Wasn't the character at first being developed by James Harmon Brown and Barbara Esensten but prior to the arrival they were fired and Charles Pratt Jr brought in. I think they were going to make the character different and more aless wrote for Beth Ehlers since they had written for her on GL. I not sure but that it stuck in my mind for some reason.

Ehlers wasn't sparking with RPG/Jake. She was sparking with JM/Brot. Green or not, she sould have appreciated and made the most of that instead of whining.

I didn't see that at all. All I could see was a novice in his 20s playing opposite a 40 year-old veteran actress, supposedly as equals. I didn't know if we were supposed to think Taylor was younger or Brot was older but, either way, it just flatlined for me. It's nothing against the concept of older/younger characters being paired romantically but it's usually mentioned or incorporated into the story somehow. This was more like trying to pretend it didn't exist and his lack of experience just made it worse.

Something else I think may have been significant as to why the character failed: Taylor came off almost immediately as harsh. angry, damaged, etc. and the audience had to just take her that way, having not gone along for the ride, so to speak. When Harley on GL came off that way (whether it was Ehlers herself or not,) you knew why or could imagine why because you had seen what came before. Whether you liked it or not, you could see Harley's reasons for being that way. Sometimes I think introducing a character that way (bitter and angry without having seen her backstory), who's supposed to be a "good guy", not a villain, can be a turnoff.

Too bad they didn't do more with Taylor & Tad.

BEh was not sacrificed for anyone

She flopped and badly so, mostly cause of the writing and the character she played. Doesn't help that Pratt, who created her character said he found her character boring

EGO!!!! this is coming from a long BE/GL fan and i may go off topic but to me it was her attitude! GL spent YEARS treating her as the queen of the show, basically putting her on everyday and shoving her into story after story! she made that comment about not being able to "work without ricky". im sorry, but what about all them other costars she worked with for years before him? that must have been a slap in the face to the ones that were still there! and yes i agree GL may have been hell to work with it's last two yrs but the first chance she got to jump to a different show, she did it! where was the loyalty to a show that made your career and spent yrs focusing around your character? when it became tough she left, plain and simple! i have more respect for the actors who stuck it out till the end but she thought she was gonna leave and make it 'big' at a much more bigger budgeter AMC and basically they used and abused her. sorry beth dont have no sympathy for you and that comment u made at the emmy's, right next to the GL table when u first joined AMC about it "going to be a great time", well they left you hanging! i know GL would have left her with the cancellation but at least she wouldn't have come across as such a SNOB!!!! sorry for the rant but thats how i feel!

I don't blame ANY actor for jumping ship. I agree with Zimmer; GL should've been cancelled in 2004. After reading and hearing about the ridiculousness of GL behind the scenes for its final 5 years (especially the Peapack part) I don't blame anyone. Look at Laura Wright. She's gotten 3 additional years of work out of her jump from GL to GH.

I still say that she would have been much more successful as Liza and probably would have been much bigger on AMC. and would have fit in better as Liza than Luner did

I know it for a fact, and I understand tone on the internet is hard to discern, so let me just say my tone was merely meant to convey matter-of-factness, not any kind of snarkiness. So if it was taken that way, I apologize.

JR Martinez became well liked by viewers, from what I remember reading most didn't seem impressed with BEh or her acting.

I always thought it funny that Pratt would think that BEh's storyline was boring given he wrote it LOL

Off topic but I hate that every Amanda couple is called "Jamanda". It's incredibly difficult to differentiate between her past relationships because all of her leading men's first names start with J. Jaime, JR, Jake, Jonathan, etc.
