I know someone already mentioned Don Craig on Days, who went out to mail his taxes and never appeared again. The other terrible non-exit on Days, imo, was Neil Curtis' last scene in 1991. He announced that he had a lot of patients to see, walked out of the hospital lounge, and was seen again. At the time, Neil was the Chief of Staff at University Hospital. A few months later, the show had a lengthy plot about the hospital being sued for malpractice, but the Chief of Staff was nowhere to be seen. Like with Jed Allen as Don, it also showed an utter lack of respect for the actor. Joe Gallison had been on the show for nearly 18 years when he left.

Jonathan, Ava and I believe Sean at least got "off screen" goodbyes--unlike Brooke (and Taylor, and Becca, and Tim, etc, etc) who just disappeared and no character mentioned. When Livia came back on contract she had no exit. (I'm not sure her and Tom really had an exit the first time, though Tom made some recurring appearances and may have mentioned she worked out fo town).

It's something I hate--really lazy writing when they can't even MENTION an exit. Often it's a character I probably don't even like that wasn't working out, but if I had to spend hours watching them, I want my intelligence taken enough into account that they get an exit.

Oh I see I should have read the thread, as many of mine were mentioned... LOL Derek moved to be near Danni.

on OLTL I guess Larry is still meant to be in town somewhere, but IMHO he counts since his last appearance was nearly 10 years back. Not sure if Andrew counts though. What about the Love Shack crew? Of course that gay guy played by Matt Cavanaugh (Mark?) charmingly was tied into the gay serial killer story. I swear there were more with OLTL...

on AMC did Colby's rival, Winnifred's niece Sidney ever get an exit? Carmen? I guess many of these are fairly small characters, but...

Were they all victims in the Killing Club? I can't remember--Higley came on before that story really started (which is weird as Michael malone "from an idea by Josh Griffith" as the cover said, wrote the tie in Killign Club novel by Marcie--which has next to NOTHING to do with the murders that the show's copycat killer did--maybe cuz Higley came on board--and is actually by far the best tie in soap novel I've read, but of course Malone is a strong novelist, especially with mysteries, so he probably churned it out in his sleep).

No it was Higley that made Kate and Roman their parents. But the only ones that knew the truth were Rex, Cassie, Mimi and Sami. Then later that year JER wrote the reveal at Caroline's wake when Marlena fainted and everyone found out the truth. IIRC Cassie was killed because JER didn't like that the rewrite made her related to pretty much every young guy in Salem.
