Maurice was sexy in the '90s. It takes nothing away from criticism of Sonny since to note that.

I agree but something happened along the way.

Megan is more like JER to Days when it comes to AMC. He too had some good stuff (probably with the help of other writers as well), but there was a bunch of bad too. He had quite the persona too.

@MaximI've enjoyed your 1988 and 1989 write-ups since I like to see what a newbie thinks of past episodes of a show.  Especially during this period where you had Broderick as headwriter, Depriest as headwriter, and then the strike episodes.  Agnes takes back over as head-writer by the Christmas 1989 episodes I believe so I'll look forward to reading what your thoughts on the back-half of the Depriests brief stint.

This is very encouraging and positive to read. ☺️Thank you. And I also... can't wait to reach Agnes episodes. I have never watched an entire Agnes episode in my life. Only short clips.

@Maxim Thanks. Robin Christopher reminding us of the struggles in playing drunk. I did laugh at the way she said "Cooneys" and "I HATE THAT BABY!" I also marvel at how good the set design and atmosphere still was at this time. It feels so claustrophobic, like you are losing air the longer you watch.

I wonder if that priest was meant to have more story at the time.

You're welcome! I adore Robin. Skye was one of the first characters that got me interested in the show. It was a bit odd and eccentric to see her obsess over her uncle's engagement and her dislike of Cindy... but I love pathological characters like this. Sometimes a girl doesn't need that much motivation to be wretched. I also liked the extremes she went to... in order to stop Cindy and Stuart's marriage. It felt like spiraling into the dark side. She connected herself with dangerous people and groups... bigots, haters... And she paid the price for it.

They were normalizing her for a while now. For nearly half a year, she's been nothing more than a boring background player. Filler material. Especially since they re-wrote her and Travis's emerging romance into... nothingness (Thank God). But now... for the past 2-3 weeks I feel the reckless Skye of 1988 is awoken again. I would not be surprised if they deliberately made it seem that it's TOO OBVIOUS for her to be the kidnapper... and in the end... the most obvious answer ends up the right one.

We'll find out very soon, I hope. With the pace this show goes with... I'm sure we'll know pretty soon. 💗

And let me do what I promised... and comment on the Trevor/Marissa fiasco that is happening right now.

Just as she (Marissa) was about to achieve her goal in destroying Natalie and Jeremy's marriage... her accomplice Trevor... messed it all up. And he basically sexually assaulted her - extorted her into sleeping with him. No woman, even as wicked as Marissa is... deserves this, btw. She did not want to sleep with him, tried to escape this so many ways, but he managed to force her into it. In the end her even video-taped all of it... so he can continue to extort her.

I'm starting to think that Marissa has no option left... other than to... kill Trevor off. We'll see. One thing I can give the show is that this storyline started incredibly messy, absurd and boring... but somehow they cleaned it up, made it edible and more realistic and thanks to the amazing... STUNNING actress that plays Marissa - Nancy Addison... the storyline works.

Wow. I never knew this side of "Unca Porkchop", wearer of interesting neckwear, Timmy's dad, Haley's uncle, Janet's something I think.

I always liked Gloria and I was so annoyed when the character was allowed to just fade away.

Maurice Benard was extremely sexy at some points. I think the fact that Sonny has been shoved down viewers' throats for decades has removed all of that.

Thanks again @Maxim . I knew of Trevor starting out bad but didn't know about the coercion with Marissa (although I imagine many would have said it was no big deal...). He looks so grimy there - Kiberd does play up all the slime. I wonder who saw in him the chance of playing a more heroic version of the character.

He was on AW playing a psycho (a more cleaned up version) not long before this.

Making my way through the McTavish book and curious... was this ever published?  I know it's a draft and you can see her notes on certain pages, but did this ever get finalized and published?  Apologies if I missed the backstory on this one, but I'm really intrigued now by it.  I'm also curious if any of these folks commented on it publicly, as she basically says F it to her career by throwing all these daytime execs, writers and actors under the bus.

Never published.

In that document, McTavish says she signed her final contract with AMC knowing she would retire afterward.  As usual, though, I'm not sure whether I believe her.

IMO, I think she wrote what she wrote, largely because she knew her reputation was toast and that no show - and certainly, no ABC show - was ever going to hire her again.  Having nothing to lose always empowers you...even if very few care what you have to say or believe you.

When was this written??

I'd say just before her new meds started to kick in.

LOL! I mean her comments about JFP kind of follow JFP’s track record and I can see her having beef with FMB and JHC. But the way she skewered poor Michael Comforti was downy petty and pitiful LOL.

Was a bit disappointed she just barely mentioned her horrendous tenure at GL aside from briefly referring to Brent/Marian as well as actor Frank Beaty.

I was able to do a quick speed read earlier but what a total mess. I’m going to go back and read deeper. When was this written??

She speaks of AMC being canceled. I'd guess it was written between that time and Agnes Nixon passing away.

For her to talk candidly about her time at GL would be admitting that she had no real objective in joining other than to give everyone at AMC and ABCD the finger.

And you are right about how she dragged Michael Conforti.  Save that [!@#$%^&*] for the message boards, lol!
