I know she said she was mostly just excited by the amount of money they were paying her and acknowledges the character was not there when she got there.  But it must have been frustrating to go from such a well defined character on DAYS with Bill Bell to the mess that Lesley was at first.  Funny to think that by her own charisma and talent she made Lesley a lead that not only lasted, but was beloved.

I recall reading in a soap book (I think it was the GH Trivia Book by Gerry Waggett) that one of the show's producers was against the hiring of Denise Alexander. Not because he didn't think she was a good actress, but because he would rather have seen the hefty price tag used to lure her away from DAYS go to the sets. The sets had always been on the shoddy side, which was made even more obvious when the show transitioned from b&w to color.

In her We Love Soaps interview she said the production side was a mess.  Old cameras and equipment, and DAYS was very modern as far as all that goes.  I think she credits Tom Donovan with getting the production side up to date before the expansion to 45 minutes and poor writing got them in trouble again before Monty.

Lesley spoke about her past when she was first introduced to GH, but besides having had Laura, her pre-Port Charles existence was sort of looped off and not referred to. The last mention of her deceased, other child was in 1980 or so, when Lesley and Gail talked about it. I daresay the vast majority of viewers have/had no clue that Lesley had even had a previous child, since the fact hasn't been mentioned in over 40 years.

There are a lot of omissions and inaccuracies on Soap Central, but to be fair, very few sources--if any-- sources acknowledge Lesley's other child. I doubt historians from books and magazines and internet sites even know he (I seem to recall the child was a boy) even existed.

In the 1975 B&W kinescope floating about she tells Cam or Joel about this. It is her birthday episode I think. She doesn't go into detail from what I remember but tells him she doesn't care if they have children as she lost two babies before

Bryna is accurate, but there is always the possibility that the story changed somewhere along the way

I have spoken to various fans who lament the omissions in most of the soap coffee-table books. I guess it's to be expected; with so much history to cover, no book can give complete and concise information on every bit of minutia.

Right, but after those mentions in the character's early years on the show, the "other child" drifted into forgotten/ignored/unacknowledged history. One of the things I always loved and respected about Pat Falken Smith as a writer is that she knew her stuff, and studied what was under every leaf in the soap towns she wrote for. Douglas Marland and Claire Labine who another two who studied, used, and respected history.

The more I think about it, the more I believe Lesley's first child had had diabetes, but succumbed to crib death. I suppose we will never know for sure, alas.

I was really impressed when Claire Labine’s team had Laura visit Robin and Mac’s house, because truthfully I had forgotten that it was the Webber house before they lived there.  Of course, that attic lead us down a terrible road later on.  But it was a sweet scene with Laura, Lucky, and Robin.  Having Frisco play such a major part of the very important Maxie/BJ story was another great and believable use of history.  And Lucy’s reaction when she found out what happened.

Soaps (and all continuing media) are so much better when someone is there to make sure the details count.

    • On that same note, it's astounding to have mobster Sonny in the same office with Mayor Laura chatting it up about their mutual grandson. Think about the reaction if John Gotti and Mayor Eric Adams had a friendship

?? I guess the Logic behind Sonny & Jason acceptance is like when i saw a documentary where FBI agents said they'd rather deal with the mafia than terrorists or cartels---they're the "lesser of 3 evils". Anyway I'm about 30 years late on this convo.
    • Im confused. Does Jessica know anything about June's relation to Tyrell? At the start of the episode, it seemed like June was gonna slip that he was her son but she caught herself but later in the episode she referred to him as "my boy" and Jessica had no reaction like that wasnt a surprise to her No, Anita was putting money in the account every 6 months but we werent told how much was in it when Leslie became a beneficiary. The show has set it up that it was multiplying based off the interest so that its really worth quite alot now. I dont buy it but thats what they've told us
    • What was the point in Lori's return as Mrs. Max Hollister? That little story never made much sense to me.  Were there plans for a permanent return? Or even a new family with her as the matriarch?
    • I guess it depends on your device.  I can watch CW shows via their website on my Windows PC.
    • Ooooo A Liam episode? I'll watch it later today. They sure are churning the daily episodes out early.

    • Welcome back, Shawn Douglas! It's been a while. It really is too bad that the writers don't really have an interest in the character because there are still a lot of ways that he can be used effectively on the canvas. He should have been a part of the 60th anniversary celebrations as well. If anything, just to represent Bo and Hope. And I'd much rather see Jada paired with him than possibly with Theo. But I enjoyed him getting caught up with Belle, and comforting her. I'm sure they'll find their way back to each other at some point but I do like them as divorced friends. I just hope we see it play out onscreen. Belle being a dick about Sami again was unnecessary though. And we finally saw Liam again!  I'm curious to see how this storyline is going to play out, and who's going to be weaved into it. He and Abe do work well together too. And we learned that he has a kid. Hopefully, we'll learn more about his character in the future. But I'm not really sure about Johnny and Chanel suddenly having problems with raising Trey. They've wanted a baby for so long, so I don't understand why this is even an issue. They should know by now what it's like to raise a baby. But I did enjoy Johnny's scenes with EJ, and that Johnny still hasn't refused to forgive him. This storyline was/is very clunky, but having the two of them be at odds is the right decision. There's so much story potential that can be drawn from that. As for Chad... there was no time for us to see his reunion with Will, but there's time for us to see him talking BS with Leo? I don't get it. And I don't get all this random dating app stuff either. Leo and Javi were boring af too. If we're forced to endure them, can they at least have some real conflict? The two of them losing the baby was the perfect opportunity for it.
