I see your point, but at the same time they make serious money. That's something many of them will not be able to do again, so it was probably worth it to make that $200,000+ for a year or two more. These people are actors, they know that nothing is promised beyond the moment. That goes for the crew as well. It's not like these types of jobs are low hanging fruit anymore. I feel really bad that they are out of work, but they must have thought it was worth their time to stick with AMC.

YES! My favorite dramas are on cable (except for The Good Wife, Fringe, and The Chicago Code): Shameless, Justified, Mad Men, The Killing, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, True Blood, Spartacus, The Borgias, Boardwalk Empire, Dexter, hopefully the upcoming Game of Thrones....

Network dramas are so ordinary these days.

I don't, cause there were rumors AMC was being cancelled not long before the move was announced. Something like this doesn't happen overnight, it had to be in the works for awhile. I honestly believe OLTL was always safe cause it didn't move. It had more stability, AMC was unstable before the move and it got worse afterwards

I'm not saying AMC and/or OLTL have any chance at all of continuing, but if this is true and not just more "talk," then whoever will be responsible for selling these shows to another outlet (and by the way, has it not occurred to anyone whether AMC or OLTL could be viable on, say, Lifetime?) will have to rethink how these shows are produced. Because, a straight-up, old-fashioned, five-day-a-week daytime drama ain't gonna appeal to anyone.

    • From the original report, via Variety (December 2020): ❝ The project is currently titled Pine Valley, named after the fictional Philadelphia suburb that served as the setting for All My Children. In the new series, a young journalist with a secret agenda comes to expose the dark and murderous history of a town named Pine Valley only to become entangled in a feud between the Kane and Santos families. ❞
    • Yes; plus, it's supposedly the home of the trauma Alexis experienced when they were in that storyline, etc., a.k.a., another recycled and redressed set. Wouldn't surprise me, especially since Melgar did the "GH Live!" episodes and those weird-ahh outros we got. Although, given that Melgar has been more aligned with the views of ex-Jax, part of me feels like she wouldn't be asked back.  Probably because of Luke, and if Laura accepts Sonny, then the audience automatically will, too. I mean, because she does means you do, right?! Right?!
    • Yes, Portugal qualifying was definitely a shock. I'm not crazy about the Ukrainian entry either, but that was always going to qualify for obvious reasons.  I was a bit surprised that they had the video message from Cèline Dion already in the semifinal. I would have thought they would save that for the final on Saturday.
    • Of course. With my luck Frank would probably bring Lily back from the dead and pay Lilly Melgar to do a cameo with Sonny instead though.

Seriously, I know I am late to the party, but why are Sonny and Laura bff?  They've always been friends or friendly although I never considered them to be super-duper close.  I always thought Laura mostly tolerated him for Luke's sake.  The way the show is pretending they've had this decades long tight knit friendship is just weird and OTT.
    •   It's just so much fun!   She really was what made the show come together. I remember thinking what a mistake it was to write her out temporarily. I wonder how I'll feel during this rewatch, but I'm fairly certain her absence contributed to the show ending after season 5.
    • Thank you @Paul Raven The Kay/Kill stuff sounds like fire.   @soapfan770 I saw someone asking about old episodes you had... in case anyone has old tapes but not a VCR, DM me, I am willing to convert them for free.
    • I think Krista is too hot or her. I think the current actress works bc she comes across so basic. Thats not a dig but she feels very normal and relatable as an average suburban woman. I think if Krista was in the role, Id want more out of her but I dont think Jan is meant for bigger things

    • The sad thing about SC being a great actor is that his character has never worked. Ever. And yes if I don't know what Liam is about and just focus on acting... I can appreciate him. But as soon as I connect him to Liam... I cringe.  Maybe SC should run till he is still young and find himself a role where he can shine.
