I think a lot of us still agree with that. I do hope that the resurgence in the soap world with Beyond the Gates will push ABC to either bring back these shows or produce a newer one.

I don't think we've seen the last of Erica Kane. That's something I will continue believing in.

But people were hating so bad on amc and the final year and the ratings sucked. Business wise they made the right call.

Oltl who even gained some ratings back and weren’t they higher as GH at one point is a decision and never understood.

The AMC hate came from Jamey Giddens/DC and their industry friends, IMO. For whatever reason I always felt they targeted the show, and it was wrong. AMC ratings were decent and even went up under Pratt (Yet, he was fired). The ratings were also good under Broderick and lowered out after her interim.

There was no reason to be upset with the show other than it being slow.

They literally played it safe and did the best they could in 2010 and 2011.

Setting aside a general distaste for the story -- I was sitting here wondering how long Erica's doppelgänger Jane story lasted?

Also, how did it begin?  What was the setup for Erica to have a double?

I think it was largely done because they championed OLTL (even when it didn't deserve it) and saw the shows as up against each other in terms of which would be cancelled, so seemed to think any success AMC had would put OLTL in danger.
