Paul scared me at the end with his

”AAAAAANNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Btw, it was interesting how the little girl identified herself as “Elizabeth” (the same name as Anne and Paul’s dead baby), and the commercial that immediately followed was, “Hey, LIZ!!”

Wasn’t Anne married to a Duke or something (from a small European country) as her last husband??

I believe she died via a car bomb??

I can’t recall the details.

@DemetriKaneThat's a wonderful discovery. To think it was on there for two years without anyone even noticing! I am thrilled to get to see any glimpse of that period, or of the Anne and Paul story. I wish we could see more of Anne - Judith Barcroft was such a luminous actress, as shown here, and I would love to see her interact with Peter White, Ruth Warrick, etc. It's a shame that her main surviving soap work is her poor role on Ryan's Hope.

Right!!

It would’ve been easier to find if she had put “All My Children” in the title (as opposed to “AMC”).

I periodically search YouTube for “All My Children, followed by various years in the ‘70s, to see if anything like this clip pops up.

I’m sad to hear that.

@Pine Charles Ha! He seems to be a good actor, i would have loved for his character to have stuck around longer.

I chuckled when that commercial for that said reason.

Oh, i never heard of Duke.  I could be wrong though, i don't know much about 70s amc. She did die in the car bomb though. It was meant for Paul!

@Jonathan Yes, me too! I like his presence; the martins needed him. Looks like they gave all the martin wives parts of Anne storylines. I don't think it was wise for them to kill off Anne either, she was a very interesting character and had more storyline potential marrying Palmer and Adam.

@robbwolff Maeve looks incredible in that commercial.

@DRW50 Someone has those late 70s episodes hidden away somewhere. Im very intrigued but this era and a lot of characters like Anne and Eddie Dorrance.

I think Judith Bancroft also was on the Edge of Night in the last weeks of the show as a doctor...but I agree I'd love to see more of her work as Anne.  I think the episodes started being saved in 1976 so we would be able to see the Beth story in full.

She had expressive eyes.

And I wonder if Anne was killed off because the replacement actress wasn't popular.  I do agree if Anne had stayed on...Phoebe would have gotten even more to do in the 80s.  I often think Brooke filled the void with Phoebe in some respects.

You can generally tell from archival stuff when a recast doesn't go over because after a few lamentable years they're offed or sent out of town. I assume that was the case here too. I'd never heard of Brooke being a replacement for Anne but I suppose it makes sense.

Judith Barcroft had a long run at a couple shows, though at AW she was replaced by the legendary Susan Sullivan pretty handily. I've always wondered about Barcroft, one of those bygone soap stars who faded away from the scene in the 80s. Millette Alexander did the same.

    • I think Ms. Rowell should be one of Anita's former bandmates... maybe the one that still harbors resentment over being abandoned. I think the Articulettes probably started out more like The Supremes.. and probably when the other bandmates wanted to go in a more funk/synth pop direction (as what happened to groups in the late 70s/early 80s)... I could have seen Anita bail and forge a solo career since perhaps that genre was not to her liking... and the group disbanded. Wasn't Ms. Morgan also doing another project when the show was casting?  Maybe one day she'll join the show when a role opens up and her schedule is open.     I don't mind the set, but is it a hip place.. or a more upscale after work/weekend night spot.   I'm not sure what vibe it's trying to go for. Orphey Jean's is my favorite... it's a great gathering/neutral meeting place where people of high incomes, middle incomes, and working class can all gather and hang out.
    • Oh, see, I love it; it feels very east coast, and I've been in places like it before. It's unique. And ugh, anyone but Victoria Rowell. Please, anyone but her.
    • It's not going to change, as said plenty of times.

Without a proper person to come in and not be afraid of pissing audiences off, it isn't going to happen. Okay, no, per Zach Tinker there seems to be no investment, not needed, and HELL NO!
    • God forbid someone is upset with their spouse for not being honest with them.   I swear... Misandry is so rampant nowadays.

    • Kate Mansi on Kristina going too far No spoilers - but only if you've watched through May 14. If you want to be unspoiled, wait until after you've watched May 14. https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/ghs-kate-mansi-says-kristina-knows-that-shes-gone-too-far-exclusive/
    • Well, Mo should have tried harder lol GH has had the narrative for years that Sonny is "good" mob and everyone else is "bad" mob.  It's never made any sense no matter how many characters tell us that.  How about no mob?  That's the best kind of mob
    • She absolutely needs to be on this show.
    • they need to bring her back for a role! I say expand Bill's family and have her play his meddling aunt that moves into his house with he and Hayley and goes head to head with Anita
    • I'll be brief with this response because it is veering into Classic thread territory, but I agree about the Taggert writing especially when the show revealed he worked with/was mentored by Deke and knew Sonny killed him.  It gave Taggert a bias that was unnecessary and made it seem like he was a poor judge of character, so the audience was already primed to dislike him even if Taggert was right. Plus, Garcia and Taggert were pretty obnoxious, especially early on lol.
