Unpopular Opinions: 2012 Edition

I'll go first:

B&B

- While not perfect, the show is currently in the best shape it's been in since 2003.

Y&R

- Genie Francis is terrific as Genevieve Atkinson. I know she wasn't well liked in her first few months on her show, but I'm currently watching June 2011 episodes and I LOVE her campy take on the character, despite the overall wretchedness of the storyline. Although I never saw Francis on GH, so I don't have that to compare it to. I'd love to see her on B&B in a Sally Spectra/Jackie Marone type role.

- Phyllis is one of very few characters to actually flourish under MAB (save for the Lucy custody madness). And of course, I still consider La Stafford to be the best actress in daytime.

- Maura West was AT LEAST as miscast as Diane as Shari Shattuck was as Ashley.

The difference is - Todd is hated by many. Most people consider him to be scummy. Sonny, however, is viewed as some epic hero that everyone should just love because he's the mobster "with the heart of gold" and he only does bad things because of the evil Deke.

That may be the case but Im saying dont act like Todd pays for his crimes and doesnt get free passes for the heinous things he does bc that isnt the case. He has a god complex and does what he wants bc he always finds a way to circumvent the law and rise above it.

I think both characters are written more as victims than bad guys but people did hate Sonny but those people tended to be the shows resident losers like the Quartermaines, Ric, Jax, Scott, and recast Lucky

Yeah Sonny is hated by others in town but unfortunately it tends to be those used to prop him up

The main reason Todd is hated is because Victor took over the Todd role. If RH had stayed in the role I don't think Todd would have been hated by most of the people in his life.

Here's one:

I think James DePaiva was the sexiest actor in the history of OLTL. And not just in the 80s--he was hot as hell to the end, and he's essentially the same age as both my parents (but I tend to find many older men on TV hotter than guys my own age). I was 13 years old in 2002 and I preferred him over almost any other guy on the show (although I also loved Ty Treadway, he's obviously younger than JDP).

Many find him gorgeous, but usually put him below others from the same show.

And another:

No matter how much VMG/Brenda's return flopped last year, the "Brenda's Back" promo on Soapnet is too ridiculously cute for words:

LOL..AMC's Adam Chandler is old enough to be my grandfather and I find him hot in a certain kind of way. When Annie married him, I could defiently see what she saw in him and Im younger than her....lol

When I used to watch GL, I LOVED Grant Aleksander, too. Same thing there--my parents' age bracket all the way.

I did have a thing for Wesley Ramsey (Sam), though.

And I always found Roscoe Born gorgeous, too, which felt so wrong given how evil Mitch was, lol.

And Jerry verDorn wub.png .

I don't know if this is unpopular or not, but on GH I think the guy who plays Dante and the guy who plays Johnny look entirely too old for the parts they're playing. I am assuming, given who their parents are, that both characters are supposed to be early/mid 20s, I see at least early 30s.

Dominic Zamprogna and Brandon Barash both turn 33 this year (as well as I, Lord help me!). They haven't really been too specific over last couple years about Dante's age, but they've been VERY adamant about letting us know that Olivia and Dante are 15 years apart. So, whatever age Olivia's supposed to be (and we'll never know for this exact reason), minus 15 from that. As for Johnny, when Kristina was using Johnny to make Sonny angry, they kept alluding to Johnny being closer to 30 preying on 17 year old Kristina. However, with the rewrite that Johnny was Claudia's son, it's hard to determine if they're attempting to de-age Johnny or SORAS Claudia in absentia.

I guess we'll find out whenever she comes back from the dead and is recast. ph34r.png

Speaking of GH:

Even with the weird look he had during this last return, I would probably STILL pick Tristan Rogers over practically any other man on the show (although BB would make it a very difficult contest for me).

DZ's okay looking, but that's about it, IMO.

Amen. He's never been classically good looking but he has a ton of charisma and IMO has gained sex appeal as he's aged. I don't understand why on GH he dyed his hair since his last appearances his hair was salt and pepper. He was terrific on vapid Y&R and he and Jess Walton stood out over any of the current pairings on that show. What a waste.

On another note (well, not really), I just read the distressing news that that little turdlet, Kristina, is coming back to GH.

Though many of her haters attributed their loathing of her to their dislike of the actress, I'm the only one that never thought that LA was to blame for the atrociousness of the character. The terrible writing of her is the reason why that character sucks and if that article is any indication, she will continue to fvcking suck.

They did more of it up until the mid 2000s. The Q's were not the center of the show but they had more presence. Characters like Skye, Emily, Dillon were all written for. Nikolas and Alexis had more story.I don't think any of that made the show any better.

Well I have nothing to say to that then to just disagree. The show was much healthier in my opinion back when the show had other characters except Jason, Carly and Sonny on 24/7.

I'd tap his 1000 year old ass any day of the week.

I disagree that voice was greating and she had some annoying tics.

In think the show had a better cast of characters then and more varied story I'm just not sure the writing was that much better. I do agree the canvas was better and for me a tad better with more Quartermaine focus but I can't say the stories were much good.
