It can... I was only making the point that Angie, though she may be loved by a good number of viewers, could be unrootable in this instance and the mother rootable over a beloved, long stadning, established Angie.

And also getting mad because she found that hooker in her daughter's bed. I'm glad that Angie had a realistic reaction to Randi being a prostitute, even though she ended up coming around to Randi.

I wish that Pratt would have expanded more on what caused Frankie to go and live in the woods. I know he had issues due to Iraq, but I think that the writers (during this particular time Pratt) should have expanded more on that, and wrote more about what caused him to do that and go by "Quentin" for a while. Pratt wrote about Frankie's issues somewhat, but I think he could have done a better job than he did.

DeeeDee you rock

They don't need this kind of drama, I have a feeling this is going to drive even more people away

Super Couples need angst that isn't damaging

Worthy of their Super Couple status? Now that is just scary that this is considered worthy of that

Zendall had angst piled on top of angst, and it damaged them ALOT

I don't doubt that we will get good acting out of this storyline especially DM. But I don't think it's going to be a good storyline because K&S aren't good writers. I think that they are pretty bad writers. IMO, they jacked up Kendall's storyline dealing with Zach's death. It started out okay, but I think they ended up really messing it up. I don't think that the acting will be able to save this upcoming Angie/Jesse storyline, I think it will just be the only good thing about it.

DeeeDee, All I am going to say to you is that your opinion about this story is yours and I have my own. However, I don't know how you can generalize about how the audience feels about any character. There are tons of different people watching and they have different feelings about different characters. On every soap board, there are fans who love David and others who hate David. For every fan that criticizes and dislikes Angie and Jesse, I see tons who love and support them. Also, fans on soap boards are a tiny percentage of the whole audience. In any case, soap characters don't have to be loved by everyone to be entertaining. End of.

Me too...

Even though I care nothing about Randi (because of DV's acting), I didn't have a problem with Angie coming around because she should have if the girl got her behind off the streets... but I did find it ridiculous that Angie was bashed for not being happy with Frankie's choices and telling him so...

This is what I was concerned about... its bad enough that they will lose their baby... and if the story is poorly written, that makes it all the worst...

Fair enough.

But weren't you also excited about having Maura on Y&R?

How's that working out for you?

That's not generalizing.

Visit ANY AMC board & their reaction to & about Jesse has been the same (not good in the least) since he returned.

So NOW the excuse is different feelings about different characters?

The justifications will never end.

For every ONE viewer on any AMC board who dislikes David there are 40 ready to burn Pine Valley down because the rest of the characters don't bow down & kiss his feet.

David can do NO wrong EVER & when he DOES it's completely excusable like drugging Bianca by the show & the fans.

Those "tons of fans" occasionally like the actors (mainly Debbi) & who the characters (A/J) WERE.

Not who the current writers are making them out to be.

That doesn't make the story any less offensive or cliche.

Keep justifying.

There are 6 soaps left & when they're gone?

There will be no justifications left.

One of the things that initially excited me about Pratt was the fact that he took on the war in Iraq and its effect. The Frankie/Taylor/Brot relationships had a lot of potential. I know a lot of people hated Taylor with good reason but loved how Taylor was all gung ho for the Army and wanted Frankie to go back while Angie was willing to do anything to keep her son safe. (I still remember when she suggested that Frankie tell the Army he was gay. I LOVED that!) And whatever else he did wrong, I'm grateful to Pratt for bringing us Brot who is also going to get some screen time out of this story.

I'm really intrigued to see how Brot and Frankie fit into this story. I'd love it if this causes friction between them. Throw (a recast) Randi and Natalia in the mix and it could be fantastic drama.

Tad/Dixie - had to deal with the whole Kate/Kathy thing which I consider to be very similar. Dixie gave her daughter away and Tad tortured and murdered a man to get her back. Bad writing? Yes. But Tad is still going strong and people are still demanding the return of Dixie.

Erica/Jackson - Erica is never going to have any more kids. But she recently threw the fact that Jack testified against her in Bianca's custody hearing in his face. That was decades ago.

Zendall - isn't a supercouple.

Really?

When was Dixie ever written as a bad person for giving away Kathy or when has Tad been redeemed over Madden In A Box?

And Tad "going strong" amounts to people currently liking the character cause MEK has chemistry with LK.

Prior to that it was constant Madden In A Box issues from fans any time Tad did or said anything.

They sure got super couple airtime & OBSTACLES.

    • This makes me think of that famous quote from COOL HAND LUKE,  "What we've got here is failure to communicate." I did not bring up "apparently" to try to get across either truth or validity, but doubt. If I had been sure, I would have said something entirely different. But, I'm not trying to argue, I hear you & I will comply. Besides that, I will endeavor to word things differently. I am never against trying to improve.
    • That’s been my main issue with his response. It didn’t feel that earned by what came before. Definitely needed to see more of the Richardsons as a full family unit prior to all of this.
    • Bingo! I thought the exact same thing. Martin's anger feels so out of place, because we've hardly seen him interact with his parents. Vernon and him have more of a father/son relationship and we've seen their dynamic more fully play out. While obviously Ted and Marton are father and son, it felt a bit empty because we haven't really seen them bond or truly connect in any scenes.
    • Leslie inferred over 20 years ago, so Eva and Kat are over 20 at least
    • As it happens, 40 years ago this week, ABC and CBS revealed their 1985-86 fall schedules. NBC revealed theirs the week before. ABC's would end up changing. The original plan for Tuesdays was to have Diff'rent Strokes lead the night, with He's the Mayor at 8:30, followed by Who's the Boss at 9, Growing Pains at 9:30, and Moonlighting at 10. There was some surprise over MacGruder & Loud not getting renewed, but it was considered part of Aaron Spelling's declining influence at the network. Yes, Dynasty was still a hit (for a while longer), but Aaron's shows steadily took up less and less of the schedule. Fall 1984: Seven hours, five of which were new programming (Dynasty, Hotel, Glitter, Matt Houston, T.J. Hooker, The Love Boat, Finder of Lost Loves; MacGruder & Loud aired at midseason, by which time Glitter was gone.). Fall 1985: Five hours, two of which were new programming (Dynasty, Hotel, The Colbys, Hollywood Beat, The Love Boat). Fall 1986: Three-and-a-half hours, a half-hour of which was new programming (Dynasty, Hotel, The Colbys, Life With Lucy). Fall 1987: Two hours, none of which was new programming (Dynasty and Hotel; HeartBeat premiered at midseason). Fall-winter 1988: Two hours, none of which was new programming (Dynasty and HeartBeat). This led to Variety's infamous shady headline in spring 1989: "Aaron's Dynasty Over"
    • I hope for a multi-year renewal, too! This is the only show I've been excited to see the next episode in forever. Considering their demos are quite decent. the initial episodes showed there is still an interest in daytime, and it has helped to boost the rest of the soap line up at times, it should be around for a while.

    • I agree.  How many times did we have to watch Bobby vs. J.R., or Blake vs. Alexis, knowing that nothing would change at the end, and that everything would go back to status quo, so that they could fight the same, exhausting battles all over again?  If nothing else, I give FC and KL credit for trying to keep things fresh, even if I think FC, in particular, went too far in the other direction and became unrecognizable even to the most diehard fans. Exactly.  Plus, because viewers were so burned out by the kind of serialized storytelling that was beginning to affect even half-hour comedies, I think MSW represented a nice change of pace.  You didn't have to watch every week, or watch from the beginning of each season, to know what was going on with Miss Fletcher.  Instead, you could watch a complete story in one episode, de-stress from whatever had happened in your own life last week, gear yourself up for the week ahead, and be okay. If you notice, though, there were differences between those two shows and what Aaron Spelling had produced in the past.  For one thing, there was a greater emphasis on youth; and while characters on 90210 and MP certainly had more disposable incomes than the average viewer, their wealth wasn't as opulent as what we'd seen on DYNASTY or on "Hart to Hart."  Even the battles among Alison, Amanda, Billy and others at that advertising agency weren't as histrionic as those between Denver Carrington and ColbyCo.
    • I saw a conversation yesterday with Liam with the 7 dwarves hat and Steffy -  I know she did not say re: Hope and Liam said - well look at Finn and you forgave him right?      I know I did not hear Steffy say “well but you can’t compare that to…”  For *uck sake someone call the bitch out!?     You’re right, we shouldn’t compare your forgiveness for the dude with devil spawn seed whose daughter locked you in a cage along with crazy stepmom/mom/Grandmother who has also SHOT YOU BOTH - and multiple murder attempts but you have to exist with them / Hope’s part in a takeover which you know was FAR LESS THAN CARTER BECAUSE HOPE IS NOT AN ATTORNEY…. Goodness no, no the same thing at alllllllll.   When they do Steffy’s absence at least let it be because they all find out what a manipulative ho she is in her own right.
