What happened with DAYS? They were beating the odds then they imploded. How could Higley be doing so well then SO badly?

It was the headline. (No offense Errol!) I knew when I saw "OLTL tanks!" it was all over.

NBC cannot be happy. THey thought DAYS was going to go on a ratings surge but IMO NO SOAP has had good ratings this year. It's only going to get worse.

The thing with DAYS is they had one strong story last year, and when that was over, they had nothing else to keep the momentum going. When I catch the occasional episode on SoapNet, it just all feels really hallow and lifeless.

DAYS was very boring from March to Mid-August with nothing much happening. They used that time to build up this EJ-getting-busted- storyline......they were building up to these past two weeks and well, it didn't pay off in the ratings. The show just doesn't have any momentum like they did in 2009.

I honestly don't give a crap if AMC is pitted against OLTL. I'm just more curious how OLTL is considered to be "tanking" when AMC has lost more in the demos from a year ago, second only to Days? Also OLTL is up in total viewers from a year ago.

Even though this stuff with EJ flopped, shouldn't we also take into account what time of the year this is happening?

Spoilers indicate a very interesting falls, with lots of story movement. I can see them getting the ratings back up to 2.0 and 2.1's, but certainly not the consistent 3 million+ of 2009/early 2010.

Well like others have said, once the baby switch ended there was NOTHING else going on. They tried to rush Carly's story for February sweeps, and once all that happened, stories just aimlessly wondered around and stalled. Then, add in the show's focus on the Alice tribute/funeral, and it all got messy. The fall should bring faster pace in the stories, which is already been evident on-screen.

DAYS is doing bad right now, but it isn't going anywhere. NBC is trying to rebuild its daytime schedule with Days as the centerpiece with The Real Housewives reruns and such. Plus, they are going to HD. Why would Corday invest seven figures into it, if he wasn't sure he had a vote of confidence from NBC to do so? Nothing to worry about right now, but if things don't change this fall/winter, then Higley needs to go.

I have watched every episode of OLTL since October of 2003 and will continue to do so.

When a show such as GH has a decrease of 107K viewers one week and then rebounds with a gain of 144K viewers, it's more of a correction than a great week IMO. Look at the demos-basically the same. Look at the dailies. One day of 2.1 and then back down to 1.8-1.9. That cannot be considered a great week either. Great because it's the end of August and soap ratings are notoriously poor at this time? That's not good enough.

It's almost like the soap executives do the least they can do to keep their jobs, but not enough to keep viewers.

Should we be that excited over a GH "spike" when they lost ratings or barely gained over several weeks, in spite of a very expensive return campaign for someone who was endlessly hyped as a huge star? Now they have a ratings increase when she meets her big soulmate -- should they be praised for barely meeting expectations?

Why am I not surprised that Y&R lost ratings in the buildup to the repulsive wedding.

OLTL's ratings are very erratic. I often wonder if people try to watch again and then flee and then try again.
