If she's not able to in person, I hope they'd at least have her on the phone with Laura, like they did when Monica talked to Liz during Epiphany's memorial.

As for Monica's memorial, this isn't the Guza/JFP era where Lila died and they had to fly in Lucy, Kevin, Robin, Lee, Gail, Felicia, and whoever else to say one or two lines and then bounce. Basically everyone important Monica interacted with in the past 35 years is either on the show currently or dead (in real life or on the show). Between who they've got, who they can probably get for an appearance, and flashbacks, they've got enough to do this right.

ICAM!!

Partnerships like Marco and Tracy's are what I live for as a soaps fan.

And now comes the part where, once again, I urge GH to cast Justin Deas, a.k.a. SON's Public Enemy #1, as Tracy's new love interest.

I do wonder if they ever had him mention Llanview.

I'm still stymied by the magazine print preview I saw not long ago from late '91 which indicated he would reappear on OLTL in time for Megan's "exit" the following year (death). I wonder what happened there.

There's a line about halfway through this where Tracy says, "I don't enjoy being right, Paul. It's a burden I've had to bear my whole life."

In the hands of many, that line would be played for high camp, or uber-dramatically, and I imagine all the people out there who just see soaps as a big joke or clawfest would eat that up. Instead, Jane plays the pain of Tracy, very matter of fact, deeply sad. It's a beautiful moment.

And of course you could say how deluded is she, but even if you say that, you understand her in that moment. You look at her point of view, all the carnage and chaos of the Quartermaines that she probably thinks she could have stopped if she'd had the respect. You watch through her eyes. That's something soaps have lost when either making everything about plot or just trying to get us to root for TPTB pets. We don't have to agree with Tracy...we just have to understand her.

I laughed when Paul had the guitar. I guess that explains Dillon's musical career.

I wish the show had done more to have some serious moments between Tracy and Larry Ashton (were there ever any? and was there anything of value in his '10s returns?) as he was clearly such a horrible betrayal of her trust that she then spent many years going for "respectable" guys like Mitch Williams and Paul who under the generic face were real sleazebags.

I love the music cue at the end when Tracy finds the earring.

As cynical and grasping as Tracy can be, she's also someone who understands what motivates others better than anyone, even if she has gained such knowledge from living a lifetime of disappointment and heartache.  (I've always imagined Edward telling her, "You're not beautiful, Tracy, and you're too intelligent; but you have a lot of money, which is all that truly matters to a man.")

Ironically, Justin Deas once filled in for Gerald Anthony on OLTL.  There's even a clip of him on YT as Marco - he must've subbed for him after leaving ATWT - but it's probably not available anymore.

"People who look with longing through a window see more than those who are inside." (It's specifially from Vincent Canby's review of Goodfellas, but good lord, is it applicable to everyday life.) As for Edward's appraisal, which I have no trouble imagining, either, the best case scenario would be his and/or Tracy pretending those words were spoken out of realism as opposed to cruelty.
