GH: Actress Taken Off Contract

Sonya Eddy, who plays nurse Epiphany Johnson on GH, has been taken off contract with the soap.

She confirmed it via her official Facebook Page:

So, the question has been asked. Here's the answer.... It is true, I have been taken off contract at GH. And so it goes....

This really is a shame. I know a lot of you hate her, but Sonya Eddy IS a gifted actress. They never played up on her strengths though. They used her as a "Stereotypical" black woman, instead of giving her real material. It was very evident, especially during the heart attack storyline, that she IS a good actress. Such a shame.

I really did. There was something about the actress that was very 'positive vibe emitting', to put it that way. I'll miss her.

I agree. And I thought she generally worked well with everyone.

We shall see if she still remains on the show, or if she gets the 'recurring means once a year' treatment others have gotten recently.

Good riddans. She was a waste of money anyway. I dont see why she needed to be on contract. This is a role that works recurring

For what they did with the character, I agree. But, they really could/should have done a LOT more with the character than they did, which is why I assumed they put her on contract.

Now that she's off, there are NO black actors on contract.

If this were two months ago, I would assume that maybe Annie Ilonzeh (Maya) would be put on contract. But since she has this new pilot, I have to wonder if now this Shawn person will get one.

Don't they always have at least one black person on contract?

Great. Now she can appear in Popeye's Chicken Commercials and invite all of us to taste "mah Looziana Battered Catfish."

And let's face it: she's not the only one who's gonna be take off contract. Expect to hear more of these announcements in the coming weeks.

Jason Cook, we talkin to YOU!

How the hell is that dude still on contract? He's had jack squat to do since he's came on...he's pretty much window dressing.

Sri Rao used Epiphany properly on Night Shift II, but Guza wrote her as the horrible Mamie stereotype. However, I'm sorry that Sonya Eddy lost that income.

I'm convinced that Frons has kept Jason Cook on contract to keep him away from Days, but I can't him avoiding this upcoming purge.

It's funny how some are mourning her loss when she was the one who replaced the truly loved Bobbie Spencer. Wasn't Bobbie the

Nursing Manager at GH and then they fired JZ and put SE on contract. Likely cheaper.

I dont see her as any loss. Nothing against the actress but really so what. Of course I didnt think getting rid of BH at this point

was any kind of loss to the show either.

I cant imagine SE was really making much. She had to have low mins so how this makes a dent in GH's restructing who knows
