Of course, there is no doubt that Lucci is by far AMC's biggest draw. Yet even with her as part of the cast (and I apologize for offending her many fans), AMC still became the lowest rated soap. Thus, I doubt getting her on board guarantees much of anything in terms of success. (Obviously, AMC's chances of success on PP are much lower without her, however.)

I'm glad you said this. No truer words have been spoken. IMO, AMC being successful on PP has nothing to do with Susan Lucci. As you've stated AMC has tanked with her on the show. I think we all know a by now a good story is what will bring in viewers. Though I think RH's return brought viewers back, I think the story is what's making them hang around. Hopefully, these two show will give the fans something to tune in for.

Yep and certainly Allison Sweeney's star power these days(yes she has the second highest Q rating to Lucci)

Seriously? I would never have guessed that. But I guess it makes sense.

Just off topic a bit. Does anyone know how The Real Housewives repeats are doing on NBC? They marketed it as a companion piece to Days and it really doesn't appear to have benefitted Days but I was wondering how the repeats of Wives was doing. I am kind of wondering if they could be looking at these shows as a companion piece on their network.

Here in NY, there is no more Real Housewives repeats on NBC. Nate Berkus show got moved to 2PM after DAYS, Some NY news special at 3 then Ellen at 4.

Interesting. I thought it was part of NBC daytimes std programming. I guess it wasn't doing well

It's so sad that you feel the need to put this caveat in everytime you mention OLTL.

Sorry :( it's just that I already seem to be considered an OLTL hater, even though I watch every day and have basically since '92...

Sadly, AMC needs Lucci's star power. Plus I have no doubt that Bravo would love to have SuLu as one of "their" stars so PP isn't just offering them a show, they would be offering them Susan. I think she knows that and wants to be compensated accordingly. Good for her. After watching the men at ABC get treated like they were what soaps were all about, I like seeing Susan hold this much power.

Agreed.

I would not believe the deadlone piece where Lucci i concerned

What the "insider" and I use that term lightly said, is PP does not believe they have a chance of being able to sell AMC to any cable network without Susan Lucci because AMC and Lucci are almost synonymous. It doesn't mean they don't need others but they feel part of the AMC "brand" is Erika Kane. So while Cameron Mathison might have a decent Q rating hes not identified enough with the show so to speak. I think OLTL is in a diff situation. They still have long term legacy characters around like Viki, CLint, Blair who are sort of identified with OLTL while people like Ted King from what I read and Easton believe it or not have more recognizable face outside of OLTL. Not that they are popular but they have done enough work I guess outside of the soap to be more recognizable. Take that for what its work. The issue with AMC is who are the powerhouse legacy characters aside from Erika? THey don't exist. rumor is that OLTL is also "recasting" Jessica with someone more recognizable than Bree adding to the Q rating factor. It could justify PP tabling AMC for the time being and retooling it so to speak which doesn't sound like something they were planning for at this point.

That makes sense, although I think Tad and Angie and Jesse, and to a tiny extent Opal do have some of that element you mentioned with the OLTL legacy characters--there's a reason Tad was on the Oprah special. Of ocurse it sounds like MEK is on the fence about re signing (though so was Michael Easton by the same rumours) and we've definitely lost Angie...

How many affiliates are even airing the Housewives repeats? The Seattle NBC certainly isn't, and never has...

Well, if there were no truth to it, surely Lucci would've issued a statement denying it.

And really...I can't remember Deadline being wrong about anything.

UGH well I guess this "news" about Lucci leaving and AMC being backburnered, has spread like wildfire as intended. I got several texts today while at work from three different friends telling me that Susan Lucci officially dropped any chance of being on the show, and so the show was backburnered which means it won't happen...

Well, if there were no truth to it, surely Lucci would've issued a statement denying it.

Right, but they basically said that Lucci turned down the offer made to her. Not refused to consider any offer, etc (I know some will say that's just semantics and me holding out hope--so be it LOL)

Only the O&O NBC affiliates were airing Housewives with Days.

I'll bite, I have no idea--which do O&O own, or how many?

While I agree Deadline has been spot on in the past the fact no official word has come from Susan Lucci or PP leaves me with the impression that negotiations are still happening.
