He sucks at interviewing...just as someone is about to get to an interesting point, he jumps in with an inane comment, and its not even like he is trying to stop them from besmirching his old bosses, he just does it..he is the Mike Douglas and Dinah Shore of today....(shows you how old I am) just like him they got great guests but blew it on just talking about crap (at least Alan doesn't sing "That Old Black Magic" or something from the "Fantasticks")

I liked Katie too...and never understood the animosity...but granted, I didn't watch much in my last ten years, and I thought she was more fun as a schemer my favorite line "Henry, you just walked into my Henry Free Zone, now get out of it"

I just watched Clue a couple of weeks ago and liked it!

Lily was beyond annoying as the teenage princess of Oakdale....some old friends of mine still say when something happens "But what will Lily feel about this..did anyone tell Lily..did they check in on her?"  That was all Marland as I was okay with her after he was gone...kind of the same way I was with Reva...she was annoying as hell but I was used to her.

Well, who was looking at poor Steven when there was big brother Tim Daley to look at!

He's not that bad!! He's not great at it either. What is most annoying is when you're trying to help him out, from the CHAT, and you're trying to get his attention so he will ask them THIS & if he doesn't NOT SEE YOU. ARGH.

At one point I liked Katie but then at the end with Goutman saying she was Oakdale's Sweetheart, well UGH.

I have always LOVED CLUE!

The real question is do you love THE PRINCESS BRIDE. That is where we divide the wheat from the chaff. Which are you? I'm wheat.

I loved Lily. Now these days Martha is driving me buggy. Not just Martha though. Have you seen Doug Davidson's posts?!!!

Michael Fairman is a professional journalist, also something of a Renaissance man. Alan is this guy who does this thing. One is clearly an apple, the other maybe a cumqwat.  I have just discovered I have NO IDEA how to spell that word. OKAY. Maybe he is a satsuma. Fixed it.

THE PRINCESS BRIDE is must see! OY. This is terrible, truly terrible. I have watched it probably 2 dozen times. I have the DVD. (Although I no longer have a DVD player.) I have the book. I have 2 different Princess Bride t-shirts. I have the book Cary Elwes wrote for its anniversary about the making of the movie. Quoting it is of course, easy peasy. I should be able to think of more ....

Okay, wait. You said NO BILLY CRYSTAL! That means you didn't/don't watch the brilliant Susan Harris soap that is a parody of soaps, SOAP! I'm very concerned for your soap soul.

The thing about Alan is that he had a good idea during the Pandemic to host a YT live podcast/interview style show featuring celebrities from defunct soap operas.   It provided people that were dealing with the pandemic a chance to remember their fav soaps, performers, and to catch up on what they were up to.

However, over time.. I noticed that he wasn't improving and once people got over the newness of the concept.. they started to notice his short comings.  He is too stuck on the 'interview 101' questions.. and seems unable to go with the flow.. or know when to be quiet if the guest is getting to an interesting point of a story, etc.

To me, his episodes feel stilted and not natural at all.  I wonder if maybe he should stick to producing it and having someone else handle the hosting duties?

An example of a recent podcast/interview show that I enjoyed was the one hosted by the late Shannen Dohery.  I listened to the one where she had Katherine Heigl on... and it felt like less like an interview and more about two people just having a conversation.  It just flowed effortlessly to me.

Thank you for posting this link.

Years ago, I remember reading that James Earl Jones portrayed a doctor and I couldn’t remember whether it was GL or ATWT. Turns out it was both. And different characters too. On ATWT, Jones portrayed Dr. Jerry Turner.

Too bad P&G wasn’t really into preserving their soaps. That really could have been something had they had episodes with James Earl Jones to show.
I am glad that theatre producers like Joseph Papp had to good sense to film and archive Jones’ theatrical work. It’s illuminating to be able to see Jones’ onstage work, especially the earlier works.

    • It really made Oscar the Doorman seem like an imbecile.   I think the show's unusual format & subject manner is what makes EON often seem less "dated" and "old-fashioned" than other shows from that time period.  It never attempted to be especially "trendy" or "modern" -- and its film noir style is pretty timeless.
    • Dallas, Dynasty, Knots and Falcon Crest all had good runs but by 85 they had seen better days. I think they were a victim of the format. After several seasons seeing the same characters front and center viewers were bored. What was once fascinating grew predictable. JR, Alexis etc had to be front and center and after a while their schemes and shtick grew repetitive. JR remarrying Sue Ellen, Alexis constantly trying to get he better of Blake etc Unlike daytime, there wasn't the flexibility to bring in other stories and characters and maybe let the likes JR go backburner. That same mentality also invaded daytime with characters like  Sonny and Victor still peddling the same stuff after decades. I guess the same could be said for MSW eg every week Jessica encounters a crime and solves it,but I think viewers come to that format with a different mindset.
    • Daphnee and Trisha did a live stream on Instagram and confirmed they find out if the show gets picked up in May. This pretty much confirms they're on the primetime schedule like the Bell soaps. Fingers crossed we get a multi-year renewal announcement soon!  https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJSsYb7PDv8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
    • I don't think Lois the character was there.  The Lois we knew from the 90s has pretty much died with this  Gio story crap.
    • Have to agree re MM. The goody two shoes character and writing doesn't help but maybe a more dynamic actor would help Brandon lift his game also. I found the song sequence a little OTT. First of all it should have been shorter and maybe the song fades out and just some music to accompany the montage. I think it would have worked better if Anita had have been alone after everyone left and started tinkling leading into the song, with Vernon coming in observing and then joining her for  a close moment. Everyone standing around felt a little too much. And that closing effect with the two blackscreens meeting was unnecessary. Just a fade out would have been enough.

    • And sadly I think that’s the trivia Both Jeanne Cooper and Eric Braeden went with for years and years. Lol
    • But people were hating so bad on amc and the final year and the ratings sucked. Business wise they made the right call. Oltl who even gained some ratings back and weren’t they higher as GH at one point is a decision and never understood.
    • Ann Williams was the first Maggie Powers on The Doctors but left to have a baby. Maggie was successfully recast so Ann picked up the role of Eunice (Jo's sister on Search for Tomorrow) and played that role for 10 years before being killed of in 1976. That led to her role of Margo on EON.
    • Looking at those totals it seems most contract actors are on a 1 or 2 week average guarantee. I assume contracts are still operating on 13 week cycles so you would have to know the particular actors contract starting date to work out their guarantee. The question remains as to what actors listed as contract are actually recurring? Bryton ?
