 1988. It's a shame that the show didn't try pairing her with Rusty since the two had more chemistry than she had with Ross and that he had with Rose.
