Soap Opera Feuds

During Corinne Jacker's stint as headwriter of AW (with Rauch as EP) black characters-Quinn,Bob,Henrietta etc were given major stories.

While I think that's a good thing, and I don't consider Rauch racist either, it seemed a lot of soaps starting adding black characters around this time, so I think they may have been keeping up with the other soaps. As for Ellen and Lillian being fired, it was a time in which Rauch was dismantling the show's history. He also had characters in Bobby Blue and Lisa Baron, I have always assumed they didn't last because Blair Underwood left and by the time that was, less soaps had diversity, though the entire ABC line-up did with One Life the exception.

Not to mention his last few months of OLTL (not that I'm TOO interested in watching the rap storyline because...well nbe.jpg ).

Although Troy Nichols and Sheila Price were introduced the year before he left.

And the Broudreaux (sp?) family was introduced to GL shortly before he left, too.

Funny how this always happens right before he leaves a show, like some mea culpa.

The Boudreauxs had nothing to do from the start, aside from Mel.

I don't know if Rauch is racist or not, but I am assuming that he had to free up some production money and he chose the people who could easily be written out of the story. Sometimes the salary of a seasoned vet can equal 3 or 4 new characters, new sets and wardrobe or maybe he had to cut the budget by X number of dollars.

If you have no power than Rauch would be likely to run you over - and probably, just for the fun of it! Not a nice man.

I guess he did introduce the Santos family early in his run on GL, but the mob aspect probably led people to deem them as being stereotypical.

Amazon is showing Victoria Rowell has a new novel being released in March: http://www.amazon.com/The-Young-Ruthless-Back-Bubbles/dp/1451643837/ref=tmm_pap_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1342153013&sr=1-1

As there's no summary of the book on the Amazon page yet, I'm not sure if "The Young and the Ruthless:Back in the Bubbles" is a sequel to "Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva".

I wonder how Melissa Reeves Chick-Fil-A tweet will affect the work environment at Days? Given that many gay folk work there.

I'm curious if there were any feuds on the set of the old soap "Dark Shadows"? As much as a cult show as it was, I've never heard any stories of behind-the-scenes friction.

I'm not sure but I feel like most of their issues were in their personal lives. Alexandra Isles for example.

HIGHLY Rumored On OLTL That Farah Fath Grew Jealous Of The Kish (Fish & Kyle Story) because it became a fan fave while her story with Stacy was not. Even though it got more airtime.

So when The Kish story was cut, story has it that Farah went to Nelson Branco and told him Kish was cut cause Brett & Scott were hard to work with, showing up drunk.

Now Nelson who works at TV Guide Canada ran the story without checking the other side. Since than many OLTLers Have Come Out and said Thats not true

What a bitch

Did Erika Slezak get into any feuds with anyone?

Even the beloved Jacquie Courtney, whom ABC had bent over backwards to get at a high salary in 1975, got unceremoniously dumped, without even a "goodbye" scene for her character, when Rauch was being hired to take over the show. And when he did become producer, Rauch hacked away at half the cast, black and white. He dismantled and crippled the show in many ways.

Not quite true. Courtney left OLTL in the summer of 1983 and she did in fact have a "final scene". Viki even threw her a farewell party at Llanfair. I have the tapes.

Rauch did not arrive at OLTL until the summer of 1984. He had nothing to do with Courtney's departure from OLTL.

I always wondered where the rumors came from that Alexa Havins and Jacob Young didn't get along.

Victoria Rowell's new novel "The Young and the Ruthless: Back in the Bubbles" is a sequel to "Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva". The summary is on the Amazon page. I for one can't wait to read it, as I thought "Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva" was really good.
