Brandon Denson is on the FB group The Young and the Restless - The Classic Years. He is posting some clips there. I recommend everyone here join. Janice Lynde is a member, so is Tracy Bregman and Brenda Epperson. Not sure who else. I know Brenda Dickson was on there a few years ago, but got banned. Janice actually posts on the group here and there and they even got Jess Walton to send a video for the Fake Jill day (where they celebrate all the Jill's, lol) The group can be busy sometimes and quiet others.

I'm gonna pause my 1991 watch to view those 1986 episodes! Thanks again!!! Right now I'm in November 1991 and I'm convinced this HAS to be one of the Top Five years in Y&R history. Such a transformative year and so much has been done to integrate these new characters into the canvas without sacrificing the existing characters.

One key thing that stuns me is just how unbelievably good Victoria Rowell is. She doesn't get the credit she deserves for just what she did here. Bill Bell and Victoria Rowell are a FORCE together. You can tell he is loving writing for her! Something as simple as her getting a $50 raise on her paycheck was such a great character building moment and something that could never work the way writers write soaps today. She can literally do ANYTHING. Now after a chance meeting, she's become friends with Cricket and is interested in becoming a model. Having her interact and develop a REAL friendship with Cricket and Danny is just expanding her character even more. It's amazing seeing how well integrated the black characters are! She brings 110% to any scene given and no matter how slow an episode may be, if you see her you know it'll be worth watching.

Another heavy hitter is Nikki's alcoholism which has developed nicely over the year. She has left the ranch maybe twice this year, but it serves a purpose. I also love how they randomly have her in two or three outfits in one day even though she never leaves her home. There are so many subtle, but bizarre things that she's doing and MTS is knocking it out of the park finding different ways to hide her problem from her various family members and Miguel. It's getting to a critical point where Jack is reaching his breaking point and it's a real breakthrough for Peter Bergman as Jack. Also in the Newman household you have 16 year old Victoria losing her virginity after Ryan pressured her into sex. I love that they're actually developing the emotional impact of this and how she truly wasn't ready. And they're even allowing her and Ashley to confront Ryan about his actions. It's a simple story on paper, but the execution is doing so much to continue developing the character of Victoria. In general, most of Bill Bell's plots are very simple, it's the execution that makes them so engrossing. I *so* miss this type of writing!

Lastly, I finally understand why people love Sheila so much. I've reached the point where Lauren's son Dylan has died and seeing Sheila's coldness and glee is chilling. She's so subtle, but powerful. The way she's treating her mom and even Scott is getting to the point where I can't see him remaining married to her much longer. When they do break up I know her crazy ass bout to lose it and I cannot wait! This is the most interesting story that Lauren has had since I started watching.

Thanks for your hard work as always @YRfan23!!!!! I have much to catch up on myself!

By that point if I recall right Eric had started a singing/music career and left town. He never found out that he was indeed the father of Julia's daughter Jamie. Julia's new husband Charles adopted her, I think only Victor knew the real truth. By Julia's 2002 Charles had passed away, Jamie was in college and there was no mention of Garrison at all.

    • Finally got to sit down and watch. Wow!  When LesDanLuAnn said to Ted, this your daughter. I started tearing up...... Eva got me.  I felt like I was watching a soap opera.

    • The drag was when Tad and Edmund went to Budapest (?) in 1997 to get Maddie back from Dimitri.
    • I know it's not happening but on the surface, there's nothing left for Leslie and Eva to do but to hightail it out of town, if they value their lives. Leslie has destroyed Ted's image, embarrassed and humiliated his wife and children, and unearthed the wrath of the entire Dupree family. She's crazier than I thought if she thinks they are just going to let this slide.
    • It will be amazing if we could record the skipped episodes. Did someone sent a list of the skipped youtube episodes to the guys that are filling in the gaps?
    •   I don't think they ever wanted Sprina to be popular and I don't think they will bring Spencer back until Trina is gone. They've worked hard to marginalize their black cast, and that is only increasing. Trina/Gio could have been an interesting relationship, but they would rather just whittle that character away and then write her out.
    • Daytime belonged to CBS. They would have been making a lot of $$$ with that lineup. For context, this is the lineup at that time. Only one soap on ABC (GH) and NBC (TD) which was still an anthology at that point. So it wasn't until the opposition added more soaps that they became competitive. NBC CBS ABC 10:00am Say When! • Per recent Twitch live: Wraps filming his new film on Friday. Begins a new film on May 19. Will resume regular Twitch streams soon. Has a lot of projects coming out later this year. His current project has kept him in Tennessee longer than he was meant to be.
    • Has BTG been using flashbacks much? Of course, as a new show there aren't many f/b worthy moments but I think they can get by w/o having to use/recreate the Leslie reveal scene. What other 'soap' tropes have they employed or ignored so far? We've talked about the lack of traditional cliffhangers with lingering camera shots. They have done a couple of fantasy scenes. Has anyone apart from Dana had talk to themselves scenes? Montages?
    • Thank You!!! @rsclassicfanforever and to anyone else who contributed to the vaults over the years. I have dipped in/out and gotten my life watching Y&R early years. I never would had the appreciation for characters like Lorie Brooks if not for the Vaults, so again, Thanks.
