Also, wasn't there are rumor that Irna intended to have the Hughes and Matthews be old friends? I know I read/heard that online somewhere.

I can't answer this question directly. But there was a line in the early days of Another World in which Alice told someone that Jim and Mary were visiting their friends, the Hughes, in Oakdale. And this would have been while Irna Phillips and Bill Bell were still writing Another World.

I thought Cass was alright. I wouldn't have minded seeing him more often. He never quite felt like himself on ATWT but then he wouldn't.

I'm sure Stephen would work on soaps if asked. He's been on DAYS a few times this year and last year.

I heard he was up for the role of Richard on GL..NOW that would have been a sexy prince I could see every going nuts over...however, I am glad he was not sacrificed for this role and LW/Cassie..(though he may have lit a fire under Zimmer and brought some of her old talent back...)

I wouldn't have minded Stephen Schnetzer joining ATWT as a new character - maybe as a new love interest for Barbara - but trying to keep AW alive in some form on the other P&G soaps always felt a little cruel to me.  Like, if you miss AW so badly, P&G, why didn't you do more to keep it from being cancelled?

He would have been good as Richard, I agree, if a little old for the Cassie pairing. He would have made sense with Reva.

You're right, but I do wish they'd gotten to live on a little longer through ATWT and GL. Irna did love crossovers. I know the idea is they took time away from vets, but it's not as if vets were dominant by this time anyway. As Penny said in her 1998 visit - "Who ARE these people?"

I remember Penny's comment.  My sentiments exactly!!

OK. That makes sense. I think had Another World been a CBS soap and that was established throughout, I do think it would've been easier to bounce characters from Bay City to Oakdale.

Spit Take Lol GIF by Justin

That was MY reaction to the clip before Lisa's, with Breck Jamison and Terri Vanderbosch giving some truly awful line readings.

You're getting sexier and sexier!!!! LOL...I actually remember this promo (my Mom stopped watching ATWT as the got rid of the vets..or as she called them "the old people" but she saw this and was "Well its about TIME!" ...and Eileen's face..discovering "Ole dead WHIT!" Its true..the look on her face is not..."My husband's lying dead in front of me with his head bashed in" but..."Now I'm going to have to pay a fortune to clean this damn carpet"Edited to agree with Khan..it looks like the dog took a big crap...well, Whit was a big turd!! Also agree on the line readings, what the hell would she be afraid of..your THAT big! I had the hots for the actor at that time...I woulda been like "Quit talking and show me what I should be afraid of!!!"

I love how the announcer is "There is MURDER in Oakdale and Lisa's back in the thick of it!" and there is only Whit's shoes making the cut..Just sad that it was a bid deal to have Lisa back and look how Gautman treated her

That's such a great tagline.

I love the red shoes too. I wonder if that was Eileen's idea as she seemed to be involved with her wardrobe. I can hear her saying, "Just call me Dorothy."

I do like Jay - as you said, he was cute, even if not the greatest actor. I understand why Marland wrote him out, even if it was only a half-exit (he was still living in Oakdale with that Speed woman [what was her actual name?] who must have escaped from Lujack's old gang), but I might have just had him in Kevin's role. I know they had the whole Marie backstory, which was pivotal in driving Frannie closer to Douglas Cummings, but they could have invented a past lady for Jay too.

I think he popped up following the Doug ordeal to see Frannie afterwards. I remember her mentioning "Speed" too.

There's a fair amount of 1986 missing, but yes, that's my last memory of him - I think he and Speed are in their diner or whatever they were doing and were happy.
