Debbi's not going to go to PP until her Y&R gig flatlines, IMO - so probably April at the latest.

The wait may be good for the show. It's been a mess for a long time. And I think they need Susan - and I think a lot of this deal drama is just standard paper tiger negotiation kabuki that happens all the time, I think they'll get her - and then I think they need to figure out how to totally remold that show. Because it's obvious Frons and ABC thought they could lift David Canary seamlessly out of the show and that JR, Michael Nouri and co. would just naturally fill the void, and it didn't happen. A lot of things became very disorganized. With OLTL it may have a somewhat smoother transition, and I am glad PP is taking an interest in allegedly focusing on stories versus Frons's faves, and remolding that canvas, but AMC can also certainly thrive. It's just a bit more obvious work up front, given the possibility of losing so many key players. That said, now that PP has easily nabbed people like Easton, I'm not totally convinced the allegedly 'disinterested parties' at AMC like MEK or AM or Thorsten Kaye will say no, either. A lot of these people aren't gonna get better deals again.

This is not to say that I want Zach or John on AMC or OLTL - I think the shows are better off without them, without CM though he's a nice guy, etc. But I understand why PP has aimed for landing them.

Landing Lucci is key to PP being able to even market the show to other networks. She is the only recognizable face on that show and has the highest Q rating of any soap actor which is why she is so important. While we all know AMC could go on without her, not having her limits PP"s options in terms of marketing the show to cable networks. And while people may shrug at Q factors, the entertainment business uses them and is why some shows get picked up and some don't. A cable network like Bravo wants to be assured they have some recognizable faces and appeal to not just the soap viewers but a broader potential audience.

ALl this from a reliable insider on another board by the way.

Ugh just kill the show then. Aside from Kendall, none of the others have any ties to the canvas

Every ABC show has at least one of these characters: AMC has Greenlee, OLTL has Natalie/Rex/David and GH has Sam/Skye (I love Skye but relating her to every character from Pine Valley to Port Charles was stupid.) and Ethan (if what I saw when I tried to watch GH is true.)

Greenlee could easily be rebooted on the show without Ryan. The issue for PP is likely Cameron Mathison's high Q rating. He's a fun, amiable guy when he's not Ryan Lavery, and Ryan used to be fun too. The pairing is what sucks. If PP has no qualms with separating the couple and pairing them with others - and I suspect they won't care - they can continue to co-exist on the show as individuals.

Operative words being "at the latest." After all, we are talking about MAB's Y&R. Girlfriend might be taken TO THE LAKE before Christmas. ;)

Yup. The transition wasn't smooth, and no way would AMC fans have settled for Michael [!@#$%^&*] Nouri as a replacement. Judy Blye Wilson should have been taken TO THE LAKE for that one.

    • It's quite confusing what she's doing with her character. I'm not from the DMV, but what is that accent? Is she pulling a Dorit? Also, why are Dani and Pamela acting like they're broke. They don't have any money aside to start up a business? With their background in the modeling world, why would they even need a physical studio? They have connections (and Dani wasn't afraid to mention it when she was tasked to replace Chelsea in the fashion show when Chels pulled out). They can literally use Dani's small catwalk in her house to test potential models. They can easily scout online using social media. It's 2025! Dani is supposedly a recognized model from her day, then have her act like it. I know some people are saying it's a stretch, but in the 90s there were plenty of models that graced covers and runways with the likes of Naomi and Christie that were never as big, but they still rubbed elbows had successful careers. Dani could easily fall into that category. Also, it's not like a lot of this big name 80s and 90s models didn't go on to live very typical lives after their moment faded...why couldn't Dani be that.
    • Ashley just wants to schtup Andre. She needed to create a big meltdown in order to get rid of Derek and feel no guilt. Doug needed to lay Joey out on the floor. He needs to get some courage and beat Joey down to the ground. Kat turning down a date with Tomas to see if Eva was locked up is a sign she's going to lose him. Even without Eva in the picture she was going to have problems. The way she talked to him when he bumped into her and she didn't know it was him seemed to be a red flag too. Leslie has revealed a whole lot of the truth on her own. Without her making all those comments to Kat she wouldn't have ended up at the police station.
    • Do we think Shelley Curtis is the director KM said was brought out of retirement to help them set up the production side of BTG?
    • TBH the only soap I remotely liked Cady on was ATWT   I dunno WTH she's doing with Pamela on this show but it's cringe beyond words

    • Regarding the mobster storyline: The scripts, the cardroom set, and the writing for Joey -- are all terrible. They seem to be writing a realistic depiction of compulsive gambling as an addiction, showing that it pops into his head all the time -- it has become hardwired into his brain.  The APA (American Psychological Association) describes compulsive gambling as having a similar effect on the physical brain as drug and alcohol addiction. https://www.apa.org/monitor/2023/07/how-gambling-affects-the-brain I think Jason Graham (Doug) is doing an adequate job playing Doug as a compulsive gambler, with the thoughts/urges coming into his head all the time, and being unable to stop. However, the cardroom set is awful and the mobster storyline is a bad cliché, so it's all so uninteresting to watch. I think Mr. Graham is doing the best he can with the crap they gave him to work with. If anyone reading or watching has a gambling issue, check out Gamblers Anonymous.  They have many types of meetings -- in-person, online, video, audio, etc.  They also have resources for friends/family of compulsive gamblers.
