Ok, so while slick jones and I compare notes, I wanted to post a "find" I made a couple years ago, that excited me and kind of set my obsession in motion.

On youtube, they have the episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000, that featured brief segments of episodes from early 60's episodes of GH. In one of them Dr. Hardy has a patient, Martha Lyons, the wife of Dr. George Lyons. Anyway, one day, I searched "General Hospital 1960's" on ebay and found this:

"

A 1964 ABC Press release photo of actress Lisabeth Hush with caption "joins ABC's General Hospital as a patient" or something like that. So I went back to the MST3 video and lo and behold, it's dear old Martha Lyons with her hiatus hernia and all.

Doesn't she look positively petrified of the diagnosis.

I know I'm a few months late, but her audition story is so fascinating, it just has to be shared here.

When Kristina first auditioned for the role of Felicia, she was 22, still living in her hometown of Indianapolis, married to her first husband. Gloria Monty had a nationwide search for the role of Felicia, with auditions being held throughout the country in different cities. For Kristina, the closest city for her to audition in was Chicago, which GM was there for, and in the GH coffee table book, she says that Gloria thought she had a terrible resume but she liked her head shot. By the time she got back to Indy, she found out she had a call back the next day, so she drove back to Chicago again for it. In the special GH 50th anniversary magazine SOD did last year, Kristina talked about how when she got the part, she had to adjust to having a new job in a whole new state, a different time zone--her whole life had changed, and ultimately her first marriage ended, but she did meet Jack Wagner because of the show (which worked out, until it didn't, of course).

In any case, this is a woman who has clearly come a long way in 30 years :) .

Love the magazine cover of the Matheson family. That's their little girl, Michele, who carved out a memorable acting career of her own. She played Angela, the ditzy best friend of the Owens daughter on Mr. Belvedere, the one who always screwed up his name (calling him Mr. Beetlejuice, Mr. Butterfinger, Mr. Butterworth, etc.), and appeared in a more dramatic role as the snobby rich girl who was the arch enemy of Kellie Martin's Becca on the first season of Life Goes On.

That is a fascinating story of how Kristina came to be on GH. Without the show, she wouldn't have had her two sons (and both of those pregnancies were written into the show but Felicia had two daughters instead).

Milwaukee Journal...May 4, 1976...Actor Stephen Parr takes on role of Dr. Rex Pearson on General Hospital. I believe it is the same Stephen Parr that appeared on AMC in the late 70s early 80s as Rick Kincaed. Pearson was the lead intern when the Webbers were interns in 76. He hit on Monica. Rex Pearson is a character whose actor I've been looking for for many years. Just thought I'd share the info!

Good find. If it is the same actor he never mentioned GH in interviews during his AMC days.

Must be suffering from what I call 'Mascolo' syndrome, whereby actors conveniently erase that they've done soaps before.

Joe Mascolo always talks about being offered Stefano DiMera and not sure about doing soaps when he's made a movie with Burt Reynolds and never mentions he'd done Days and WTHI in the late 60's/70's.

There was a picture with the article, and I'm just about positive it's the same actor. I remember Rick slept with so many women, being Benny's best friend and falling for Estelle. I read about the character in the 80s, and I just got lucky punching in the character's name on google news newspaper archive, and the article came up. Just a lucky day I guess...Sometimes I find looking for cast info better than what's actually on the show....especially when a longtime question gets solved!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOj5TtZdAcg

Its an old Rick/Lesley from 1979.

Came across this watching some stuff on youtube.

I didn't know Daniel J. Travanti's Spence had kids, were they ever on the show? Did Lesley ever get pregnant by Rick? Reading the youtube comments, I couldn't tell if she did or it was just fanfic by the posters.

I'm not very tech savvy, or computer literate, so I couldn't post it. If anyone knows how to post it, please help, or is it blocked? Not sure...

    • But that is pretty much situation normal for all soaps. They do not tend to continue to show things like surgical scars. They also play fast & loose with hospital procedures.
    • Trump and Netanyahu are giving "Let them eat cake".  And it's horrific. In 2013, Pope Francis removed a bishop from running the Limburg Germany diocese because he was constructing an opulent 31-million-euro building. Pope Francis stood up for the poor, the unhoused, the migrants of all faiths.  He lived simply and ordered that when he died, that he wished to be interred in a simple wooden coffin. I sincerely hope that the new pope Leo will follow Francis' example.
    • Co Sign!!!!   I have been watching the show regularly over the last few weeks and am pleasantly surprised by how much easier it is to watch each day. This definitely is confirmation for me that Paula and Jeanne wrote the stroke episodes, cause I felt the same way watching those. Could be more exciting for sure, but interactions now make more sense and everything seems to be a bit more character driven which is great. I will add though, there are still about 10 or so characters i'd love to see gone, and hope a few will exit in the future! Otherwise, happy with the changes so far.
    • Sean Freeman looks good in anything. Would not change one thing. Arielle Prepetit looking cute.

    • There is suffering everywhere you look, says mother of emaciated baby girl trapped in Gaza https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/czrv5rl73zdo Quoting excerpts from BBC article: The baby's mother Najwa, 23, is changing Siwar's nappy. She weighs just over 2kg (4lb 6oz). A baby girl of five months should be around or over 6kg. "There was no food when I gave birth to her," says Najwa. "If I wanted to feed myself so I could breastfeed her, I had no nutrients to make my health better... She now only drinks formula milk, and we don't know how we'll be able to provide it for her." Israel has banned international journalists from entering Gaza to report independently. According to Siwar's doctor, Ziad al-Majaida, "Nothing enters through the borders, no milk, food or anything. This leads to big problems here for the kids. This baby needs a specific type of milk. It was available before, but because of the border closure, the stocks have run out for a while now." Since the beginning of the year, according to the UN, about 10,000 cases of acute malnutrition among children have been identified. Food prices have rocketed by as much as 1,400%. Charity kitchens, which have helped hundreds of thousands of Gazans, are shutting as food supplies run out. Twenty-five bakeries supported by the World Food Programme have been forced to close. Israel cut off all humanitarian aid and other supplies from entering Gaza on 2 March, and resumed its military offensive two weeks later The United Nations has said the Israeli blockade constitutes "a cruel collective punishment" on civilians. The UN's humanitarian director, former British diplomat Tom Fletcher, said that international law was unequivocal. "As the occupying power, Israel must allow humanitarian support in... Aid, and the civilian lives it saves, should never be a bargaining chip," he warned. From the BBC reporter: I put this point to Boaz Bismuth, a leading member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party. He (Bismuth) denies there is an aid crisis caused by the blockade. "There is food in Gaza... Israel wouldn't do such a restriction if the population didn't have food. I mean, I know my country perfectly well," he (Bismuth) said. BBC reporter: I put it to Bismuth that he was denying the evidence of people's eyes, that children were starving. "There are not starving children. I repeat again." He (Bismuth) said that there had been allegations months ago of famine, ethnic cleansing and genocide in Gaza "which was crap". ----  ----  ---- A UK-based advocacy group for Israel has the nerve to claim war may reduce obesity in Gaza https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/may/10/uk-lawyers-for-israel-condemned-over-claim-war-may-reduce-obesity-in-gaza
    • Joel Crothers would have been perfect as Owen (maybe because Margo wasn't too far off Denise). A shame he couldn't have played a dual role. Eliot did have more room to grow. I wonder if whatever allegedly happened with Denny Albee played a part in both their exits.
    • Andre is the standout in the cast among the males when it comes to fashion.

    • I remember Evie's last scene and it was in Justin Marler's house and she is telling them that Ben is asking for a reconciliation and she is going to join him. I always have wondered what Janet Grey did after leaving Guiding Light (I know from the interview with Kathleen Cullen that she did have a baby and they stayed in touch for awhile).
