I don't think his return is going to work, just going off of looks I don't feel there is going to be any chemistry between him and the Massey. Before with the actors who played Will you believed in some way that he came from Lucas. But now he is so obviously a Brady child and resembles Sami and Marlena too heavily to the point where it just doesn't seem plausible that Lucas is his father. I also don't think their acting styles will mesh together. He favors the Sweeney/Hall way of acting from what I have seen. I just no longer believe there will be a father/son dynamic, which was already a problem even back in 06/07'.

I really don't understand why they are bringing Lucas back. They already had a similar dynamic with Safe. Safe and Lumi are virtually the same couple. This really is one return I could do without. Especially if they are just going to do Lumi for the thirteenth time. I don't think it's adding anything to the show.

I disagree with Lumi being the same couple as Safe. Will has a very different dynamic with his father, who more often leant toward the Kate/Sami side of bad behavior and Lucas is a darker more well-rounded character IMO. His ties to the canvas make his return a lot more exciting to me.

I totally disagree that Lucas & Sami are any way like Rafe & Sami. Lucas is a well developed character with nearly 20 years on canvas. Rafe is a rent a cop with little personality and a one size fits all disposition.

Lucas also has excellent chemistry and back story with Kate, Carrie, Austin, Maggie and Victor. I think Datillo is a very decent actor and I enjoy his work. His praise for his scenes with Lauren Koslow has me excited, Kate and Lucas have one of my favourite mother/son relationships in daytime ever. Such chemistry between those two actors.

And with Lisa Rinna's Billie returning I think there's room for him to grow. Perhaps he'll be a spoiler for Brady and Madison?

You must have missed the fact that BD has worked with Chandler In Early 2010 before he left & again In June 2010 when Alice died. The fact that CM is Blond & BR has Dark hair means nothing when it comes to chemistry. No mean to offend but that idea holds no water

I don't think it's impossible to believe the actors may struggle - I see little connection between Sweeney and Massey and it's been two years - but I do think Lucas is a needed dynamic if they want to write something for Will beyond yet more tantrums. I don't buy his relationship with Rafe, and it seems like the show has dropped that anyway, along with having Rafe move away from Sami even without knowing Sami slept with EJ.

I didn't see any of this in the last four years of his stint on the show. From 2005-2009 the character of Lucas was useless, he did little if anything in terms of impacting story. Moreover he is always used as a pawn by some other character and he is always made a fool of. Nicole, Sami, Carrie, Chole, Kate, etc. It's just a never ending cycle and if he is brought back only to further perpetuate that foolishness then I don't see what's the point in him coming back.

Ever since I watched Days he was pretty much only used as a security blanket for the Brady women (Sami or Carrie) take your pick and used as a ping pong ball between two women in Salem. If they actually do something with the character and elaborate more on his darker side or hell do anything else other then what they usually do with him then I do think that would be more interesting. But as it stands I don't see the point of bringing Lucas back so he can wring his hands over Sami every couple of scenes and yell at her for not acting the way he wants her to.

You just summed up Lucas' entire characterization from 2004/5 until his most recent exit.

I still have a two year gap to watch through to catch up to the present that's being shown so that is entirely possible. Still from what I have seen of Massey's style I don't think it would coincide well with Datillo's way of performing his material. Again it's not just coloring that I am talking about, but the sheer fact that they look nothing alike and their styles seem to have nothing in common from what I have seen. I don't see them having good chemistry or working well together as a father/son dynamic. Add to the fact that they have already been estranged from each other for years and that just further compounds the issue. The Will and Lucas relationship has been minimized for so long that I think that's a problem in itself and another hill the Lucas character will have to climb. Then again the only one I have seen who has a real familial bond with Will thus far in terms of chemistry/warmth is Hall.

Lucas and Rafe are the same. Give or take.

Should they be? No. Absolutely not. But when Lucas got with Sami he became the morality police and rode his high horse of perfection casting judgemt down. He is worse than rafe actually, because he has no room to judge anyone. All of his past deeds were swwpt under the rug or blamed on Kate. he was perfect and Sami wasnt worthy and he let her know it, often. I never got the appeal of them. of all her partners, he is by far her worst match. Id take Brandon back over him.
