Just as long as it's not Barry. We cannot have none of the brothers Gibb left.

It probably will be another singer or someone in the music business though.

The music world has been hit real hard this year.

Whitney

Don Cornelis (sp?) of Soul Train

Levon Helm (Lead singer of The Band)

Dick Clark (from American Bandstand)

Donna Summer

and now Robin Gibb.

Of course, we knew this was coming for quite some time... but it still doesn't make it any easier. What incredible talent and unique voice:

During the 1971-74 period, they did a ton of songs where Robin and Barry trade off leads, Robin sounds incredible on this one... and it's most appropriate.... have the kleenex ready for this one.

Their brilliant 1969 album "Odessa" has some of Robin's best work on it... i've got all their albums from the Bill Shepherd period of 1967-1972, and it's some of the best orchestral pop ever made. There are two standouts from "Odessa" (an unusual album in that it came in a red velvet gatefold jacket)

"Odessa (City On the Black Sea)"

RIP.

I wish I could say I was a fan of the Bee Gees, but I wasn't. Though I do admire them, particularly their very early material.

You forgot Davey Jones.

I think the Bee Gees were great, they were unfairly discarded on the disco backlash. The Saturday Night Fever album was brilliant, and The Bee Gees and Donna Summer were the two main pillars of the disco craze. It's sad to see them go.

And this one perhaps can be mocked because it is such a cliche disco song, but the opening hook is so catchy. You just have to hear the first few notes and you just see John Travolta walking down the street

And this is a beautiful song which Robin had to sell in the opening

I loved the BeeGees. I was crazy about How Deep is Your Love and Night Fever back in the day. I remember Stayin' Alive as if it was yesterday. No one can mock this music. The BeeGees and Donna, ah the memories this music brings back, it makes me think of ABBA and Debbie Harry.

RIP, Robin.

They always say things happen in 3s. I wonder if there will be a third death soon

Whoops, I forgot about the Beastie's Boys death earlier this month. So there it goes. Gibb was the third death
