All I can think of/hope is that this is why Lorraine agreed to come on--to try to give some dignity to the show's final months. But it really is ridiculously short. (Then again with even more time didn't ATWT kinda mess up their ending too? I'm not a massive fan so can't fairly comment, but I did get the impression many thought they should have been leading somewhere and they didn't really till kinda the last few episodes...)

Maybe havign Agnes still alive is a good thing--she's admitted that she's too old and tired to HW anything anymore, but it'd be nice if AMC (and maybe even OLTL) could end with an episode and in a place that she really was at least ok with. I think I'll die of sadness though if it ends with Agnes herself closing that big book...

Kelly Ripa's comments:

http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/04/14/kelly-ripa-all-my-children-cancellation/

Following ABC’s announcement that the network has decided to cancel two daytime soap operas, All My Children (in September) and One Life to Live (early next year), Kelly Ripa, the Live! with Regis & Kelly host who starred on All My Children from 1990 to 2001, has spoken out about the series’ demise.

Said Ripa in a statement released to EW: “This is like losing a member of your family. All My Children was more than a job — it was my family. It was there that I met my husband; it was there when my first two children were born; it was there where I met many of my life-long friends. It was the greatest training ground ever. I feel heart sick.” While starring as Hayley Vaughan on the series, Ripa began dating now-husband Mark Consuelos, who played Vaughan paramour Mateo Santos Sr.

It will be interesting to see how the Tale of Two Todds plays out on OLTL.

Well, Toups, it looks like Ken Corday will finally start to get his long-coveted emmy nominations. With four shows left they'll probably all get nominated for best show, best writing, best directing, etc.

At this point I feel a fool for having any optimism, yet, I agree with you. With OLTL I'm more worried about FV and RC continuing in the current path of givign DOrian less and less, adding more random shirtless male characters, etc--but I don't see Frons really directly interfering in either show anymore. He seems relieved.

EW article, how they found out

http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/04/14/abc-brian-frons-all-my-children/

Frons told the cast and crew of AMC personally before the announcement went out to the press some 15 minutes later. (The cast and crew of the New York-based OLTL was video linked at the same time). Unlike when CBS announced the demise of Guiding Light and As the World Turns, Frons said it was important to immediately reveal how the soaps will be replaced because “otherwise we will appear like we have no plan. It’s important for our affiliates. If we make the decision to take off two shows we value, then they need to know how we will replace them.”

Brad has gotten years of story (for better or worse) out of the Forresters & Logans.

It's only right he give the Spectra's a chance to be revitalized.

Anything is better than LAD trying to be sexy & Brandon Beemer pretending to be straight.
