Members bellcurve
Fearless Predictions: -People will wonder why Y&R is still #1 even though it's utter crap. -Long-winded, lame posts about how daytime as a whole is dying. -More bickering among AMC/OLTL/GH fans about which show is better and which one will survive cancellation. -More waxing poetic about "The Good Ole Days" -More "ATWT was canceled for The Talk!?" Members me4ryky
I thought it was "My show is worse than your show" posts. Here's hoping all soaps went up this week (while realizing it probably didn't happen)
Members marceline
Think of it as stable. Isn't that what people say about the shows? They aren't predictable, they're "stable."

Members Sylph
You forgot Fearless predictions posts and Here's hoping all soaps go up. The worst part is, this hasn't started yesterday! These threads have been the same for years.
Members bellcurve
You forgot..."So happy OLTL/DAYS/AMC went up .0000000001. It really is the best soap on the air."
Members Sylph
Here's hoping all soaps go up is my pet peeve. It's like people saying Throw more [!@#$%^&*] at me! after a tanker just did that exact same thing.

Members JaneAusten
I'm still baffled as to why folks believe quality really has that much bearing on ratings. It's why these "OLTL is the best soap on TV I don't know why it's ratings haven't gone up" and ""Y&R sucks why are people watching this dreck" posts always amuse me. Unless you see gradual sustained growth or decline, an up week here or there or down week here or there doesn't really matter in the whole scheme of things. Members JaySherman
There have been some fantastic shows over the years that have been cancelled because the ratings were just not there. Then there are shows that have great ratings as while the show may be pure crap to some, they give it's fans what they want (such as skin, sin, etc). Then there are those that find the right fit and have both. To me, ratings does not necessarily = quality but we know it's the current measure used to determine if a show remains on the air. Members remos
Perzachly. Quality and ratings aren't even neighbours.
Members marceline
+1 And as long as we misanthropes seem to be firing the first shots this week let me add my pet peeve... "[Title of show] is ON FIRE RIGHT NOW!" FFS, what is that supposed to mean?!?! <end Lewis Black> (Although to be fair, the soap press is just as guilty of that as posters.) The irony about that declaration - other than its emptiness - is that it's practically a curse. As soon as people declare a show to be on fire, you can start the countdown to the backlash. Members TeamEric
My Fearless Prediction: 90% of this thread will be spent mocking fellow posters versus discussing the actual ratings.
