I think she probably made the right decision to not wait for PP but I can't say "Good for her for going to a show that's going to treat her like crap and make people think she's a bad actress,"

Granted I'm just being a fangirl but I doubt even Y&R can make Debbi Morgan look like a bad actress.

As for the rest, a check is a check. If and when PP gets their stuff straight then they can come back to her with an offer.

Honestly Y&R makes everyone look bad these days. It's nothing against Debbi.

I just wanted to point out that a lot of the criticism of the AMC actors moving to Bell soaps is based more on how poorly these shows use new actors. I don't blame Jacob or Debbi for moving on, especially since PP seems to be up in the air about AMC.

Well you would be surprised or maybe not at the laundrey list of fine actors they have chewed and spit out. When you can make Genie Francis look like a cartoon character and in a very bad way to the point where the soap press is bashing HER and literally trash a fine actress like Maura West where the press has bashed her too, thats talent. I have never in my life seen such as disregard and waste of premium soap talent. And every one of these hires have been pure casting stunts which is exactly what Debbie is. I honestly hope it works out for her but this show is in such a repulsive state right now, its not looking good. And Y&R no where has the care in writing AMC had even under the prior writing regime AMC was 1000 percent better than the mess and rampany misogny running on Y&R these days. THis was a show known for rich strong chararacters and sharp savvy sometimes ruthless females who have all been gutted as the men preen around shoving their manliness all over screen. Imagine a show full of Zach Slaters and David Haywards and you have Y&R

I am thrilled to see the 3 AMC guys on a CBS talk show.

Maura West got strong reviews for her performances, even though she was a miscast. Genie Francis got bad reviews because she's a mediocre actress also miscast in a poorly written role. I don't think the writing is so bad it makes everybody look bad. If they're going to be lazy it will show regardless and mediocre actors (like Genie or Amelia or Christel) need strong writing to make anything work.

I think Debbi will do fine. She'll be great as Yolanda and give her layers and probably have chemistry with actors they would never pair her with. Then after her one month story is over they'll get bored and she'll get kicked to the curb. No matter how big a star she is, don't forget she IS part of the black storyline. They only get limited screentime as it is. Hell, Olivia, a 15 year vet came back and she was the only returning vet who never got a storyline, whether it be a short one or not. Same for Malcolm, albeit in recast form.

My point with Debbi is that no matter how well she fits the show, it won't work out due to her race, bad writing and the writers losing interest and moving onto the next star they trick into joining the cast. Still, she'll probably have at least a year so I wouldn't expect her to join AMC anytime soon.

It's not so much Y&R's crap as they have a history of misusing and dumping any actor they hire. I think she probably made the right decision to not wait for PP but I can't say "Good for her for going to a show that's going to treat her like crap and make people think she's a bad actress," although I realize in this economy it's smart to take what you can. For me it was never that she was wrong to not wait for PP, it was - anyone who joins Y&R has a bad experience.

It does prove IMHo that Debbi has no problems working in LA--there were many naysayers (yes, on here, if you can imagine ;) ) who c.laimed that along with the belief that Frons moved AMC to LA to get rid of the expensive David Canary and try to drop Susan Lucci, he wanted to do the same thing with Debbi who I believe still lives in... CT? I frankly didn't believe this argument at all (I think it was obvious Canary would have retired anyway although he may have been more willing to do small appearances), and it looks like it wasn't.

Interesting but a few AMC stars will be on CBS's The Talk the week after AMC goes off the air

http://insidetv.ew.c...up-cbs-daytime/

As that article points out, this seems to at least have been done somewhat on purpose. They've had Lucci before, but otherwise never any non CBS soap stars--and on the West Coast The Talk airs opposite AMC--and will now be opposite The Chew when this happens (I'm not sure about the East Coast).

This has been a problem with B&B for a while, but now seems to be an issue at Y&R too--they hire a well loved soap actor, and then after the initial story don't know what to do with them and they quietly fade away (or are killed off...) And yes, add in the fact she's a minority, and I do have a feeling she might just last a year or so. I do think Debbi's strong enough that she can make almost anything work, but...

The writing is nonsensical and dehumanizing. It really does wear people down. I no longer recognize once-reliable performers like Sharon Case or Peter Bergman.

The only two actors who tend to get past bad writing are the two actors the show hates - MTS and Jess Walton. I honestly think the people who run Y&R are so obsessed with power plays that they would rather have a decimated canvas.

OLTL has only announced 4 actors, but we do know that they are at least asking OLTL actors. With AMC they haven't asked anyone except Lucci. Clearly something is going on behind the scenes.

I wonder if they already have ideas about who will write and produce OLTL?

Anyway, a part of me suspects--again this could be optimism--that they're waiting to make some sort of announcement soon after AMC goes off the air, which probably would get them more media attention... But I am getting impatient one way or the other...

It's worse at Y&R, because the material is often something that will take away most of what made a performer stand out. Stephen Nichols, always so charismatic, is now a dullard. Genie Francis, who has a lot of warmth and empathy as an actress, is now lost in a John Waters film. Maura West was made up to look like a 60 year old and was given such poisonous material that some fans were saying "the bitch deserved to die" by the end.

B&B is just - as always - grinding mediocrity, and viewers are probably so fixated on the bad plastic surgery of most of the lead cast members that any new characters fall into the background.

Maryland, with her newish husband. I wonder what her Y&R schedule will be like compared to her AMC one.

Well RC has a deal with ABC and is going to GH

FV nothing is said he may go to GH or he may stay at OLTL

Rumor has it that Jean Passante could become OLTL headwriter

Ive also heard that if FV go to GH that Gary Tomlin or Paul Rauch could return as OLTL EP

FV is signed to the same contract with ABC as RC, though, no?

Passante! Horrific.
