January 19, 201213 yr Member AMC is gone, OLTL is gone, GH is reportedly on the way out. If the only soaps left are YR, BB and Days, is there any point in having Emmy categories for daytime dramas beyond say 2013 or 2014? WDYT?
January 19, 201213 yr Member I wouldn't be surprised if no network airs the show (even this year). AMC is still eligible this year and technically OLTL is still eligible next year (2013) even though they only aired 9 episodes in 2012 there is currently no minimum on the amount of episode that have to air.
January 21, 201213 yr Member The last Emmy's I thought was accurate or relevant was the 2008 one. Some of the nominations past that have been ridiculous to say the least.
January 21, 201213 yr Member The daytime emmys are more than just for soap operas, that said eventually I don't think there will be much point of acting categories...(not enough choices.)
January 21, 201213 yr Member i say yes to the emmy's! now every show can be nominated for best drama/writing, instead of the same ol' 4 yr after yr after....
January 24, 201213 yr Member i say yes to the emmy's! now every show can be nominated for best drama/writing, instead of the same ol' 4 yr after yr after.... Well, if GH remains, it literally WILL be the same ol' 4 cuz there's only 4 shows to nominate! I think the Daytime Emmys can and will continue, but the daytime drama categories will either be reduced in some capacity or eventually eliminated.
March 4, 201213 yr Member Theirs more to the Emmys than the soaps We have talk shows, kids programming, etc
March 13, 201213 yr Author Member Theirs more to the Emmys than the soaps We have talk shows, kids programming, etc Perhaps I should have been more specific. I was referring to the categories for daytime drama writing, acting, etc. With only 4 shows left currently on air, in another year or so, I'm not sure there's really a reason to keep giving awards in these categories. It sort of diminishes the value of an Emmy if there's almost no competition for it.

March 17, 201213 yr Member The only thing less relevant than the Daytime Emmy's are the NAACP Image Awards for soaps. But the Emmys can revamp themselves by shaking the soaps loose completely and ramp up the focus on talk, game shows and childrens programming.

Given the horrid state of these they should just fold up entirely.
March 19, 201213 yr Member Our Indie Soap Awards air tonight at 9pm ET/6pm PT on The SFN http://www.sfntv.com/3rd-annual-indie-soap-awards-broadcast/ It's possible this year's Daytime Emmys will end up in the same place. For me, unless the producers of the Emmys really want to celebrate the shows they are honoring I would rather have an industry luncheon if I were them. Will be interesting to see how it turns out this year and who produces the show.
March 19, 201213 yr Member I don't watch these but thanks for showing the ceremony. Love seeing Colleen Zenk again, and many others. Yvonne Perry hasn't aged.
March 19, 201213 yr Member Will the Indie Soap Awards be available to watch later, as I don't have time tonight...
