Members RoseVioletDaisy
Which is no surprise since one of PP execs was at Disney for years before starting at PP in 2009 and another only left ABC TV to join PP last May.

Members KMan101
Wow they didnt even approach her! Definitely makes me believe PP put all of their eggs in Susan Lucci's basket. It's a shame.
Members dragonflies
I think PP thought if they could get SL to sign, the other actors would follow suit.
Members JaneAusten
Hard to get anyone signed when you don't approach most of them. They had Cameron who has always been a cheerleader and company man. He was allegedly making more at ABC than Lucci was at the end because he allegedly refused salary cuts when she took them. With that in mind if you were Lucci and you were offered the same salary it would be an insult.. But valuing men over women = Disney, ABC. What I think PP felt was that if SL signed the rest would fall in like like good little soldiers to whatever contract terms they threw at them, Its business no question it just has the ABC stench on it. Members Llantano Incorporated
I never join this discussion but I hold out little hope for OLTL ever becoming OLTL 2.0- Nothing is adding up. Not enough funding means no show. And there is no way in hell OLTL will be online in January. If it happens at all it will be March or later.. Am I missing something here? Members dragonflies
I just don't get why they wanted the AMC actors to sign exclusive 4 year contracts, yet were letting the OLTL actors sign for like a year
Members ellabelle
Michael E. Knight said that he was approached early on by PP with an offer that he described a "generous" but that he felt like he needed a break. So if he wasn't interested in going with PP, I can see why they didn't bother to contact Cady McClain. Tad and Dixie were reunited at the end of the show, and it would be odd to have one without the other. The same goes for a lot of other actors on the show, which is one reason I disliked the way the writers paired off almost everyone for the finale. How do you write for a bunch of couples if you can't get all of the actors? If they couldn't get Susan Lucci, they may have felt that they didn't need to contact Walt Willey or Bobbie Eakes to complete the triangle. They got Cam, but Rebecca Budig hadn't committed before this news came out. They have Darnell Williams, but Debbie Morgan is on Y&R now. They have Lindsey Hartley, but apparently not Vincent Irizarry. If you take out all of the actors who had said they weren't keen on being on the west coast: David Canary, Julia Barr, Alicia Minshew, Thorsten Kaye and possibly Rebecca Budig, you've lost a lot of your big names. You need MEK, SL and VI. It would have been far smarter to leave a lot of characters unattached with the potential for future relationships. Members JaneAusten
That IMO could have been easily rectified wih a jump ahead of so much time. If they were only interested in the same people, same couples, same stories its best they didn't move forward, I still tend to believe the actors are scapegoats because they don't have the money plain and simple. Its not a crime acknowledging they likely took on too much. The only LEGIT piece of information we have regarding PP's challenges has been the WSJ article that talked about lack of investors and the union contracts still open. Everything else has been from unnamed sources.
Members John
It also doesnt help if u as actor let it know that You Only want Recurring Or its been common knowledge that you have wanted off AMC for years now I can understand why PP didnt approach any of those actors that have stated the above. PP is a company that wants to put AMC on with committed actors and not just have recurring actors who can decide if and when they work. Nothing would get done
Members R Sinclair
Did I miss something? Why is Prospect Park being blamed for blaming the actors? Did they release a statement or something where they say they can't go forward because it's Susan Lucci's fault?
Members JaneAusten
Oh please. One actor, Unless you are privy to the discussions that have occurred between the actors and PP none of us know what was said. THis was also the same actress called a liar because she said they were only offering 4 year deals, a stmt backed up by other AMC actors by the way but I guess they were all liars also. PP did not give AMC the same level of focus and attention they did OLTL as evidenced by the fact they have no EP and HW. Its no crime top admit they took on too much but Prospect Park is not some victim here at door of the big bad AMC actors who are trying to bully them. PP doesn't have the money to do both shows. that is a fact backed up by the Wall Street Journal article.
Members JaneAusten
I don't know anyone blames them. Its the soap media who's been falling for every "source" telling them the actors are the stumbling block which just happens to work to PPs advantage since they don't have the money for 2 shows. Members John
Just because they have no EP/HW doesnt mean they arent trying. LB is under ABC Contract. PP wants her but ABC has yet to release her, I dont know why. So they are looking at Chris Whitesell. For EP, Its Gary Tomlin they are talking too. Why did it take so long? Well If I were an EP/HW and was offered AMC and Looked at the characters left, stories of late and Production status (Their budget) I dont know if Id want that job after what JHC has done to it financially and Chuck Pratt and dave Kriezman did to it's history. AMC creatively has been in shambles for years. Producers/Writers may not want to even bother
Members JaneAusten
Thats all fine and dandy again if you believe what the soap media is saying. Again the only FACT we know of is one thing. Prospect Park does not have the money to do 2 shows.THat was in an article with Jeff K. All the rest is just rumors and speculation. NO one is Blaming PP for anything other than perhaps biting off more than they had the ability to handle. I don' even think anyone is blaming them. What they are trying to do is an ambitious endeavor even in a thriving economy much less a recession based one. You want to hold the actors responsible for that I guess thats your choice.
