I am not shocked either KR. Between her poor performances of late and all the other controversy I knew she wasn't gonna go as far as everyone thought.

Chris B was right. Nothing against overweight people because God knows I know alot of them and I love alot of them but AI knows that after season 2 and season 3 where the winners were very hard to market that they can;t have a repeat of Ruben and Fantasia. I will even include Diana in there too. Most of last year's top 12 was very marketable and most of season 2 was too. Its very hard to sell certain people with certain styles. The person also has to be likeable and Mandisa took a huge hit with the anit-gay controversy. She also started coming off as a little preachy. I am religious too but some people may get turned off by that. Simon warned her of that with her song last week and this week her performance was all over the place. That is not a good combination. In the beginning stages I thought she was a lock for top 3 at least but last week gave me doubts and Tuesday cemented my beleif that she wouldn't last much longer and she didn't.

Can't wait to have Queen next week. Chris should rock!!! :) .

I'm not that surprised either, because I am one of those (obviously *many* of those) who got turned off by the anti-gay remarks. Despite the fact that past contestants (Clay Aiken, Jim Verranos, Mario Vazquez) have to hide their sexuality from the public, AI is a very GAY show!! So if a large fanbase hears that one of the contestants is anti-gay--- and let's face it, we were the ones supporting her cuz we like our fat chick fag-hags--- we're gonna pull our support and votes are going to drop.

So in the end, looks like prayers don't always work. ;)

BTW... that's not an anti-religion dig, as I myself, along with many family and friends, are Christians, but we're not anti-gay. Gay doesn't equal athiesm.

MANDISA SENT HOME? WHO'S COUNTING THE VOTES? THE BUSH WHORES FROM FLORIDA OF 2000?

Darlin', the Bush whores would be the ones rigging the votes in her favor!

Well I have no reason to watch anymore.

Also, all I see in that anti gay stuff is that she likes the author. Does it say anywhere that she is actually anti-gay and homophobic. I think it's just a ploy to cause drama. Unless Mandisa actually says something I'll believe it's just a rumor.

Bucky sucks. Nuff said. Seems like a nice guy but he is the suckiest one left.

Bucky may suck but Ace is easily the most annoying one, if not worse than Bucky. I mean, the way he WHINES every song...I'm not sure if that's even the right word but he just freaking SUCKS ASS with the boy band schtick that went out about six years ago!!:angry::angry:

I'm glad Mandisa finally went, that anti-gay thing stopped me from voting, but would you really want her to win? In the UK, they had an overweight woman who acted like she was missing a limb win and it was just awful. She ended up doing so poorly that they cancelled the show. Look at Ruben, where is he? I know I may offend some, but I'm just being realistic. Unless you are a rapper, it's very difficult to become a pop star and be overweight. EVen with actors it's difficult.

What I really like about this season is that while the contestants aren't all amazingly brilliant vocals, they are a diverse bunch. I can see each of them going off and being a different type of Pop Idol.

Look at Madonna and Janet Jackson. Two of the most successful female artists of all time and they aren't very strong vocalists. It's about the full package and I think thats what some of these people are bringing.

I don't agree about Mandisa. Yes, she has left the competition, but that doesn't mean she won't make it big in the music industry.

During her time on the show, she slowly weaved in her Christianity and I think that her powerful voice (remember, the only reason she is gone because of poor song choice) will earn her a successful career in the Contemporary Christian industry. And it doesn't matter what size you are there. Yeah, a lot of the singers are HOT and TIGHT and FIT in that industry too but they wouldn't shun her for being big on Christian radio. I think it's a perfect fit for her and am glad that she made it this far.

As for the so-called "anti-gay" comments I don't think that's what made her lose the competition. It was poor song choice, pure and simple. I mean, Shania Twain?! yeah, like THAT'll flaunt her voice.

Mandisa's performance was bad. But a couple of others were worse.

Kellie ROCKED "Fancy" and Taylor was amazing, esp considering his strepthroat.

I hope the fake Pickle will not win! I'm so glad Ryan called her out on her act.

I think Mandisa should try making it in gospel. I think that's one genre that doesn't care how much you weigh, as long as you believe it and can belt out the songs.

I want a guy to win this year. Either Taylor or Chris. Someone who won't do just straight pop or country.

I'm sad mandisa got kicked off. One bad week and it's just over? Ace is horrible. He's a pretty boy but horrible. His vocals are weak.

Kellie is beyond fake. In the new US Weekly, there's a small article about her pretending to be fake to try and be endearing. Whatever.

I think Paula is on drugs or something, but what ethnicity is she? it's been bugging me for a while. Is she Spanigh, black, mixed or what?

Honestly, we knew Mandisa wasn't going to win. It will be either Kellie, Chris, or Taylor. Maybe Paris, but that's a stretch.

So, it doesn't really matter who leaves when, really. IMO. A year from now I won't remember the order they left in anyway.

  • Member

Yeah, I never remember the order they leave in except for final four. Even that's a stretch sometimes.

Mandisa wasn't going to win. I was hopeful she'd pull an upset out, but eh. Taylor, Chris or Kellie WILL win. Katharine and Ace are probably going to end battling for fourth. Just because Ace is pretty doesn't mean he should continue. I miss the pure days of AI when singing actually mattered.

She lists this person as one of her idols on her Idol bio.

I hadn't thought of this, but you're probably correct! :) I was talking more of the mainstream.

Oh and I must comment on the pretty that is Ace. The guy is so freaking hot, but he comes off creepy to me. He tries to do these long meaningful stares and instead he gives his this creepy, vacant, I'M A CREEP stares. It totally takes away from his hotness, IMO. WHat really won me over was his Father Figure performance, but since then he's been disappointing. Still, I think he could be molded into a solid Pop Idol

And that makes her homophobic?

TV Guide's Entertainment news today has Mandisa's comments re the anti-gay rumors. Mandisa is NOT anti-gay.

Sad to see her go, but she did suck this week for the first time'

Country should be banned from AMERICAN IDOL. There should be no country night. There's only 2 singers that would do well on country, Kellie & Bucky, the rest no.

I hope Queen week next week will be the un-doing of Taylor or Kellie. I cannot imagine either of these doing a Queen song. I hope both are horrible and the bottom 2. They are the 2 worst left. They should've left before Mandisa, Ayla or Lisa or even Gedeon.

  • Member

IF they should ban country music, they might as well ban all of the other genres as well. They can't ban a type of music just because most of them aren't the "country" type. Ridculous...

And besides...a GREAT singer, can sing anything...whether it's in their 'comfort' zone or not.

They are the 2 worst left.

Gedeon was NOT better than Taylor, that's for sure. I don't know why you don't like Taylor, but he CAN sing. No doubt about it. And he deserves to be where he is..

So it is so long to Mandisa. It was a shocker that she was so popular...but in reality she did a PISS POOR job on Tuesday night!! I knew she would be bottom 3... but not out!! :o LOL....so happy Paris was in the bottom 3...she was nervous and tried to hard once again!! Very well deserved spot in my opinion!! Was a little surprised and yet relieved that Taylor was not in the bottom 3. Elliot was very nervous and struggled with the song. That hurt him alot and his placement in the bottom 3 was spot on.
