Regarding the Kat/Ea feud, it's probably too early for something like this, but there should be a situation like on OLTL when Dorian was ousted from the hospital and she always thought Viki was the deciding vote, then years later, decades even, she finally learns/accepts that Viki actually voted in her favour. I don't know how they would do it, but I would have Kat be the Viki and Eva be the Dorian is said situation, which would spur Eva to go full throttle against Kat and really give the rivalry some juice.

Northrop's Roman should have moved into story with the Laura/Bill/Kate/Victor/Vivian crowd. They never played that group, especially Kate/Bill/Laura, to their full potential and it still grinds my gears.
Emmerdale Farm: Both after the fact, but the first I'll mention is the plane crash episodes, which work so beautifully as a separate piece of work all to itself. I'll always mourn of how much more mature and daring shows could be then. And then Jack Sugden's funeral, which I strongly believe is the absolute best funeral/memorial episode of a long time a character ever to be done on any soap opera.

Oh, that disaster was epic. Yeah, Wayne should have just returned as Roman. Maybe explain JT's Roman as Chris Kositchek with a mind-altering brain chip. (On this show, it would work. But then, how to explain the Bradys having been so dumb? LOL!)

I am still in awe at how it has gone from background noise this year to genuine enjoyment. From Taylor/Deacon/Sheila to Ms. That's-Not-Proper's antics influencing the young set (and the fact B&B has a young set to spotlight) to a slow return to the show having dueling fashion houses, it really has been enjoyable. And it still builds up its plot nicely. After all Taylor/Deacon/Sheila started as a C plot. As did 'the Letter.' Both got building tension, climax, and turns. And now the reveal this past week is about to spotlight some of the other characters that have been in the background. The show has momentum and has been almost effortless in how they rotate between their two main plots. And even if it is focused on one, they usually introduced a second storyline by mid-week so the audience does not get too bored. I don't know what Brad Bell has been doing, but I hope he keeps doing what he's doing.

Ladd was done wrong by the show. Not to spoil you but sadly beginning in Season 7 Ladd as Emma stopped appearing in every episode and for the last 2 seasons only had shortened arcs for better for worse.
Emma’s story is wrapped up and given a happy ending in the finale but between the hastily rewriting of the final episodes and as @kalbir mentioned the budget, Ladd wasn’t rehired the same way she was for the S8 finale.
Indeed. I know you previously mentioned you couldn’t point where but I did deduce to a point somewhere S7 where there was at least 1-2 eps where it was just Angela, Lance, Richard, and Maggie and no one else of the main cast appeared, which is pretty slack and unbalanced.

The plasma story is still so (unnecessarily) convoluted. Unless Lynette actually is dead and Lia killed her, how are we to believe that Lia is sooooo ruthless but hasn't gone after the person responsible for her predicament? And why did Jacob spend weeks "convincing" Grayson he was a dirty cop (he was not convincing) instead of just offering him immunity and making him a confidential informer to begin with? Just to name a couple of things I was preoccupied by during these scenes.
I like Kat best when she's sleuthing. I hate to say this because the plasma story is such a drain but, with the connection to the clinic, etc., it could be fun for Kat and Eva to have to work together somehow in the conclusion and at least develop a mutual respect. We could use a breather from the "feud" (and endless exposition about said feud).
I agree with this assessment. I probably won't stop watching, but I would be disappointed if Hayley's last stand is a bust. This week was still dicey but I am excited for the rest of May sweeps.

Especially when you consider that Taylor has now played Roman the longest. (Look, I have nothing against the man, but if he had to come back, it should have been as his former Chris Kositchek character! Even almost 30 years on, I still don't think of him as Roman Brady.)

No, you are correct I believe. I think that was one of Deidre's demands. IIRC, she had a lot of demands. A certain amount of tv movies, special credits, crazy money, but hey good for her. I do think Deidre probably would have returned regardless even if it was later on though.
Wayne absolutely got fired. JER really preferred Drake/John and wrote Roman poorly. There was absolutely still story for Roman even with only his children. Idk why it never happened. Eventually he bolted town (right after Sami's was raped) and became low key a dead beat dad. If the show and the writers didn't respect the character I am not sure why you bring him back at all is my point I suppose. Josh Taylor's version certainly hasn't helped the cause lol.
