OLTL: Discussion for the week of February 14

The crux of the Todd/Tea relationship was that Todd was a monster and Tea, by being with him and fighting tooth and nail against anyone who looked at him the wrong way, was a martyr of the ages. Without that it is a very pointless relationship, played with an actor who barely managed to make eye contact with his bride and told the wedding guests about how she was mostly good for sex.

This is something I completely agree with you on. I can't wrap my head around rabid TSJ fans. Say what you will about RH, but he was Todd. I still don't know who TSJ is playing and I'm hoping that will be fixed soon.

Joey is so stupid he makes me stupid for watching this show.

And thank the soap gods for small mercies even though Easton's wife beater still wasn't enough to hide his raging gut.

LMAO, y'all are too much.

I had to laugh at how Easton was laid on his stomach in the opening scenes. Morning after scenes never look like that. I wish they would stop trying to portray him as the ultimate catch.

That is NOT a raging gut. That's a pooch. That's nothing that few crunches and laying off the salt can't remedy. You wanna see raging guts, take a visit to Pine Valley! They have guts left and right. Some raging, others just passively laying there like a contented kitty cat.

I don't get Todd and Tea, not this incarnation. I got them way back in like 2002 (or whenever it was they were on the island), I don't get them now. Todd acts like he's the same age as Dani & Starr most of the time.

You mean back when Téa was competing with a live crab (that he talked to) for his affections.

That's when you "got" them, huh? Hmmm. Okay.

LOL Nora at, "If you need the definition of rape, you should look up The People v. Manning, 1993." That was awesome.

As I recall, that was another case Nora lost. Seems like she loses a whole hell of a lot more than she wins. Maybe she should take up knitting.

More replies than I thought, and too many to quote, so big thanks to Cheap, SFK, Carl and Couch Tomato for your views.

I can't believe (well, I can) that they've basically crapped all over their good work with Viki's DID in favour of this Jess mess. That's actually quite sad.

My opinion of Tess has now changed, and I can see how pointless she actually is this time round. I did think that it should've always been Jessica dealing with this stuff as herself, but now that I know her history and Viki's history, I can see even more why this is so important. So, if I've got this right, Tess' role should really be dealing with the stuff that Jess apparently couldn't handle, but Tess seems to have zero interest in any of that - in fact, she doesn't seem to have a motive at all. From what I understand, last time (or whenever) Tess got revenge on Natalie, but this time she doesn't care about Natalie or anything really, and is just moving things along for Jess - see, I'm coming full circle with you guys.

Also, I think Couch Tomato said that it was impossible for Jessica to have suffered all that, b/c viewers saw her being raised by Clint & Viki, so how did they get around that? Or was that one of those times when they retconed some history and told viewers to suck it up?

Drunk Kelly is awesome.

So, Tea's representing Vimal, meaning he'll be going free then, considering she wins all of her cases... well, except for Cole.

Not really. Cole's case never went to trial. He was a lost cause anyway as that was his third offense. It wasnt even worth fighting

Ben, you're welcome! Your second guess is correct. We were told to suck it up and enjoy "Tess" doing what BW said she preferred (and DH preferred to write) which is play a rich, amoral, murderous mean girl. At one point, it came out that DH wanted to make her creation "Tess" the core personality and "Jessica" an alter (she was told no). Think about it. If "Tess" was the core, that meant Tess had been sexually-molested from birth to the extent that she had to create alters such as "Jessica" as an infant.

I agree there is no reason for "Tess" to be out this time. After all Jessica has been through, she should be able to handle this without splitting ten minutes after finding out about Ryder and Brody/Natalie. It's also extremely out of character for "Tess" to be joking around with her lascivious rapist even to play him (for reasons that so far seem really stupid). "Niki" never was anything like that when it came to dealing with rapist types. Towards the end of Viki's big DID storyline, "Niki" (who was a party-girl tease not a free-sex type) had scenes with a menacing stranger in a motel room. He wouldn't take "no" for an answer and started getting violent when she wouldn't "put out." She was so terrified, she ran out and split into "Princess" (the alter who was the age of Viki at the time her father started raping her). Dorian found "Princess" crumpled up on the ground in a park, weeping hysterically at the reminder of Father.

This time around, "Tess" is even less like her supposed Viki-counterpart "Niki" and unlike Viki, Jessica gives up without a fight. This is one of several quickie OOC stunts they're pulling on familiar characters that IMO won't be worth all the damage done. "Shocking" character destruction for the sake of cheap laughs and to "shake things up" for sweeps. Everyone around "Tess" always has to lose all brain and backbone function to accommodate her storyline which makes her yearly visits even more painful.

LOL, in the real world he probably is the perfect catch. When I was still a staff nurse, I've seen countess shirtless men and ME body looks like the statue of Adonis compared to the majority of people.

Nora threw the rape trial by saying that the boys were guilty. She caused a mistrial.

I had to laugh when Natalie said they'd have to put Ryder on a bottle if Jessica didn't return soon to breast feed him. With Natalie's jugs she could easily add one more baby!

One? Nat could nurse all of Angel Square.

Um, I know. I saw it, darling.

...and a mistrial isn't a win.

Damn RH fans love to believe that they know every literal and theoretical detail of some past Todd story.

I've been watching OLTL for over 20 years, I'm well aware of what happened. Go try to school someone else.
