Starts off talking about how when SL was cast as Erica in 1970, the suits were so uncertain about her ability to play Erica that she spent the first few weeks on probation. THey need not have worried, she proved to be lightning and sex in a bottle, and became the most popular & endearing character in soaps.

They talk about the show being cancelled. Lucci says it's hard to make sense of it then & now. It seems ABC has made quite a commitment to reality tv and this transition is happening really quick. Is it the dumbing down of America? That's what you hear. Yet she thinks there has been a misjudgment of the audience.

She personally witnessed the uproar about the cancellation. People were emotional at her booksigning. They've been told by the network that our viewers went away, that they don't care about our show like they used too. It's just not true. They still want their characters & stories, they still want more.

Lucci doesn't discount the buzz that ABC has wanted out of the soap business for years. She doesn't have answers, but she has alot of questions. Was there disdain for daytime on the part of Frons? Did he ever really like what they did on AMC?

Another question is: Will Lucci move to the internet? AMC won't be AMC without Erica Kane. She says she's doing alot of listening and waiting to see how this develops. TV Guide says it sounds like she might at least help kick off the venture, if only out of respect for Agnes Nixon. Lucci says she owes her everything, that everything good that's happened in her career is due to Agnes creating AMC.

Lucci says she's still in denial about the show ending on ABC. It doesn't feel real to her. They're still shooting the end of August. Everyone's still giving 1100%. They're still fitting her for fabulous outfits. How can this possibly be going away?

Certainly not with Erica seeking a man who will help her live happily ever after. Lucci's not sure that Erica should have a man that helps her live happily ever after. She says is Erica ever truly capable of being truly happy? Can any man really satisy her? She doesn't know and thinks Erica doesn't know either. She has yet to see the final scripts, but she likes the idea that we leave Erica the way we found her-in all her excitement & enthusiasm for life wondering "What's next?"

I love Lucci so much. She so knows her character and I love her love for Agnes Nixon. I love her take on how Erica should end.

Its all about money in the end and if Disney/ABC felt these shows were profitable enough they would have kept them. And they clearly have no interest in evolving or improving the product.

I think SL will make the move to PP short term to help the show get grounded but I don't believe she'll be in it long term. Maybe on occassion. I think while she has a lot of loyalty to Agnes I have always felt she's wanted in some ways to move on but more out of loyalty she hasn't. This is the perfect scenario for her career IMO.

Let me guess but Zendall getting a remarriage ceremony would probably do extremely well on that site over Erica.

I don't get why peolpe would be so against this. Unless there are a majority of people who just don't want Erica married and I confess I am one of them.
