Members Adam
Yeah, I just posted the SOC article from 2008. I googled her. I remember reading that now Sad.
Members AllMyDaysatGH
I watched this just now and thought it was nice! I like how they edited the clips, EXTRA definitely picked the best ones & a lot of effort was put in. I liked the little "Save the Soaps" thing they had going on, but lol @ them clearly making people on the street beg to keep the soaps on the air. None of their statements seemed genuine at all! Members Khan
To think: part of AMC's initial purpose (for the network) was to appeal to younger audiences. And now, it's dying...because it isn't appealing to younger audiences. It's just makes me so [!@#$%^&*] sad to think about all this.
Members LoyaltoAMC
AMC writer Laurie McCarthy. I'm not sure she's still with the show. Here's a clearer pic. Warning: be sure not to eat when viewing. McTavish's [!@#$%^&*]-eating grin is best left for an empty stomach. http://c.photoshelter.com/img-get/I0000aCyyLtfSuRQ/s/750/750/8454-McTavish-Nixon-McCarthy.jpg

Members Khan
To think, too, I actually liked Megan McTavish when she was Lola Fontaine on GUIDING LIGHT. I guess that'll teach my ass to trust a hooker (or someone who plays one on TV).
Members Y&RWorldTurner
You can bet that if Megan was still writing the show, the last episode would probably be a funeral...
Members Khan
...Or yet another inane history rewrite, like Erica suddenly remembering it was Eric, and not Richard Fields, who had raped and impregnated her on her now-12th birthday. Members LoyaltoAMC
I adore Mary Fickett and always hated how she was so underused through the mid-80s through the mid-90s. She suffers from dementia. Very sad. I wonder if she knows of the cancellation or if it would even register with her. maybe it's best she doesn't know. I'd love to see old footage of Mary at the end, but that probably won't happen. For good or for bad, LM has become more identified with the part, having played Ruth on and off for 15 years now. Regarding the Martins in general, I have a strong hunch that if MEK had not become the enormous hit that he did, the Martins would've been written out ages ago. By the time they brought Tad back in 1982, they'd written out all the other Martins.
Members Saving ATWT
I'm starting to think rating can be rigged when a network wants out. It just doesn't seem possible that OLTL only garners 2.5 million viewers out of a nation of 300 million people. Also, no one really talks about the number of online views each soap gets. Scripted TV in general has been in decline for a while now--it costs a lot of money to produce. NBC was trilled to give the 10pm slot to Leno and rely strongly on 'reality' shows all over the schedule. In the case of soaps, they can't even be repeated. Les Mooves is trying to turn CBS into a 'growth' company by producing shows that can be sold later in syndication, on DVD, and internationally. Soaps will never serve this purpose and, therefore, serve little network purpose. I'm shocked GH was on the block. The show will be gone within 1, maybe 2, years depending on the results of Chew and the development of new shows. As for Y&R, who knows? This show has been the exception to the rule in terms of ratings for years and does seem to hold a special charm for viewers. If I were the Bells/Sony, I'd be looking for a cable home before any further rating drops. Sony owns both Days and Y&R so, maybe, a soap block could be developed somewhere. I still think cable would be a great place for soaps because these networks allow for more adult content.

Members quartermainefan
Matt B? I knew him in LA as it happens. This was 88 or so. Then I met him years later again, maybe 2003 perhaps 2004. He really was a good guy.
