Funny he mentions in the Interview about Ronald Reagan’s death interrupting the episode because that’s exactly what it did in the version in the vault!  Thankfully his scenes were salvaged!

I wonder who the other character was he could have been? Damon Porter? But he came on the year before? And I can’t figure out which actress was too short to pair him with definitely not VR and TLW because they are taller then that I think?

Please be polite.  The person running it is doing as a volunteer on their own time and own money and their own equipment,  as a kindness.    As they explained on their thread, sometimes they have a power failure, in which case the server/drive/whatever goes down, and they then fix it when they can.   They don't owe us anything.   We owe them gratitude for their kindness.

I’m always scouring the internet for any sign of life of my beloved Deborah Adair

Please register in order to view this content

She’s been off the grid since 1995

I saw her husband Chip Hayes was on the Melrose Place rewatch podcast “Still the Place” on 1/5/25, and I loved MP back in the day, so I gave it a listen.  I was expecting at least a little mention of DA, since she recurred on the first season, while Chip was a producer on MP.

I didn’t understand why they didn’t mention her at all, until near the end when Chip made a brief mention of “my ex-wife Deborah” so, guess they’re not together any more.

Also sad of note, I came across an obituary for her daughter Lucy Hayes, who passed at 26 in 2021   DA and Chip adopted Lucy soon after DA left the role of Kate on Days.

Of general soap interest…

Chip talked about knowing soap writer Chuck Pratt since high school…

Chuck won an Emmy for Santa Barbara, then started writing for MP. Chip talked about MP struggling in the ratings in season 1, and how Chuck’s “soapy” sensibility juiced up the stories (like Marcia Cross’ Kimberly being back-from-the-dead, and taking off her secret wig to reveal a giant nasty scar…)

After MP, Chip says he was a writer for AMC for 10 years, under head writer Chuck Pratt. I think the folks on the Classic AMC thread don’t have the best opinion of Chuck…

And you would be right, lol.

The thing is, I'd trust Chip Hayes' writing before I'd ever trust Chuck Pratt's.

How could Peter Bergman forget that Jack lived at the Newman Ranch for over 3 years??

All this talk about the Abbott set never being refurbished flashes me back to Deborah Adair's newlywed Jill making plan to remodel in Dec '82... but I guess she got distracted as that didn't happen. By the time Dina visits in Sept '83, she notes how the living room is exactly the same as she left it 11 years prior...

Haha it’s frustrating how the actors forget things the audience usually knows better!  but I was expecting PB to be disgusted with the change so I’m glad he’s on board (or so it seems)

I had no idea he was a grandfather now!

SOD NOV 2018

Peter Bergman looks back...

Favorite Thing About Working With Eileen Davidson (ex-Ashley)? “It was the level of trust we
have. She did all of the work, so all I had to do was my stuff. She was so completely Ashley that when we were on set, all I had to do was be Jack. I didn’t have to change the tempo of the scene, I only had to be just Jack.”

Favorite Thing About Working With Jason Thompson (Billy)? “Jason is a very good actor. He challenges me and I get rewarded for coming prepared to work with Jason. I always know he’s going to really mix it up with me, and it’s just fantastic.”

Favorite Thing About Working With Beth Maitland (Traci)? “I absolutely adore Beth and I love
whenever she comes back for Abbott drama. Beth has a quality that is very much like Traci. They bring out the best in me and Jack. We’re better people because of Beth and Traci.”

Favorite Thing About Working
With Joshua Morrow (Nick)? “Josh and I have a lot of history together and it’s great fun. Jack and Nick have a pretty complex relationship and they’ve been through a lot together.
And Josh, too, is a very nice actor.”

Favorite Thing About Having Marla Adams (Dina) Back? “Marla is a love, and she just sends out love. She reminds me to be thankful for my job because she’s so grateful for this work. I thought it was just fantastic when she got her first Emmy nomination this year.
Bringing back Dina was genius because this is the first woman who walked out of Jack’s life and certainly not the last. There have been a string of women who have paid for the sins of Dina. There’s something so powerful for me as an actor to have someone standing there, who Jack obviously loves and needs so much from but wants to punish in the worst way, all at the same time. As an actor, that is heaven-sent.”

Favorite Set? “Without question, it’s the Abbott living room. They’ve renovated everything on this show — offices, restaurants and homes — except the Abbott living room, and I love that this family doesn’t try to make it bigger and better. Most of the furniture in that living room is inherited. None of the Abbott kids ever went furniture shopping and Jack has no plans to change or upset anything. It’s a beautiful set, full of texture and warmth and old money.”

    • Tessa clarified a few years ago that she is gay and not bi.   I find it offensive that the show is teasing her with Daniel. Mariah told Sharon she went emotionally/mentally to a dark place, and while she was out of town on business she got drunk and did something bad.  But Mariah didn't say she cheated.  The show wants us to assume that, but she didn't say that.  She could have taken drugs or who knows what.  All we know is that she feels shame and doesn't want Tessa to know.  Mariah says the inner darkness is due to the longterm influence of Ian in the past, and she hasn't healed from that. With a *good* writer, we could have organic conflict in the Teriah marriage, without cheating.  But JG isn't a good writer.
    • Was that before his accident? I think it was. Most of us have never seen him before it happened.
    • I wonder if Falcon Crest wasn't seen as macho enough for them.  I first saw Dynasty on FX around 1994 or 1995. I think it ran for a few years, although I may be off as I moved and lost the channel for a while.
    • -- The fact that we know the mess that Billy made when he renovated the Chancellor place makes his entire sadsack attitude pathetic. I wanted someone to smack the hell out of him. -- And why did Diane care so much about Billy's opinion beyond hearing he liked it better before? Why continue pressing him on it? Josh Griffith clearly thinks this is a storyline, and it isn't. It never was. -- So Mariah cheated on Tessa offscreen. OF COURSE it was offscreen. Then we got this ridiculous, convoluted explanation of why she cheated, ending in her announcement that she doesn't have any character at all. GMAFB.  -- Now we'll get the cliche garbage of Mariah confessing to Tessa, who turns to Daniel for sex even though she's a lesbian. (Please spare me the comment that Tessa is bi.) -- The excuse for Summer leaving town? Also pathetic. Why in the hell would she have to leave town to find a new creative director for Marchetti?
    • I vaguely recall it surfaced on either TNT or TBS around 1993 or so but I could be wrong about the channel. By 1997 when this article was written Knots was still airing on TNT, Dallas was on the old TNN network (which today is Paramount), and Dynasty was on…well I don’t even recall now but feel like it was either E!  or Bravo. TNN ran Dukes of Hazzard and Dallas together in the evenings for years surprised they didn’t just pick up FC to resurrect the trifecta.
    • I think you're thinking of the dress she wore on April 15 from her Ebony cover shoot when Andre had to put her in bed.
    • @Maximthank you for such a thoughtful reply. I have printed it out so I have it with me as I watch most of the soap clips on the YT app on my TV. I've always wanted to get into Edge of Night, but I didn't no where to start.
    • Laugh-In was also before my time, but I loved watching her when Nick at Nite and TV Land ran repeats. She was also on Sesame Street for years. So vibrant. One of those people I've never heard bad word of. Sorry to hear that.
