I know someone already mentioned Don Craig on Days, who went out to mail his taxes and never appeared again. The other terrible non-exit on Days, imo, was Neil Curtis' last scene in 1991. He announced that he had a lot of patients to see, walked out of the hospital lounge, and was seen again. At the time, Neil was the Chief of Staff at University Hospital. A few months later, the show had a lengthy plot about the hospital being sued for malpractice, but the Chief of Staff was nowhere to be seen. Like with Jed Allen as Don, it also showed an utter lack of respect for the actor. Joe Gallison had been on the show for nearly 18 years when he left.

I think so,and then after his last appearance in 80,there was no mention.

Also,David Banning just stopped appearing in 83.

I think Laura Horton also just stopped appearing after Jack/Jennifer were written out in 1998.

B&B

Thomas

Pam

Stephen

These characters are still around. Stephen is recurring and doesnt need to be "written out" each time he's not on. The same was true for Thomas during DTB's run. Pam is on contract and she may not appear much but she's still around.

Actually theres alot more from AMC bc they were notorious for not given actors a proper exit during that time period. Along with Brooke and Taylor were Jonathan, Ava, Del, Anita, Sean and Im sure there's more. We were lucky if some characters mentioned what happened to them in passing after the fact, but none actually had a final scene where we learned they were leaving. It was all poorly done

Jonathan, Ava and I believe Sean at least got "off screen" goodbyes--unlike Brooke (and Taylor, and Becca, and Tim, etc, etc) who just disappeared and no character mentioned. When Livia came back on contract she had no exit. (I'm not sure her and Tom really had an exit the first time, though Tom made some recurring appearances and may have mentioned she worked out fo town).

It's something I hate--really lazy writing when they can't even MENTION an exit. Often it's a character I probably don't even like that wasn't working out, but if I had to spend hours watching them, I want my intelligence taken enough into account that they get an exit.

B&B had quite a few in recent years. Bridget, Rick, Aggie, Whip (I think its safe to say he's gone), Felicia, Dante. I dont think Hector got an exit either.

Well I wouldnt count Tim as he never moved back to PV. That was a temporary thing bc of Lorenzo's illness. Livia vanished but she's still supposed to be in PV working. I remember there went a long time with her not appearing and then she was Tad's lawyer for the Jenny custody case in 2009. I think you could be right about Derek. Last I remember was him beign on when Jesse appeared. Maybe he mentioned moving on bc he left the PVPD and Jesse got his job.

Oh I see I should have read the thread, as many of mine were mentioned... LOL Derek moved to be near Danni.

on OLTL I guess Larry is still meant to be in town somewhere, but IMHO he counts since his last appearance was nearly 10 years back. Not sure if Andrew counts though. What about the Love Shack crew? Of course that gay guy played by Matt Cavanaugh (Mark?) charmingly was tied into the gay serial killer story. I swear there were more with OLTL...

on AMC did Colby's rival, Winnifred's niece Sidney ever get an exit? Carmen? I guess many of these are fairly small characters, but...

Best example: Brooke English on All My Children. She had so many years and connections in PV but I think her last scene was at Simone's funeral (correct me if i am wrong) and then poof.

You're 1/2 correct.....it was a double funeral for Erin & Simone.

And that is the best or in this case worst example of a character/actor not getting a proper sendoff. Shameful it was....broke my Brooke loving heart!

I thought they were all killed off, aside from Mark.

Did Brenda McGillis have an exit (bring Brenda back!)?

Were they all victims in the Killing Club? I can't remember--Higley came on before that story really started (which is weird as Michael malone "from an idea by Josh Griffith" as the cover said, wrote the tie in Killign Club novel by Marcie--which has next to NOTHING to do with the murders that the show's copycat killer did--maybe cuz Higley came on board--and is actually by far the best tie in soap novel I've read, but of course Malone is a strong novelist, especially with mysteries, so he probably churned it out in his sleep).

I think that was JER since Kate and Roman found out during the serial killer story they were Rex and Cassie's biological parents. Higley was head writer for a few months in 2003 than returned in 2008, Cassie and Rex had already been written off by than and have never been mentioned since. JER was also responsible for the whole Mimi abortion thing as well.

No it was Higley that made Kate and Roman their parents. But the only ones that knew the truth were Rex, Cassie, Mimi and Sami. Then later that year JER wrote the reveal at Caroline's wake when Marlena fainted and everyone found out the truth. IIRC Cassie was killed because JER didn't like that the rewrite made her related to pretty much every young guy in Salem.
