I agree with his view--to a large extent too, although I think part of the trap he did fall into, was the typical soap "supercouple" problem. And wow--I knew he had a rep at the time for having an ego--and I'm sure some of it was just his age but some of that interview made me just laugh, even if many actors prob feel the same about their talents. I do kinda enjoy how he sorta slams the show saying his role would never change--and at the same time keeps saying that he hopes they're open to him returning. Is he still acting? His official webpage is almost all links to self published sci fi he's written (!) that I think is based on his Andromeda character...

Thanks for the link--I totally see what you mean Carl about Trevor and Michael I always wanted to see more of Brad--though the actor was straight and married, and Michael's was straight I think, Brad seemed more comfortable playing gay, and I remember people at the time saying that (as they manly patted each other on the back and gave each other bear hugs). RIP Daniel McDonals who played Brad and had some Broadway leads, who died suddenly at 47 of a brain aneurysm (I think.)

Didn't she run into Donald Trump or someone at Nexxus? (or was thatg this episode lol)

The only good thing about that story was Kelly Ripa's performance in the wedding episode you see in that promo. I don't know if it was down to pregnancy hormones, or some other factor (she was an OK actress but rarely a good one), but she was wonderful, especially her scenes with Adam. I try, and fail, to block out the rest.

Sorry guys, when looking for Heartbreak High videos for the Loving/City thread, I stumbled across that (Vince P was a star from HH just like Corey Paige who was hired around the same time for The City.) While Broderick's era in the 90s was a mixed bag (although personally it's nonetheless one of my fave eras,) this story really was IMHO the nadir. Funny, it largely feels like something that would have fit McTavish's sensationalistic late 90s run--it has so many of the Hallmarks... Like bringing on a new character who is instantly disliked and who is written into such a plot driven hole that they have no way to return (to be fair, I guess Tanner perhaps was brought on with a short term goal and they never hoped to redeem him, but...), a he said/she said rape scenario which doesn't even have any intrigue because we know already who's in the wrong, etc.

Ripa did have moments where she really raised to the challenge. Yeah they were few (especially in her last few years,) but...

Yeah that was a bad spring for AMC relatively speaking--at least soon the Kevin story sparked back up. I remember at the time, just as The City was starting to be very good (or at the least very solid) it was depressing because AMC was in a bit of a rut, and OLTL--I believe just before the Labines came on-- was an utter mess (I wasn't watching GH at the time at all...) So I was actually enjoying The City the best but its cancelation was already announced. (I also remember that all ABC's ratings were slipping *except* The City which was actually, for once, having admittedly tiny climbs each week.)

    • I'm curious the motivation for keeping Bela on beyond the circus story arc.  Did he play a character like his character on EON, or was he more of a good guy? I know he ended up with Sunny at the end of the series, but I always thought that Sunny/Hogan could have been revived once the lack of chemistry between him and the NuLiza became apparent.   Actually... the NuLiza (Louan Gideon) reminded me more of Sunny than she did Liza as played by Sherry... and she just threw off the whole vibe of the show. I see Estelle has just arrived in the late October 1985 episodes, which only means that Wendy and Stephanie are soon on their way out.   It also appears that the Sarah/Quinn/Wendy triangle was set up by Mayer.. and it looks as though Tomlin is going to deactivate it by the introduction of Colleen Dion's character.   I don't understand why no one on the show thought to look at Quinn and realize that he was the problem and write him out.

    • I kind of assume they're toning down Rachel's bad seed tendencies a bit to make it less obvious if they're going for her as the shooter. At least that's what I hope they're doing - I've really enjoyed Rachel being a bratty evil DiMera princess and Marlena finally getting a grandchild she deserves.

. This show is so stupid. Sonny killed an FBI agent less than a year ago by shooting him at point blank range. But the new short bald man is much much worse cause he was a bad guy in some part of Africa and managed to not kill Lucky, Isaiah, Jason, or Anna. This show is crippled by the mob all these years after Guza has been long gone.    Laura is literally saying oooo but Sonny is a good mobster for Port Charles. Give me a [!@#$%^&*].ing break. Sometimes I don’t know why I watch this joke of a show.
    • With all the changes Sunny was one of the longest running characters by that time.  She had never been married and had heaps of story potential. I can see America getting with SFT -you know 'the circus soap'. Smart move because circuses were all the rage with the kids in the 80's. Maybe Stu and Jo could have bought the circus.
    • It is actually pathetic, that Victor’s 50 year old children are still written as scared of this man that has to sit in every scene. I get it, EB has been on the show for almost 50 years, but I don’t care. He’s a man in his 80’s and should not be the damn lead and driving force because you don’t want to upset Eric Braeden ‘s fragile ego that only exists because the writers have cowtowed to this man for so long.
    • PREACH Victor being written as he was 20 years ago to support EB's ego or some misguided belief that what worked decades ago is still relevant is destroying the show. Victor comes off as a rambling old fool holding on to vendettas and a desperate need for perceived power. His children still cow-towing to him makes them look equally foolish. If the writing portrayed Victor as  more of an irritant to them then maybe it would work.
    • They desperately need another meeting spot that isn’t Orphy Genes or the Country club. Y&R is awful now but there’s at least GCAC, Crimson Lights, Society, and the Jazz room at GCAC to meet at. 4 places is definitely better than 2 and I can’t imagine these rich folks literally only eat at their damn country club.
    • I support all of this. 80 year old Victor reading lines off the table or teleprompter until it’s time to yell at someone and still being the main man driving story on the show is absolutely ridiculous to me and one of the biggest issues with the show. I respect Braeden for wanting to keep working in his old age is great and all, but WHY IS HE THE LEAD?
