GH: Classic Thread

Remember when Kristina was actually considered a lead actress on GH? She looks fabulous there, what a figure!

Watching that montage was so sad because of how well balanced it was. So many old time favourites were still featured. The mob violence was there, but it was not overwhelming. The scenes of the beautiful Bachenlia, and Jax and Brenda on the beach, those were the days.

So true. I never understood why GH vilified Felicia who was played by an actress who was beautiful, charismatic and talented enough to show subtlety and layers in her performance. Apparently GH's version of the perfect mother is Carly who has no redeeming social value and in her current iteration is an unattractive screeching harpy. Along with her other defects she only seems to be aware she has children when she needs them as pawns for purposes of negotiation and manipulation.

It was very odd. KW had to be one of the prettiest women to ever be on GH, they called her old and sidelined her but then put on the older and older looking Nancy Lee Grahn? It was always about the mob and Felicia just never found her place in the post-Monty world of no adventure. She floundered for years from Tom to Mac to Luke and she was just an 80s gal who never was able to successfully transition to the more down to earth stories. Had Felicia been a mob character it would not have been a problem.

Perhaps it's because I started watching almost 20 years ago, but I didn't see Felicia as out of place at all. Granted, I was too young to have watched the 80s adventure years, but my memories of her in the 90s were fond ones.

Unlike the horrendous way that they've written her daughter once they SORASed and recasted her, I thought she struck a perfect balance of being dreamy without being a ditz. During the height of my GH watching in the 90s, I thought she was necessary to the canvas precisely because she was a lighthearted character that could do the lighthearted storylines that balanced out the tragic/dark ones.

To this day, it saddens me that this show has been gutted so much that a full and vibrant character such as Felicia Scorpio-Jones couldn't thrive there without being steamrolled under the bus.

I thought Felicia was a very viable character until her pairning with Luke. That ruined her in so many ways. Its not like she couldnt recovered but by the time that was done, no one at GH really seemed to care and she just wondered about until she was dropped

    • Okay, I hear ya. But, you know Josh Griffith on one Thursday night fired 7 or 8 writers in one fell swoop! That totally blew my mind. But, I still think this is bunk. And, no, the show is not that bad! Literally, my only problem with it, as a fan, is that I think it could be great & it's just not. It's good, not great. They still are not on top of pacing. They routinely take too long to tell stories. But, one example, the scenes this week with Lulu & Laura were like old time soap come home!
    • Ok nevermind, Wolf is in Marian's getup on the Jan 9th episode. Lucy wakes up at the lighthouse and it's now Marian, drinking tea, and sounding like an old British woman a la Mrs. Doubtfire

Wolf is actually doing a good job as Brett, but I don't think they made him look like a believable Marian - its too clown/drag, but also creepier - and Wolf has a large nose they couldn't hide. I guess at this point, it didn't matter since she was unhinged and revealing him/herself anyway.
    • This is the *new* Rachel Black who just started airing on DAYS 4/25/2025, but of course with the ginormous tape-to-airdate gap on DAYS, she'll be airing on DAYS for months to come. And yet now she'll be new ex-Rachel. LOL.
    • As someone who cut ties with the show a little while after Chris Van Etten came back, I can’t talk on what the show is like now… is the show that bad? But even as a rumour, that’s pretty wild and radical. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that before.
    • Yes, I know JK is getting on in years, but perhaps he and his family (wife and/or son) could work with him as co-headwriters on the new TEON! I would also be available as a story consultant!

    • It's too bad they didn't see it through. Alan and Van could have married for all the wrong reasons and ended up caring for each other, with Ross in the wings and possibly Rita, too, to cause trouble. Rita was a LITTLE BIT of a schemer. She was kind of the Nola of her era, without the goofy personality. She deliberately went after Ed because she thought he would give her the lifestyle she wanted. She could do malicious things, i.e. cooly seduce Evie's crush (who was played by Jordan Clark, btw) and string him along until she was sure she had Ed. While Rita claimed to be deeply in love with Alan at the time she departed, part of the attraction for her was his money and power. As well as sharing aspects of Nola's character, she was also a more subtle version of Reva-she grew up poor and always wanted more than she had.
    • I'm not that surprised, in just the little we've seen of her she's been a complete natural. Even better than a handful of the adults.
    • Moving on to bigger projects (ex-Rachel Black, DOOL) https://deadline.com/2025/05/little-house-on-the-prairie-laura-ingalls-cast-alice-halsey-1236383465/

    • I liked that Steffy told Liam that he should tell Hope about his tumor. As acrimonious as Steffy & Hope are to each other, I'm glad they don't use their kids as pawns.
