American Idol

I think Katherine being in the bottom three sucked. Ace, Lisa & Kellie should have been in the bottom. Ace IMHO is only getting by on his looks and within a few weeks he'll be gone. Based on past history, the winners of AI have never been in the bottom three. Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia and Carrie never were in the bottom three. Just based on that history alone, I think it'll happen again this year. Someone who was never in the bottom three will win.

Fantasia did experience being in the bottom three... Do you remember Elton John blasting America for being racist because of it? Actually I believe the other two black girls in the competition was a part of the bottom three which caused Elton John's controversial statement. Anyway, do you remember that Fantasia laughed and clapped when she was called out as a bottom three? When asked at a later interview why she laughed and clapped, she stated something to the affect that she wasn't any better than anyone else. At least I think that's what she said. If anyone else remembers what she said verbatim please correct me.

Yeah, I remember the whole Jennifer Hudson, Latoya and Fantasia bottom three. I was stunned because Jon Peter and John Stevens were STILL in the damn competition. I think teenage girls flood the phone lines, I do. I mean in the first season, all five girls lasted through the majority of the season, and guys were first out. I'm surprised we've had so many female winners. Anyway...

MSNBC poll results, based on the question: "Who Should Win"

1. Chris Daughtry - 32%

2. Elliot Yamin - 20%

3. Taylor Hicks - 14%

4. Katharine McPhee - 13%

5. Mandisa - 11%

6. Kellie Pickler - 5%

7. Paris Bennett - 3%

8. Ace Young - 2%

9. Bucky Covington - 1%

Now if only these pollers actually reflected what could happen I would love this.. I do think a guy is gonna win. Katharine or Mandisa could pull of an "upset" though. Although for that poll, Lisa was still an option, but not that it matters, she too had 1%.

AOL poll results:

1. Kellie Pickler (you gotta be fuckin kidding me)

2. Katharine McPhee

3. Chris Daughtry

4. Taylor Hicks

5. Mandisa

6. Elliot Yamin

7. Paris Bennett

8. Ace Young

9. Bucky Covington

Now, these AOL poll results some somewhat of the same thing as MSNBC, except for the top vote getters, which is nearly the same just a little different. I just don't get the AOL poll results, LOL. I cant freaking believe Kellie continues to take #1. But actually, AOL does reveal some totals. Earlier this week, Katharine had 32% of the votes. Lisa and Bucky had like 1% and 2% so...

Different strokes I guess. I thought Season 1 was terrible and the Top 12 was pathetic. I see this season's cast as the best from top to bottom.

I think part of the judges personas on the show are their real personas and the rest is an act. I think over time, they've bought into the public's perceptions of them and become more and more like that, Randy the dog, Simon the hard ass, and Paula the sweet nut job.

I totally agree. Simon was actually normal in the first season. Randy wasn't all "yo dawg! we got a HOT ONE!!" and Paula was also normal. Simon definitely puts on his [!@#$%^&*] act.

And you know, go listen or watch Season 1 again if you can. Kelly singing "Natural Woman" is fantastic. Justin singing "For Once in My Life" and "Let's Stay Together" rock and Christina Christian totally nailed "Ain't No Sunshine" and Tamyra nailed "A House is not a Home". Granted, they had bad nights too, but to me, they are loads better than this batch. We have some good talent but they are great. And I still am left scratching my head how Nikki lasted so damn long. She was the worst of the bunch. Likeable but compared to the others her singing sucked.

Yeah Katherine shouldn't be leaving anytime soon - she is good...but last night she RUINED that Christina song for me.

Sad to see you go Lisa...but it was your time.

Lisa is gone bye bye, eh? I think she was pretty good...but guess she didnt really connect with alot of people. I actually preferred her over Paris. Katherine being in the bottom 3 was a shocker!! :o Ace should have been sent home too. I dont think he will last too long either. Next 3 to go in any order are Bucky, Ace, and Kellie.

Next three out are Bucky, Ace and Paris.

Kellie will sneak by.

Yes, it sucks but I think she will. Just a bad feeling I have.

I think we could see any combination of Chris/Katharine/Taylor/Elliot in the finals.

Mandisa will be one of the final 3

I hated Lisa after I got used to her. She did those old old songs every week and was so young. That was never, ever going to work. She needed to accept her pop roots and act her age.

It was really sad to see Katherine in the bottom three, Ace too! These two are my favorties, but I know neither will win. I think I just like these two because I think they're hot. But they have good voices as well. I would buy their cds and a swimsuit calender.

I don't like Paris or Elliot and I do really like Bucky, but he won't win either. Don't like Kellie, don't like the bald guy, OH YES and I LOVE the gray haired guy. He's cute, but I've forgotten his name. I'd like to see him win, but again I doubt it.

Here's an article on Mandisa, see if I vote for her again!

Idol finalist Mandisa is big fan of antigay writer

Is an American Idol finalist a proponent of the "ex-gay" movement?

That's what some viewers are asking following Mandisa's performance and on-camera comments during Tuesday's live show. For the episode's “Songs of the 21st Century” theme, Mandisa chose the Mary Mary gospel belter “Wanna Praise You,” preceding the song with the following introduction: "This song goes out to everybody that wants to be free. Your addiction, lifestyle, or situation may be big, but God is bigger!" In the taped segment beforehand, Mandisa said the song "means a lot to me because it's a testimony that there's nothing too hard for God."

On the American Idol Web site, the 29-year-old Mandisa, a native of Antioch, Tenn., lists author and lecturer Beth Moore as her personal American idol. Mandisa writes on the site that Moore “inspires me to live more like Jesus, and I want to do the same.”

Moore is the author of such books as Breaking Free: Making Liberty in Christ a Reality in Life, which contains the following passage: "A young Christian girl has a harsh abusive father. She grows up with a fear and distaste for men. Satan supplies a slightly older woman who seems tender and caring. The comforting relationship turns into a physical relationship, so the young woman assumes she must be homosexual. In her heart she knows what she is doing is wrong, but she feels helpless without her new comforter. Soon she starts socializing with other women who are practicing homosexuality, because they will support her new habit with the lies she needs to continue. She avoids the Bible and chooses books that advocate homosexuality. She drops all relationships except those that support the fraudulent attachment with lies.... Scary, isn't it?"

According to Moore's Web site, she founded the Living Proof Ministries in 1994 with the purpose of teaching women how to love and live on God's Word. Part of Living Proof Ministries' mission statement includes the statement “We believe that 'Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners' and can fully redeem and powerfully use even those who consider they have been the worst.” (1 Timothy 1:15). She also provides links to "ex-gay" groups including Exodus International and Exodus Youth.

Idol representatives told The Advocate they don't comment on the personal lives of contestants. (Neal Broverman, The Advocate)

In an ideal world, Chris, Elliot, Mandisa and Katharine are in the final four. Taylor fifth. Gag me Kellie sixth. Paris seventh. Ace eighth. Bucky ninth.

Yeah it was a bad night for all on Tuesday minus Taylor, but damn, Kat in the bottom 3? Who is voting for Bucky?

That's my ideal top 4. Kellie needs to be out pronto.

I think Katherine is great but I don't want her to win. Firstly, the show needs a male winner and they have one now that is actually worthy of the title. Secondly, she's been in the bottom! I know Carrie was never in the bottom... ever. I don't think Fantasia was either, but I could be wrong about that.

Just get Kellie OUT!! I wish the show would promote Elliott too, they don't promote him and he is much better than Ace, Bucky and KELLIE!

Ugh - that Mandisa article about her being anti-gay really upsets me...I'm hoping it's not true at all, but unfortunately I think it might be :(

  • Member

Who cares if it's true? Political or religious beliefs shouldn't prevent you from voting in Mandisa. If you believe she has the pipes, don't vote in some idiot like Ace just to keep a Christian out of the running.

If Mandisa expects to get far in Hollywood or to make friends in Hollywood, she better learn to love the fags. They're the ones giving her makeup tips, fashion advice, and hell, they're the only ones who will dance with her. ;)
