Thanks for posting that Carl!, I PM'd that guy on youtube if he has any classic Y&R episodes himself to upload (since he posted the commercial breaks from a few 1994 episodes) but he hasn't gotten back to me yet....

I have a question regarding the Cole story, Did Nikki realize that Eve was his mother? When i read old messages from the google archieves, fans were complaining that Nikki seemed to have forgotten all about the Horrors that Eve put her through and didn't put 2 and 2 together and figure out Eve was Cole's mom. Apparently there was also an episode when Eve called the ranch and Nikki spoke to her without any fear at all. Considering then it was only 10 years since the hell Nikki had been through with Eve, it shouldn't have been so hard for Nikki to figure that out.

Gotta love this:

I've heard the biggest complaint about Eve Howard's return was the way Eve was remembered/written for as a lot was apparently swept under the rug and Eve was reformed for the most part. Then again being gone for a decade does have its advantages. Aside from very unsuccessfully trying to kill Nikki on her wedding, I believe most of Eve's schemes were carried out against Victor and Julia. Then again I do recall reading Eve had an affair to remember with Rick Daros while they were in the mental hospital together but how involved was Eve in the main Rick Daros story?

I've always thought Alison Bancroft was more terrifying than Eve anyways.

Thanks for posting this article about Brenda carl! I love her Ashley, even if she did play it differently than Eileen

Thats very sad about her father, i had no idea.

It's funny how she was on B&B I think she would have done good with Kristen too back then (or even now) i think Teri Ann Lynn looked like her a lot too.

It's funny how she talk about maintaining to Eileen's strength's when the irony is that she was a totally different Ashley. not that it was a bad thing.

It's so tough for me to ever see Ashley as strong, whoever plays her, but they did change her personality. I usually don't see the resemblance to Eileen but I definitely do in that photo with Victor and Leanna. I'm glad they changed her hair and clothing after a while.

I wish I could see a clip of her with Terry Lester.

Brenda Eppersonwub.png

I've always thought Ashley must be a difficult character to write for her because she was so many things. When she wasn't weak and crazy she's cold and bitchy and Epperson captured some of Davidson's coolness from time to time as Y&R's secondary heroine(second to Nikki of course). Yet Ashley always maintained a collected, quiet maturity and warmth at the same time, more so with Epperson. That was one of the problems with Shattuck was she was too--with regards to Victoria Newman--brash and sassy to be Ashley.

    • I can't speak for Sonni, but I thought Annie came off as neurotic from very early on. That's just how Cynthia Watros plays her parts, and the writing went along. I don't think Claire was mentally ill - they claimed she had a brain tumor, didn't they? I am never sure just why they made the effort given that she was leaving anyway.
    • @DeeVee Claire is a perfect example. So many women came to Springfield as competent, smart, and talented professionals. Then they’d attract a so-called “good guy,” get dumped, and spiral into complete chaos. What always strikes me is how clearly it plays like a male fantasy—yet it was written and sold to a female audience.  I'm not a content expert, but I don't think cis gendered women fantasize about losing control of their mental faculties in response to an orgasm.
    • I just watched some parts of an episode of GL where Roger has just been shot by Holly. Rita then admits to Hillary that Roger raped her. Kasdorf is such a fantastic actress. I wish there were more of her work available.
    • -- Alex Alegria has almost a full sleeve tattoo on one arm and a large tatt on one pec. I see no indication that the show is covering up his ink,
    • Didn't Carrie2 even seduce a minor? Ick. Oh, yeah, and she even tried to seduce Alan, but this was his post-prison era when he was trying to prove to everyone he had changed. It's funny that of all people he didn't go for it. Wait. Josh had an affair with Vanessa? Or she just thought he did? I know people always say "it's just a soap" but the way mental illness is portrayed on soaps (and that goes for pretty much all of them) has always been not great, especially PPD. They practically turned Claire into The Joker. She also was trying to seduce men. (I notice that now Mary Ryan Munisteri is listed as co HW with Ryder in the 1986 episodes, Claire has calmed down a lot. Never thought her GL career was very good but seems like she tried to course correct that a bit).
    • sss Ms. Tunie is a goddess. I feel all the anger, pride, sadness, arrogance, dignity, fear, love, and other emotions in everything she does as Anita.
    • You're right. People like me who stuck with her, did so because of her history. The show just skated her along with no story,  no goal, no aim. Right again! This is who I forgot before. When you describe her, it makes me appreciate her more. Thinking back I loved Mandy.
    • Maybe Guza is becoming Y&R Head writer and Jilly will be named EP! Remember CBS installed Latham as consultant and later Mal Young, both of whom took over the show. Of course, they each got credit during the consulting days.
    • Don't forget Carrie, who as Carrie2 was screwing everything in pants, and PPD Reva, who to either get back at Josh for his supposed affair with Vanessa (or just to prove she's more desirable than Van) tries to screw half the male population.
