I'm sorry to hear about Becky Herbst's illness. That's very serious and I hope she has a full recovery.

GH of all the soaps is the one that still seems most willing to temp recast. In the past I might have been more bothered by it but these days, the soaps are so terrible, a new actor in a familiar role is one of the only ways to get some entertainment.

I think we have been seeing more temp recasts recently because soaps can not go back and reschedule stuff as easily as they used to. Y&R, Days (tho they were able to re shoot it so she never aired), and GH have all had temp recasts in the past year now. I think we will be seeing it more and more.

That's probably true although most of the soaps won't be on for another year or two anyway, perhaps three. Still, it's a way to break up some of the tedium. And if Steve Burton had to take time off, we'd probably have Guza himself play Jason. You know he'd want to.

GENERAL HOSPITAL star Rebecca Herbst (Elizabeth) is recovering from viral meningitis, but she got in touch with Soaps In Depth over the weekend with a special message for her fans!

"Thank you so much for all of the well wishes and prayers," says the actress. "The last week or so has been an eye-opening experience, to say the least. I am so grateful for my overall good health. My heart goes out to those living with chronic pain. I do, however, have to admit being disappointed with my alter ego's failure to correctly diagnose my illness... back to nursing school for Nurse Webber!"

    • I don’t recall MSW having a toy line in the late 80’s or early 90’s like all those Saturday morning cartoons did LOL but thought this was cute when I saw it in a vintage toy store yesterday:

    • Copying and pasting pasting this here as to not to derail the KL thread lol Wow I forgot CBS actually did try multiple attempts to come up with a soapy replacement for Knots on Thursday nights in the 10/9 slots for the 93-94 season.   Angel Falls had promise but CBS didn’t give it a fair chance. Latham’s Second Chances got even worse ratings than Angel Falls and wasn’t given a second chance when the Northridge quake destroyed the show’s sets. One West Waikiki looked gorgeous but was a blink you missed it affair. Finally we got Hotel Malibu, a quasi follow-up to Second Chances that stayed as the summer replacement series it was. CBS switched gears and had Chicago Hope air in the slot…against ER. It made the Top 30 but obviously underperformed below expectations. CBS gave up, and gave us 48 Hours for years there. It wasn’t until the 2002-03 season when CBS finally produced a Top 20 show for that spot with Without A Trace against an aging ER.
    • Of course I join in on wishing that Peacock & Corday & Sony would all together come to the conclusion that NOW would be a fine time to put some of these gems in the archive on full display!!! But, at the same time I'd like to give kudos to the fact that behind the scenes they've been doing the great work of preservation by taking tapes, etc. & converting them to modern digital formats. Besides the important fact of preserving them it means they are ready to go!

    • Bill and Hayley’s living room set should be redressed as their bedroom. We’ve not seen their gorgeous circular entry way set since the first week? Why not utilise that more and build them a living room off those double doors? The hotel room also doesn’t have a bed? Does only Dani have a bedroom?
    • as posted upthread, this interview was on that channel's youtube   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLraEMlqtTw
