Here I go getting in people's pocket books, but I think they should drop guarantees and just pay vets nicely negotiated episode rates. This is why I think seasonal, and less episodes per week was a better idea financially, and *wishfully*, in terms of story quality with a stronger concentrated focus per individual episode.

I refuse to panic but I don't get it on any level. OLTL is supposedly on fire so wouldn't it make more sense to keep that creative team? And LB is an AN protege so wouldn't it make sense to keep her with Agnes? I don't get it. Both RC and LB have been with or around their respective shows since Jesus was a toddler but now RC is going to be a scriptwriter for GH and LB is going to be one for OLTL?

Really? Contract issues aside, how does that make sense?

The reason they potentially can't keep that team is because Ron Carlivati is still under contract to ABC for another year and up to now, ABC has refused to release him.

I wouldn't mind seeing either of them co-HW with someone else but I'd also like someone new. Lorraine has also HW for OLTL before, though IMO not with spectacular results - but who could work magic with Chris Whitesell?

For all the talk about AFTRA, what union are writers governed under and just maybe thats still open too. THere have really been no writing announcements aside from a rumor about LB joining PP and I don't know if that ever came from a legit source. Maybe she doesn't want to be a HW. Who knows. Or maybe she like RC is still under contact with ABC and they want to keep her. I wish they'd send her over to GH over OLTL.

I wouldn't mind losing JHC and LB but it's weird for one or the other to leave to go to another PP soap. Maybe they mean she'll be writing for OLTL for just the next month depending on how much writing they have left?

Toups?

I've heard nothing about Broderick going to OLTL until today so if the mags are reporting it they must not be plumbing the usual crappy wells and talking to someone new. Or they've found a well all their own.

And I'm pretty sure the mags mean Broderick would be writing for OLTL on PP. RC is locked into OLTL on ABC til the end.

True. If I recall the strike correctly, the writers belong to the WGA.

WTH!? I haven't seen the actual write-up myself yet (will try to find at least one of the magazines tonight) but apparently both SOD and SOW are reporting that Lorraine Broderick will not be staying with AMC, she is being moved to OLTL.

WTF? What sense does that make?

WGA, Writers Guild of America, and I don't know what their situation is.

ETA: Sorry marce, didn't see you'd already answered.

The issue is PP has already shown an inability to think and look outside the box. I would hate to end up having some other used up hack headwriter ending up at AMC.

I don't think Addie Walsh wants to be HW or it would have happened at one of the 98 times they changed headwriters while she was there.

I still cannot understand how this LB move makes any sense...unless both magazines screwed up and she is going to GH, not OLTL, because ABC is holding her to her contract.

Like I stated many times in the past, I believe that RC and FV are very overrated. Thus, OLTL doesn't need them.
