I think as long as Todd and his harem are there that is the main priority.

I do wonder if they would bring back Tina (even if she's at B&B ) if not for Frons. I think he is probably not going to let her back.

Other than that I don't know if RC or Valentini care about past faces. They will probably bring back Kevin to whimper for Kelly while she marries Joey or John. And Adrianna will return, to remind us of how great Gigi/Rex are.

Now that you mention it, I can see it now, too. Ronald might have these terribly ambitious (and ambitious terrible) ideas of who to bring back and what should be done with them (let's bring back the dayplayer who shared a cell with a dayplayer in 1991!), with Frank finally having to put his foot down and say "No!"

I just wonder if Valentini has that whole Goutman thing where he is so impressed with his own stories that he resents the past.

JHC probably doesn't care, but would be likely to blow the budget by accidentally paying $3 million to Eileen Brennan to reprise the role of Myrtle Fargate. When someone reminds her Eileen Brennan did not play Myrtle, JHC instead watches a lot of Real McCoys episodes and hires Kathleen Nolan.

"Personally, I think the show should end with Viki’s death since she is the heart and soul of the show; and her one life should poetically end as the show does. It would be reason to bring back past One Life characters; rewind to flashbacks; have Dorian and Viki finally admit their love; force Dorian to step up to the plate and take on Viki’s role; and in the last episode, Viki can be reunited in heaven with all her dead relatives and friends. One Life has always been about the stages of life, and Viki has eluded one key milestone: death."

Now it's fixed.

Am I the only one who isn't thrilled at the prospect of Agnes Nixon "helping out" with the show? I say that because the woman seemed half gone during the 40th Anniversary interviews last year. How much can she really be "helping out?"

Or did I miss out on the round of hallucinogens that has everyone thinking this is 1975?

Well I can only speak for myself and I'm not on any drugs. (Well not any hallucinogens. ;) )

If after various regimes and all these years of mismanagement, I'm happy to know that if AMC has to end it's with the input of its creator. I'm not expecting miracles but IMO, Agnes and LB still belong to that school of writers that learned to tell stories by reading and writing them not by watching them and that is a skill set that is woefully lacking in all of television. Honestly, if her only assistance is to craft the ending for Erica Kane then I consider that a nice bit of justice. I like the idea of her hand helping to close the book. It appeals to the reader in me.

But regardless of the level of her contribution, I thank the gods that S&K aren't writing the end.

I don't think Agnes is as far gone as she seems sometimes. She's always seemed drunk of her ass in interviews and such, so I think her advancing age might make it seem even worse, but as far as knowing what's going on with the show and the characters, I think she's more than competent. I imagine it's Lorraine wrapping up all the current storylines and Agnes coming up with stuff for the the final month or weeks or whatever.

I need to see this character...

I wouldn't believe there's any sort of hand-off moment happening - but more of Broderick with Nixon's influence and input throughout: LB will be constructing the story right up to the end. She's Nixon's protegee, so of course they have very similar, character-driven (and socially relevant) styles. There's no questioning that they work very well together. I suppose one might be able to distinguish Broderick's work as having a contemporary sensibility and that it has been more whimsical (think Palmer's memorial) in its execution. I think those traits served AMC very well, for the most part.

It's good, from both a PR and a creative perspective, that AMC announced that Nixon would be helping bring the show to a close. But I honestly believe Nixon wants it to be LB who head-writes the show at its conclusion - just as she wanted her, and helped facilitate her return to AMC, in late 2009... Beyond having the right vision and respect for character history (and being particularly gifted when it comes to writing for the characters of Pine Valley), she also has the experience / stamina / organization skills to lead as head writer in today's soap environment... and I think it's perfectly okay to acknowledge that Nixon isn't in a position, at this point in her life, to take that on anymore.

If they are being literal about the writers office then it would have to be OLTL which (I think?) still actually has a writers office.

But I think it's AMC and Lorraine vs. Agnes. There's really no place for a split amongst the writers at OLTL: Ron is the boss. But AMC has Broderick and Nixon.

From reading SOD/SOW it seems they are getting their information about what is going on writing-wise at AMC from a couple of unnamed insiders, including "a veteran actor who has been in contact with Agnes". Meanwhile, for OLTL, RC has been fielding all of the magazines' questions. I can't see RC admitting to the magazines "There's major disagreement about whether to bring back lots of vets" (even if it were true) but I can see the anonymous sources at AMC revealing it.

And I feel the same way as R Sinclair: concerned about Agnes' involvement. I really do not like that they are going to write a different ending than they otherwise would have because of Agnes' irrational optimism about the show being picked up elsewhere.

You make a good point re: PR standpoint. Even if her contribution is ultimately minimal, if the ending totally sucks, folks can save their breath with the, "They shoulda let Agnes write it! " stuff.

    • Co Sign!!!!   I have been watching the show regularly over the last few weeks and am pleasantly surprised by how much easier it is to watch each day. This definitely is confirmation for me that Paula and Jeanne wrote the stroke episodes, cause I felt the same way watching those. Could be more exciting for sure, but interactions now make more sense and everything seems to be a bit more character driven which is great. I will add though, there are still about 10 or so characters i'd love to see gone, and hope a few will exit in the future! Otherwise, happy with the changes so far.

    • There is suffering everywhere you look, says mother of emaciated baby girl trapped in Gaza https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/czrv5rl73zdo Quoting excerpts from BBC article: The baby's mother Najwa, 23, is changing Siwar's nappy. She weighs just over 2kg (4lb 6oz). A baby girl of five months should be around or over 6kg. "There was no food when I gave birth to her," says Najwa. "If I wanted to feed myself so I could breastfeed her, I had no nutrients to make my health better... She now only drinks formula milk, and we don't know how we'll be able to provide it for her." Israel has banned international journalists from entering Gaza to report independently. According to Siwar's doctor, Ziad al-Majaida, "Nothing enters through the borders, no milk, food or anything. This leads to big problems here for the kids. This baby needs a specific type of milk. It was available before, but because of the border closure, the stocks have run out for a while now." Since the beginning of the year, according to the UN, about 10,000 cases of acute malnutrition among children have been identified. Food prices have rocketed by as much as 1,400%. Charity kitchens, which have helped hundreds of thousands of Gazans, are shutting as food supplies run out. Twenty-five bakeries supported by the World Food Programme have been forced to close. Israel cut off all humanitarian aid and other supplies from entering Gaza on 2 March, and resumed its military offensive two weeks later The United Nations has said the Israeli blockade constitutes "a cruel collective punishment" on civilians. The UN's humanitarian director, former British diplomat Tom Fletcher, said that international law was unequivocal. "As the occupying power, Israel must allow humanitarian support in... Aid, and the civilian lives it saves, should never be a bargaining chip," he warned. From the BBC reporter: I put this point to Boaz Bismuth, a leading member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party. He (Bismuth) denies there is an aid crisis caused by the blockade. "There is food in Gaza... Israel wouldn't do such a restriction if the population didn't have food. I mean, I know my country perfectly well," he (Bismuth) said. BBC reporter: I put it to Bismuth that he was denying the evidence of people's eyes, that children were starving. "There are not starving children. I repeat again." He (Bismuth) said that there had been allegations months ago of famine, ethnic cleansing and genocide in Gaza "which was crap". ----  ----  ---- A UK-based advocacy group for Israel has the nerve to claim war may reduce obesity in Gaza https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/may/10/uk-lawyers-for-israel-condemned-over-claim-war-may-reduce-obesity-in-gaza
    • Joel Crothers would have been perfect as Owen (maybe because Margo wasn't too far off Denise). A shame he couldn't have played a dual role. Eliot did have more room to grow. I wonder if whatever allegedly happened with Denny Albee played a part in both their exits.

    • I remember Evie's last scene and it was in Justin Marler's house and she is telling them that Ben is asking for a reconciliation and she is going to join him. I always have wondered what Janet Grey did after leaving Guiding Light (I know from the interview with Kathleen Cullen that she did have a baby and they stayed in touch for awhile).
    • https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/may/11/trump-accept-luxury-plane-gift-qatar Donald Trump is reportedly ready to accept a luxury plane described to be a “palace in the sky” being offered to the US president as a gift from Qatar’s royal family, almost immediately igniting accusations of bribery and corruption as well as commensurate criticism. citing multiple sources familiar with the matter, ABC reported (link) that the Trump administration was preparing to accept a luxury Boeing 747-8, a jumbo jet from the Qatari royals that was estimated to be about $400m. Trump would then use the 13-year-old plane as the new Air Force One until shortly before the conclusion of his second Oval Office stint, at which point it would be transferred to his presidential library foundation no later than 1 January 2029. The luxury gift from Qatar is expected to be announced next week during Trump’s three-day tour of the Middle East that includes Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, ABC reported. Trump toured the opulent plane in February while it was parked at the West Palm Beach international airport, ABC added. According to ABC’s sources, Trump’s attorney general Pam Bondi and his top White House lawyer David Warrington have pre-emptively concluded that it is “legally permissible” for Trump to accept the luxury gift and then transfer it over to his presidential library.
    • Yeah I’m confused how wearing baggier clothing wouldn’t just make him even smaller. I have no problem with his fashion at all. He’s a well put together man.
