I had no idea of Julie, or her role on DAYS, but the way she describes DAYS' decision-making and filming processes these days is mindboggling. It's pretty obvious she had no idea what the hell was going on the whole time she was there but just rolled with the punches.

She mentions that her initial scenes were cut and likely the only reason they were put up for people to see is because she thinks Ron saw the behind the scenes video she made and uploaded (and then her character was brought back later). She also seemed very confused about the last story for her character.

She talks a little about being there during Drake's last day of filming, although she did not know that at the time and they didn't interact.

Was Nick Corelli popular ? I mean the show intruduced him weirdly during the early 80’s as a pimp and brought him back so randomly in 86. They did have him so many screentime and storylines with Eve + his tumor or whatever illness he had + his triangle with April and Mike.

so I assume he must’ve been pretty popular with the audience?

I think Nick/Eve were popular.  Even though it's weird lol.  I believe Nick was introduced as a villain and after Eve became more grey and slightly redeemed to make the romance more viable.  The actor had some charm, but I don't think the character was especially important nor popular until Eve.

It was a poor retread of Steve and Kayla.  Charismatic actor brought on to play a creep, fans find him oddly magnetic, and so he was put in a romantic pairing.  It was very phantom of the opera inspired.  I don't know the timing, but I assume a new creative team no longer felt the appeal, and he was cut.

You can't go back to that well too often, and Patch/Steve was a once in a generation find.  Obviously (and thankfully), by today's standards, nobody would promote a pimp who deals in teen hookers to romantic status.

Also, if I remember correctly, he lived in the basement of Wings (or whatever it was called at that point).  Which would be a bad idea in real life, but it was a cute set.

Yes it seemed a very calculated attempt to create the next super couple of the reformed bad guy, still with a dark side , saved by the woman he loved.

Days pushed it and I think the mags went along but there was obviously not that visceral reaction that Roman/Marlena, Bo/Hope, Steve/Kayla and Shane/Kimberley received.

I’m watching that period on YouTube and it did seem like there were a lot of potential supercouples that ultimately went nowhere.

Eve/Nick were one of them, but I also get that that impression from RoJohn/Diana and Mike/April too.

Btw, how did Nick even get involved with Mike/April anyway? At the point that I’m up to, he’s basically just in a bubble with Eve.

Nick bought Blondies/Wings and April worked there along with Eve.  I think Nick and April decided to get married out of convenience but I am not exactly sure why.  It has something to do with Mike mostly.  April wanted him to move on to be with his son I think.   Nick wanted Eve to move on as well.  Nick was always injured, burned or sick during this time period so it might be related to that.  After awhile I think April/Nick just got an annulment and moved on lol.

Thanks to the replies guys.

i remember when i started Days back then Nick/April/Mike were a thing.

I remember they threw them at us in nearly every episode. when they finally moved on from April and Nick and gave April and Mike their happy end Mike left the show. I was really mad as a child. Like what the actual hell? We waited for April and Mike to happen for so long with the obstacle that was Nick just for Mike to leave so randomly and abruptly? Still doesn’t sit right with me lol

i collect old magazines and I do notice that they were kinda forcing the Nick/Eve pairing on the readers. They did have chemistry I will admit and Nick became a bit more likeable after his villain arc ended.

BUT I’d rather have a pimp like Nick being a romantic lead with staying power over a damn serial killer with a tumor like Ben Weston lol

It is even in an 80's lense lol.  It's not like Nick was a reformed pimp once he got on the show-he was an active pimp.   That pimped out his own underaged girlfriend.  I do think the Nick actor (George Jenesky?  Idk what name he's going by now) had some smarmy charm, but I never felt the show actively tried that hard to redeem him.  He and Charlotte Ross had nice chemistry, but I am not sure why any sane woman would want to date him.  I think Eve's troubled past may have helped explain some of the reasoning, but it was still creepy.

If I was going to make a Steve/Kayla comparison I would probably go with Pete/Melissa as following that prototype.  It's hard though because Pete/Melissa felt like a Bo/Hope redux too, but Bo's "bad" boy tendencies were fairly mild.

I want to say Michael T. Weiss was either let out of his contract early to do another project or left abruptly when his contract ended because the deal fell apart.  Since you have old mags you might be able to find out more about that or I could just being making it up in my head lol.  It all seemed so last minute.

      Come on Articulettes. Bring it.
    • I didn’t even think about that!
    • Agree. We already have that with Dani and Nicole and they are setting up Kat to be hurt that way too. We dont need a 4th
    • Hahaha, dead. I still remember when Sharon threw Nikki's past in her face "you started on a pole and ended in a bottle". We saw Nikki go from climbing the pole to the OG ho turned housewife then snooty lady of the manor and now messy matriarch/grande dame.

Very cheesy cover, but she got some good names to give quotes on how great the book is: Susan Flannery, Alec Baldwin (random), Pamela Long, Paul Rauch, Robert Newman, TV Guide, Soaps In Depth, and others. I'll have to let y'all know what I think when I get around to reading it haha.
    • I started trying to get back into the show to see Mishael’s return and it’s been challenging. Especially with Days, GH, and BTG all being so entertaining at the same time. Squeezing in something as boring and anti soap opera as current Y&R just isn’t a fun chore.
