Oh I think there was a time they did hate each other but over the years that hatred has grown into I think an appreciation for each others good qualities over the petty jealousies.

Yeah. They can be snarky with each other over their history with various men, but it's not like they go out of their way to plot schemes against each other or anything like that. If they were doing all of that kind of stuff over men now, then they'd be pathetic.

There is depth to the feud. Today's script, of course written by the wretched Rebecca Taylor, didn't delve into it -- although the script did mention the two of them having a lot more in common than either would care to admit.

I think a huge part of the feud is that both of these women see the other one as undeserving of the things they have in life. Erica sees Brooke as being undeserving because Brooke, in her opinion, is common and doesn't have the beauty, sex appeal and subsequent fame that she has. Brooke sees Erica as undeserving because she has all of this fame, beauty and romance, but does everything in her power to ruin it. It's just that over the years, it has manifested itself in their fighting over the same men... Tom, Adam, Jack, Dimitri. However, plenty of times, over the years of their feud, nuggets of the truth regarding their resentment of each other comes out. It's just that it's easier for these two to fight over men rather than say "I hate you because I envy you!"

Very good show today ending a pretty solid week if you ignore Monday.

Would Stuart's name have meant anything to Griffin if it was on the list? Or maybe he was only reacting to Babe's name?

The Castillo's have no history with either Babe or Stuart.

What's the song that was played during Jesse and Angie's scenes? I saw on pages before it was called Dust or something but I can't find it.

Add to that that Erica, until Opal and a few other scattered people, always had a hard time being friends with other women--for a variety of issues. I know some women like that-- It is like Vicki/Dorian in many ways.

It's Thorsten Kaye's "kinda cute" way of injecting his "kinda cute" obsession with the Detroit Red Wings into the character of Zach and the show of All My Children... so he can promote his favorite hockey team in a "kinda cute" way.

So, basically... Thorsten Kaye's been given complete authorization to use the Zach Slater character to do his personal bidding. Isn't that "kinda cute?"

Yeah, whatever... I'm ignoring you!tongue.png

Brooke was always well respected by everyone and that drove Erica nuts. Then there was the Tom element, and then came Adam and the magazine stuff. It was just a case of wherever they went the other was there and each one drove the other up the wall because Erica got everything because she was oh so fab, and Brooke rolled her eyes at that, and Brooke got everything despite not being oh so fab, and this was sort of an invalidation of Erica's merits in her eyes. And Erica's successes cheapened Brooke's successes because Brooke ran a magazine, Erica ran a magazine, Brooke was friends with Jeremy, Erica was in love with Jeremy. And on and on.

Brooke did take all of Erica's leftovers though, no denying that. It was nice seeing Brooke today and I felt bad watching them because it seemed so lonely, like this is it--one last spat for old time's sake.

Well since the kids were playing quietly in the other room, I think she expected him to jump her bones.

I actually loved how Brooke just showed up instead of waiting until the end to see her.

Yes, it definitely felt like the good old days!

I like this plot twist; it explains why Alexander Cambias swore he didn't kill her and rewrites Pratt's nonsense that Adam did.

ICAM.

Yeah, I think when she starts having to take care of the baby by herself and when Liza starts reminding her how much Angie & Jesse love Lucy, Maya will come to realize that Lucy's better off with the Hubbards. I'm expecting her to return Lucy and tell them she wants them to adopt her by Thursday or Friday.

Me, too!

Maybe I'm reading more into it, but I always thought part of Brooke considering Erica undeserving was based on the fact that she worked so hard to get where she was and Erica frequently got her jobs by sleeping with the man in charge.

    • Well, you are the most ill-informed, condescending person on this board so I am glad you enjoy mocking me? Or whatever you are trying to do lol.  You literally can't comprehend the simplest things about the show and don't watch, but are literally shaming me for being a women?

One other side note, because now I've re-read 1993-1994.  I think that I found a ret-con issue. In 1993 after John finds out that Stefano is Kristen's father. It is not like I am claiming to have found nuclear fission, clearly mistakes happen.  But, I found this to be amusing. In 1993, Stefano becomes deadly ill, so Kristen tells John that she needs to be by her father's side, but not to worry about the deadly disease, because she's adopted.  Given, that I've always thought of Kristen as being adopted, until the more recent cannon that she is Stefano's biological child, it is interesting that in 1993, the week before Tony comes to town to announce that he is Kristen's fiancée.  Kristen is saying that she can't give blood to her dying father, because she was adopted.  So, the current reverse in cannon, neglects that detail. It is so funny to read this and then see Kristen and Tony in the crypt this week, 32 years later.  That's more than half the show's history at this point, amazing.
    • It was shuffled off the stove way before that. Think of the early summer stuff with Gio, Emma, and Dalton, which they basically dropped for weeks at a time, and then also put them on the back burner until recently.

    • After the slap it does feel inevitable - being arrested and thrown out right after her big win.
    • Yesterday it was Theo and Jada.  Today it's Chad and Belle.  What a mess.
    • I asked my soap historian GPT to help pull together the best available sources on Daniel Pilon’s run, and here’s what the research confirms: * Pilon played Max Dubujak on *Ryan’s Hope* from 1983–88. * He began appearing as Alan Spaulding on *Guiding Light* in 1988. * An academic source notes that he appeared as **Max and Alan simultaneously in November 1988 * His later-life interviews mention major upheavals, including losing his home in the Northridge earthquake and declaring bankruptcy in 1994.  That’s the factual foundation. Now for the human side of it. I’ll admit Pilon was never my favorite Alan. The Spauldings are supposed to have that patrician, Midwestern money vibe, and suddenly here comes this very European-sounding gentleman sweeping into Springfield like he wandered in from a different soap entirely. It created a strange tonal shift, at least in my memory. Whether he was intended to be temporary is hard to pin down, but honestly, looking at what he was dealing with in his real life, I don’t know that the show ever had a truly stable window to figure it out. He was going through marital strife, while being talked about as the "next James Bond" back in Canada, and juggling work on two soaps at once is a lot. Under those circumstances, the question of whether he was the “right” type for Alan becomes almost secondary to the fact that he was working through multiple emergencies while stepping into one of GL’s biggest roles. So for me, the story of his Alan isn’t just about casting fit. It’s about an actor navigating chaos and the show adapting on the fly. Also, the proverbial soap hill that I would defend its honor, is that Ron Raines in the final week was so amazing, that for me, it erases all prior memories of his performance.
