Members DramatistDreamer
Kathryn Hays really hasn't changed much over the years, just added grace with age. That voice sounds familiar, is it Paul Williams? I just saw a documentary about him like last week and his voice is still pretty fresh. The documentary was called Paul Williams-Still Alive or something like that. The documentary was so-so but interesting nonetheless because I didn't know much about him but I do remember coming across some of his stuff on You Tube and came to realize what a prolific songwriter he was.

Members DRW50
Such awful awful hair on Kim and Lisa. Kim's complete contempt for Steve makes me laugh far more than it was likely intended to do. It's a good thing I was not really old enough to watch at this time and there was no Internet, as I would have been ranting all day about the way use her to prop him. Everything with the Gunnar/Barbara group is so flat (and poor Elaine Princi saddled with that "continental" accent - I guess those scenes were writing out that pointless Bilan character). By contrast the scenes with Tom and Margo have real tenderness and heart. I guess it's not too hard to figure out what the show was concentrating on at this point. There's also a ton of intimacy with Deas and Colin that blurs many lines. I can see why HBS said he had real problems adjusting to her after Colin left the show. The schlocky music video with Betsy was an odd detour, although it was an interesting time capsule to what ATWT was at this point, and what it wanted to be. At one point I thought she was going to jump (frankly I wouldn't have been upset if she had). Diana's flirting with Craig is kind of hot. victoria foxton
From what little i've seen of Gunner i'm not impressed. I Did like the interaction between Barbara, Gunner, Lisa, Whit, Kim, Bob and Miranda. It's so strange to me seeing Bob married to someone besides Kim. I did like the Betsy/Steve/Craig/Diana quad. I loved seeing the passion that MC and JD brought to Tom and Margo. It's really sad that soaps today don't have the money for a location shoot or to use music.
Members NothinButAttitude
Ooo! Thanks, Carl! I will go back and watch that episode from 1983 later on. Please register in order to view this content Tonio is such a low down, dirty dog. Does the people he is in cahoots with really have info on Sierra or are they just trying to pilfer money out of Lucinda and Craig? Just when I grew to like Tonio a few episodes ago because he felt bad and had a soft spot about Sierra, he goes and does this. Speaking of Lucinda, she is no better. No wonder her karma was sh-t around this time. From her using Pam's dad and Julie to cause trouble for Duke and that slight jab she gave my Caleb when Lily called from Waco, she is an evil ass b-tch too! But I love Lucy! But damn she was devious. Julie faking a pregnancy is so cliche but I am eager to see where Marland is gonna take this. I think he's one of the few capable writers that can take this trope and actually make it interesting. Poor Andy. He is sprung. Julie has him wrapped around her finger like nothing. So I am guessing that James was the one that called Emily and is the one that Buddy is in cahoots with? Brock and Emily.... That shower scene was so sexy! MS' Emily has done a lot of her best work in the shower. I thought that shower scene with Holden awhile back hot but her and Brock are even hotter.
Members Mitch
Hated Gunnar and his weird mouth...never understood his popularity. The Babs/Gunnar group together was good in that it got everyone together, which ATWT did not do well at this point. I just kept watching that and imaging what Marland would do for it, as it is comparable to everyone coming to Bob and Kim's house when something happened.... the Dobsons make it look like they just were trying to burn off gaurantees (and one of the reasons Fulton left) and it is ackward. Marland would have had Lisa stopping by to discuss Tom with Bob, and Miranda would have her stay for dinner, and Lisa would say it was a good time to get Bob and Whit to sit down at a table, and KIm would be mentioning Betsy and Craigs problems, etc. The writers here focus on one storyline issue a scene. Princi could have been interesting as a character with an edge..maybe a Lucy like business woman. Instead any conflict is ignored by having her being a high society housewife. Bilan was so boring, the Dobs created these boring young characters like Nick's stepdaughter who disappeared quickly. A good storyline would be that Miranda and Whit were exlovers or lovers currently behind Bob and Lisa's back...(Bilan a Whit daughter would freak Diana out) Of course, they would have to have a recast Whit, this guy is gross. The Tom and Margo scenes are as fresh as when they are first aired and I HATED Deas on GL. The two of them are so intimate in this...its like a real couple discussing a really stupid misunderstanding. Sets are ugly...(weird to see Kim in that house set which would be iconic with she and Bob..) and yes, Kim and Lisa's hair..what the freak did Fulton think..it made her look 20 years older.
Members NothinButAttitude
Got around to the '83 episode @DRW50 posted and I thought the scene with Steve/Andy was cute! I also thought it was funny that Andy slipped and told where Betsy was. And I find David to be annoying as hell. From reading recaps as of late and watching old episodes, I just don't care for him. I realize his importance on the show at the time but he's so moody (in the recaps I've been reading), and in the '83 episode I get the impression that he was gonna squeal when it came to Betsy's whereabouts.
Members DRW50
This was the only time for most of his run (minus the '60s) that he had much to do. I will admit he gets a bit tiresome at times, but his daughters were so boring and stupid I can see why he was frustrated.
Members NothinButAttitude
Reading recaps and seeing a few clips, I can see how Dee was dumb but I enjoy Annie. She seems logical despite her union with that icky Brad. I'm reading recaps on him now and I've seen the few clips of him and that pornstache that WLS posted awhile back. I am not impressed. But that aside, Ellen, Annie, and Betsy (at times) are the only likable Stewarts until Emily comes onto the scene in the form of MS.
Members DRW50
I don't care for Julie Ridley as Annie - she seems very old and very milquetoast. Randall Edwards played her briefly when Ridley left. I wish that had lasted.
Members vetsoapfan
WORD. Those Stewart girls were dumber than a pile of rocks, and painfully tedious much of the time. if I were David and had to deal with those morons, I'd be testy all the time, too.
Members Mitch
I found ALL the Stewarts except for SexBombEmily to be dull. Now that you mention it David is very moody, but I thought that made him a bit more interesting and also set him apart from always cheerful always stalwart Bob. David was the Ed Bauer kind of patriarch...they should have let him be a drunk or something fun..though I did like that he was bagging whatsherface from AW but he had to have amnesia to even do that. It was weird that the Dobsons thought they could do away with Nancy and Chris and replace them with David and Ellen..David was morose and Ellen was weak and dull as dishwater. God, I forgot how much I was annoyed by Ryan's Betsy, morosely wandering around Spain....I love how she never had to attend college and no one seemed concerned about her having a career..she was like a heroine from the 60s..it was all about her man and her baby.
Members NothinButAttitude
But I thought Ryan's Betsy was insanely popular? I guess you all are debunking that myth.
