Actually YOU are reaching. 3.8 million finale when well over 13 million people used to watch OLTL is NOT a good number. But it's all good. We know why these shows got cancelled.

Whatever. The ratings were great. This show has been on for four decades do you really think every person that ever watched was going to come back? You can't compare the television climate of yesteryear when we have hundreds of other channels as competition, and when people watch on Soapnet, DVR, Youtube, and ABC.com

We know why these shows got cancelled.

Because ABC is run by dumbasses which is letting go of a show that has a year on year gains every week for nearly a year, and the only show in daytime to be up in the 18-49 demo.

This is TOO easy! Go run the network, genious. And yet they still cancelled OLTL with Soapnet DVR youtube abc.com. Imagine that!

Congrats to OLTL for going out on top. For some reason, the initial SON report made me think AMC had a bit more total viewers on its final day.

I saddens me that OLTL is no longer on television but I am thrilled it did so well its final week. AMC also did well it's final week and that should prove there is definitely still an audience out there for the soaps. ABC daytime should FAIL MISERABLY and from the looks of The Revolutions ratings they are going to. OLTL & AMC will NEVER be forgotten.

EastMa, Why are you so goddamned nasty?

It is free country, but my god you really are a piece of work.

LOL.

I was kind of dreading today because waiting for the last week of ratings for OLTL was kind of -it- in my mind. It is the final outcome of 43 years. I never thought OLTL would beat AMC in its final week. I am very proud of the way this show went out. I rewatched the final episode after reading all the good, bad, and mixed critiques, and I still feel the same way. It was near perfect, and Thursday and Friday combined WAS perfect. I have not had many 27 year relationships in my life, and OLTL was there for me through thick and thin. Other than that godawful Higley era, it was time well spent. What a way to go. The Revolution will fail. Miserably. This much I know. Llanview lives on---somewhere.. And I must say that I already miss Viki (and Erika) most of all sad.png

Amazing numbers. To be fair AMC had the bigger jump with lower numbers previously, but either way I am glad for the proof this shows.

Why do you guys think for fans it was easier to let go of OLTL then AMC?

Huh?

DAYS NEEDS TO GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER AND FAST! NBC is probably looking at Abc and seeing if they still keep it.

Yup, I am very very scared for Days I hope they can pull something off... they've rebounded before from sure cancellation, I really hope they can get a nice bump soon.

LOL when a lot more people were at home in the day, when they didn't have the internet, when most tvs had three networks, PBS and one or two local stations... Sheesh.

This is TOO easy! Go run the network, genious. And yet they still cancelled OLTL with Soapnet DVR youtube abc.com. Imagine that!

And these are other ratings that don't count for this number--so great point, thanks! It proves that there probably was at least a million more who watched.

A show we all cared about very much ended last week, and we are here to CELEBRATE the ratings it went out with. 3.8 million is a fantastic number that surpassed most fan expectations. You're talking about 13 million people watching OLTL? Is this 1992? The show went out with a bang. If you are unable to acknowledge that, please keep silent. Honestly, you're negativity is disheartening and thoroughly annoying.

Soaps couldn't even get those numbers in 1992. It's one thing to post on here and act like you are offering a dose of reality--quite another to make ridiculous claims that actually make someone seem more delusional than even the most naive OLTL fan. At this point EastMA sounds merely like a troll.

You know I agree with you 100 percent.

They are just hating. They need to just get over it.

Good for OLTL going out on a high note imo that is all that matters everything else at this point is irrelevant.

Well CBS claims they were losing $25 million a year with ATWT/GL and now that has turned into a $100 MM profit (for the entire five show line-up - soaps, game shows and TT). That is the unfortunate reality. I'm bummed that we lost four shows in such a short time - especially since each one made a mark on TV in one fashion or another (ATWT - 20 straight years at #1 GL - 70+ years AMC - Erica Kane! OLTL - a show that had some great stories over the year and finished the strongest of the four cancelled). Small solace. sad.png

When was this said? They barely even mention The Talk now. To me it's mostly a Julie Chen vanity project.
