2012 NAACP Image Awards Nominations

Exactly. And I know they could have nominated some latinos like Jordi Vilasuso or Florencia Lozano, but it is what it is.

I guess they figure the ALMA Awards will take care of them.

Tatyana Ali won last year? I'm glad she is Y&R's most criminally underused actress who shows ten times the potential that Khalil did.

And what about Angell Conwell, the promising actress and character Leslie who got shoved to pave the way for Debbi Morgan coming to Y&R?

She is so precious.

I don't see why they didn't add Destiny, Shaun, Vivian, and the Evans parents while they were at it. You know Phylicia slapping the fillings out of Nora's mouth would have been a crowd pleasing clip.

Baby Lucy has my reaction. I didn't even know the real name of the guy who played Ben on AMC.

Maybe this is why Debbi went to Y&R so you could finally get one of these NAACP awards.

These choices are odd. The obvious choices would have been Debbi and Darnell. But also - Shenell Edmonds, Sean Blakemore, Angell Conwell, and Sonya Eddy would have made more sense than this.

She's won before.

When did Debbi win?

I saw on some website a banner for Shenell supporting her to be on the ballot.

Was T. Ali really only on 4 times last year? According to IMDb (which is never the most reliable)

I bet she gets another nomination come 2013. I couldn't with her win last year.

She looked genuinely surprised when she won, she knew it was some foolishness as much as the rest of us did. Darnell thankfully won too and he would have/should have won this year if he was nominated.

Ali was on 7 times in 2011. With IMDb someone has to submit information. I am one of the few who submits data for the soaps and I was way behind so that could explain a few of her appearances not being processed yet (she appeared once in Nov and twice in Dec) or I did not have her air dates.

The process really is based on personal likes rather than actual judging of performances. The one year I voted, I compared performances online and made my decision like that, to try and be objective. There has always been a heavy Y&R bias, even when other soaps had minority actors turning in worthy performances.

LOL SFK I was too! I'm like Debbie! Then when they said her name I was on the floor... I bet she knew that ish was shenanigans but hey a win is a win to some people. Thanks jcar03!

Agreed 100% ReddFoxx it has to be because there's just no way with some of these wins and even some of these nominations. They pick from the bottom of the barrel and then slap it together. I no longer take this show seriously and haven't for some time. I think it was the one year when CK won over someone who was more deserving.
