This quote is of me: Okay, Scott Holroyd was fired. Roger Howarth was brought on. Dusty claimed not to have been to college when before that retcon he had been to Harvard. Leah Laiman had been brought on. Holden had sex with Rose & didn't realize it *was* Rose, instead thinking it was Lily (which is one of soap's ridiculous tropes). Holden had a hilarious reaction to Rose's Native New Jersey accent. Rose paid for her sins by being killed off. Lily was supposed to have grieved the loss of Rose through song & for a long time.

Now, someone has told me all of this happened on air. So, I may have gotten confused about some stuff about Lily & Rose & Dusty & Roger Howarth.

Thanks.

John who? And, yes, Dusty & Molly historical retcon plus Jack & Molly historical retcon! When Jack should have been in Chicago but Jack's whole family took part in the retcon of Jack & Molly having crushes on each other as teens. Every Snyder reinforced that retcon! Is the John Dusty treated poorly John Dixon? Well, that little beast. Who was he living with? Not John? LMAO, this Oh Snap clip is getting me!

Geez, I feel fortunate to either have forgotten or simply not been watching some of this crap.  If the show wanted to pull a character from Luther's Corners that Dusty could have met, why didn't they just use Janie Cobb? And Janie and Holden dated so it might have at least made use of some plausible history, instead of nonsense.

The sins of taking over Lily's life? I swear she died long after that story ended. It always felt to me like Rose died because Martha Byrne was tired. Rose and Lily were heavily frontburner for 3 years. I hated her by the end anyway so no big loss for me.

Janie and Holden dated in the 1980s on and off, presumably before he met Lily.   Back when he was deviously plotting to get in between Dusty and Lily, (while his sister Meg was trying to seduce Dusty), I remember a few occasions where Holden deliberately used Janie to make Lily jealous. She appeared onscreen, more than once.

I hate it when soap writers pull characters out of nowhere and create some ridiculously spun backstory.  At least use someone that can be seen in a classic clip, then it might have some resonance. Even if you didn't see Dusty and Janie "together", viewers can still draw the conclusion that it was plausible since everybody knew that Janie lived in Luther's Corners and existed during that time.

Jack had a teenage crush on Molly, but it was not mutual, she only had eyes for Holden.

"Previously unknown relatives" always get some kind of retcon. As time went on (and continuity was a thing of the past), Jack would sometimes go on about knowing teen Lily, when his intro to the show revolved around Lily (who was in jail at the time) not recognizing him.

I'm wondering if someone can help me out. I recently rewatched the Tom & Margo wedding episode (1983-06-01), and there are a few characters that I have trouble identifying. I've managed to capture some screenshots, which I will attach.

The first one I think is Cricket, whom I have seen in only one or two other episodes and am therefore not sure of. Is it indeed her?

The second was seen with Kim at the wedding, but since the whole event is such an impromptu gathering, he might not be related to Kim story-wise (he came from a tennis match, apparently). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a good close-up, but you can make him out next to Kim in the shot. Side note: I love Kathryn Hays and Kim, but the carrying-around-a-dog-look seems like a rather extreme departure of the character's essence, no?

The third one appeared from a limo with Barbara. During the close-up shot the music was rather ominous. I got the impression he's some sort of bodyguard, but I also got the impression he's not who he's pretending to be. I believe Barbara is married to Gunnar at this time, right? Any idea who this man is?

Thanks in advance!

    • I also really enjoyed Eva's scenes with Kat today. They have an interesting chemistry. I thought it did feel a bit like sisters at conflict. Especially with the way that Eva was trying to convince Kat to forgive Ted and them both coming to the conclusion that the man they thought was their father was different wasn't who they really thought he was initially. And the way that Eva broke down when Kat said that she was dead to her was good stuff. I really do think that in spite of their conflict/bickering Eva really would have loved to have gained a sister, along with a brother, father, etc... Also, I thought it was interesting how Eva kept saying that she loves Ted and Nicole. That and Leslie mentioning that Kat/Eva are almost twins really does make me wonder if Kat may really be her twin and Nicole's as well. I would gladly welcome that outcome, even if it takes a while for it to come out. Leslie doesn't deserve Eva as a daughter as far as I'm concerned. And I would forward to a storyline where we found out that she's Nicole's second baby girl, and all the complex and ultimately happy feelings that would bring Nicole. Eva/Kat could still have a rivalry, especially if Nicole ended up bonding more with Eva. And then we could get the rest of the family's reaction to that as well.

What you NOT gonna do to me!
    • Bravo to every single person responsible for today's episode. From the writer on down to Kraft services. Yall I'm getting emotional but I wish my granny was here to have seen this soap since she was the one to introduce me to this medium.

    • Everything is fraught with confusion. Why is Leslie pleading with the Duprees to accept Eva? She's not biological family so what is this? She's the product of an affair with their in-law so Leslie wants them to accept her? I'm getting GOOD TIMES vibes of Leslie and Eva minus the physical abuse.
    • Big fan of today's writing. In particular, I like EJ complexity, crying over Johnny and conspiring at the same is tough to pull off in the same episode, but it goes very far in explaining EJ's motives. I don't hate the idea of Cat and EJ, and I especially appreciate everyone trying to warn her, but she is sticking to the plan. Boy oh boy, when Brandon Beemer wears a shirt that matches his eyes, I get lost in the screen!
    • Yeah, I think that Leslie's speech would have had a bit more of an impact if Ted had been the Dupree's son, with Nicole being the daughter in law they loved like a daughter. But being that he's the son in law, and that Eva (at least not right now) isn't technically a Dupree, it doesn't hold as much weight. They aren't caring much for Ted right now and their feelings could be trickling down to Eva. Though, I do think they have some sympathy for her. I really enjoyed today's show. Loved a stripped, down hurt but still strong in her resolve Nicole. DD continues to shine and shows why she is IMO the heart of the show. I felt her words, and anger at Ted and how she broke down in Kat's arms at the end. She is just wonderful all the way around. I also loved the way that Anita read Leslie. She was spot on about her and how mishandled everything with Ted and Eva. And speaking of Leslie... I immediately thought the same thing once I saw that scene. That what she exhibited was trash behavior. I don't think she's a good mother. In fact, I think she's lousy. Granted, I have missed some episodes, but I haven't really seen her do anything to indicate that she really cares for Eva or her well being. All she's really done is try and manipulate/use Eva for her own agenda since she came to town.
    • I thought Brandon C was much more believable as Martin today.  Before, I watched an actor trying to portray a character.  Friday and today, I simply felt the character.
    • The way Leslie uses her love shower Eva with and then snatches it away when Eva doesn’t do what she wants is something that should be focused on down the road.    Great end to the episode overall and kudos to the writing and production team for carefully executing all of this.
