Clearly, Biggie didn't "think."

*snort*, not 'Biggie' though  ...

I just keep picturing Agnes sipping sherry and reading all these messages on her computer and with a beatific Aggie-like smile she says "It's okay dear. The haters can suck my dick." Then she closes her laptop like she's shutting the AMC photo album.

You guys crack me the furk up.

I don't think it's something so "ladylike" as sherry. She's knocking back straight up gin. Ms. Nixon seems a bit hardcore to me. :D

I apologize if this article has been posted before, but the following is one of the most insigthful articles I have read on this subject to date:

http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2011/07/12/abc-soap-stars-holding-out-for-more-money-in-new-online-deal/

Yes, I posted it. And I also said it was "insightful." Thief.

If any of you heathens had bothered to read All Her Children, you'd know that Aggie likes a blond Lillet on the rocks (just one, every night after dinner...). Of course that was 1975, with all the drama since then, maybe she's taken to swilling vodka...

With AMC part of the problem with the situation right now is the lack of time. They are the guinea pigs (for lack of a better term) in this situation. No one knows what is up exactly and they have to decide quickly. With OLTL, they have months before the ABC aired episodes are finished taping, so they can figure out what the best course of action is on an individual basis. IMO for those who aren't staying with AMC I want the characters to get good endings...and I completely get why anyone would say no.

However if AMC online is an instant flop, will they even bother with OLTL? I get the feeling they want to build up programming, and it's a package deal.

I keep going back to the question of where are we supposed to watch these shows. If they are just dumping them on Hulu then flop becomes a relative term since that is pretty much a graveyard for all of NBC's flops. I think you can still find episodes of The Cape. If they're launching their own channel then they'll take all the content they can get.

The time issue is an important one IF they intend to go live with these shows in September. Again that's just more unsubstantiated "buzz." My only real problem with all of this is that the focus/fixation on the AMC 2.0 might have short-circuited any other possible returns either because the actors involved no longer think there's a point or because they don't want to deal with the speculation and questions that they might be coming on for the new show. I've still been hoping for news of Adam, Brooke and/or Reggie. Now I don't think we'll get it. On the glass half full side, at least we got a bunch of really great returns lined up before the chaos broke

Marceline, I agree completely with your points. From the initial press release or whatever, it sounded like PP were using this to launch their own online viewer/network thing, so that's been my assumption. I'm still completely worried Canadians won't get access to it, we don't with Hulu although there are fairly easy ways to get around that, so it's not too bad...

That was my assumption too but if that's the case, then it doesn't make sense to rush unless there's some deadline involved with the funding. A completely new online channel will need significant promotion and a hell of a lot of content that appeals to a broad audience. Royal Pains, Wilfred, AMC and OLTL hardly fits that bill, especially since Royal Pains and Wilfred are currently showing on "real" cable networks and Hulu while the soaps are canceled shows. If this new online thing is a subscription channel, then that's even more reason not to rush. I'm one of the few people who pays for Hulu and I mainly did for two reasons: Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Quantum Leap.

Thats what this board is for.

*1 with a huge eye roll. Some seem to be in the "know". Too bad they can't predict Powerball.
