Members JaneAusten
lol at the LW comment as for most of the OLTL cast staying, I think people are awfully presumptuous. Just becasue the unions allegedly signed off doesn't mean the salaries, contracts, packages, benefits whatever constitutes a compensation package for a soap actor is fair and reasonable or close to what they were all making. I read in a lot of places people saying "Where what else are these people going to do". Some of them might go off and pursue whatever other careers they may have(Easton back to writing whatever the heck he was writing, etc..). I would hope none of them are sitting around waiting for an offer and are at least persuing other opportunities. We know the AMC folks are. Members dragonflies
From We Love Soaps, they compiled tweets from actor's: @rickygoldin (Ricky Paull Goldin): Hi live from the last day on the set of ALL MY CHILDREN!! Crazy emotional!! @CJLeBlanc (Christian LeBlanc): Congratulations to the AMAZING cast and crew of ALL MY CHILDREN on your last day of shooting...Job well done!!! @denisevasi (Denise Vasi): Bittersweet feelings as I start my last day in Pine Valley! Big girls don't cry... or @ least they try not to ☺ @NancyLeeGrahn (Nancy Lee Grahn): Thinking of "All My Children" cast, crew and production staff as they film last show today.........for now. @knowjr (J.R. Martinez): The roller-coaster begins. Last night I was at the top w/ the #DWTS announcement & today I'm riding down w/ the ending of #AMC #HighsandLows @AMCStephanie (Stephanie Gatschet): "The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance." ~Alan Watts
Members Adam
I like Stephanie's tweet the best! Denise Vasi, judging by her airtime, probably has been in the studio once in 3 months. So, really it shouldn't be that big of an adjustment for her...
Members skiman12082004
This is all so bittersweet. I am just remaining hopeful and after today's amazing episode we just have to be grateful we're not losing AMC forever.
Members DRW50
There are only about six or seven people currently on OLTL I'd want to see move on to PP. Of course that would be bad publicity, if most of them didn't get involved, but I would be relieved if some of the show's worst characters or most bored actors disappeared. Members Adam
Today's episode was just as much of a hot mess as the past few weeks worth of epis have been, just helped along and masked by a very amazing and touching performance by Debbi Morgan. I applaud your faith though. I hope you are right.
Members Dana
If what we're hearing about PP and the money they are allegedly putting into this and saying they're not going to cut back on anything, it seems they have more money than common sense. If it were me, I would start small and work my way up once I see what the ratings are like and how I could make money on this venture.
Members JaneAusten
But who is saying that. NO one from PP came about and publicly said that. They most certainly have venture capital and have money they have to invest upfront but does anyone really know what kind of money they have and long term they aren;t in business to just spend money they have to make money somewhere along the way. I am sure they want to reassure people but at the same time if these are smart business people I am sure they are being pragmatic.
Members JaneAusten
Bad PR for who? If a few actors don't go who will care and who will it create bad PR for? Does anyone care if Rex and fake gigi dont go?
Members DRW50
Any time an actor says they won't go to PP it's spun as failure and a sign of how doomed PP is. That's what happened with Jacob Young, Debbi Morgan, etc.
Members marceline
That's just a few people here in the online echo chamber. The rest of the world is slightly more tethered to reality.
Members ~bl~
LW knows what it is like to see a soap opera die. She was on Loving and then it morphed into The City and then died for good. Sad day for those at AMC...hope we get pictures eventually even if they are depressing.
Members John
Jerry Ver Dorn for one has said all this stuff in two Podcast interviews recently. JVD said PP has Money and the Guys behind it know what they are doing That PP bought all sets props and costumes and that right there cost millions That PP is not gonna gut OLTL and wants as many actors to continue on with them I Think Im gonna take JVD's word. he's in the know Plus we know that Susan Lucci's contract offer matches her current one at ABC
Members JaneAusten
I am not questioning what JVD said but no one knows who or if anyone got contract offers, what kind of money they have spent or what kind of money they have and I am sure they have a lot of money. THese are experienced business people and I would expect they have a lot of venture capital. My point was which I didn;t make clear it doesn't matter how much money they have. Like all the .com's in the early 2000's that went belly up a lot of cash up front doesn't matter in the long run because ultimately they have to be profitable. If these online ventures end up losing money it won't matter how much cash PP has. That said I am not saying these people don't have experience I think I said they were likely pragmatic but I doubt JVD has personal insight into their financial position.
