LOL...I wonder how Carly would react if she walked in on them kissing. She knows somethnig happened to him in prison that he wont talk about. What if she suspects that he had a gay experience and jumps to conclusions and assumes soemthing is going on between him and Spinelli when she notices their close connection? I can just see her flipping out making a fool out of herself

OMG, I wish they would DO something about Carly's Playboy Bunny hair. They trotted that [!@#$%^&*] out (+ stripper outfit) for a second consecutive episode.

Claire + Diane = me wondering why these two are not on the frontburner. I'd much rather watch them than that show pony Carly stomping and snorting and trotting her way around the PCPD.

They need to get her the HELL out of Rome and this lame-ass Brenda-in-peril SL involving a children's charity we are meant to believe she lives for and get her the hell back to PC. Her talking to characters we don't know or care about is like white noise to me. She needs to be confiding in Robin.

what was the point of Sonny even going to Rome? I thought they were going to go on an adventure but their reunion lasts all of 2 days and he's back in town and she's right where she was. I cant belevie he came back without her. I hate the pacing of her story and the writing behind her return. Its fail all around

Sonny is mad and calling Claire out on willing to send an innocent man (himself) to prison for a crime he did not commit. Um didnt he frame the Lopez brothers for the attempted muder of Johnny last month when he planted a car bomb?

Brenda's return is hands down one of the worst returns Ive ever watched on a soap. This sh-t is boring as hell. Weeks and no progress. Its practically the same played out scenes with her everyday

It does nothing for her figure. She really shouldnt be wearing tight stuff like that. She doesnt have the curves to pull it off

Guiding Light Discussion Thread

What I liked about Bloss is that I liked how they grew to be the stable couple- the closest to an Ed and Mo in their prime. Especially after the Tori story when their extra-marital exploits were in the past. I wanted them to SORAS the three kids, along with Dinah and with Phillip's family as Ross's extended family would really be solid core family material.
With that said, I was rooting against Bloss in 1999 as I really liked the Ross/India pairing-- but that just turned out to be a waste of MKA.

They did actually resolve who shot Austin over a year later (it was Cyrus, as part of his hasty exit story). That was a last minute save though clearly when they forgot lol.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's

The return of sitcoms' popularity in the mid-'80s was a real thing, but the crash of the wealth-based nighttime soap genre was resonate and self-induced.

There was an effectively grim finality to the mood of the cliffhangers in the Spring of 1985: Bobby's death, the Moldavian massacre, the return of Val's babies... and they felt as if they could have ended right there (and perhaps they should have, although I would have sorely missed S10 of Dallas, S6 of FC, and Season 9 of Dynasty , and the next five years of KNOTS as they singularly maintained quality).

But, wow, these shows just fell apart post-Spring 1985. They stopped being character dramas after a while, and just started trying to "impress" viewers in some superficial way and to "fake it" somehow.

What a painful, unnecessary slide it was. But once these shows seemed to lose their identities, their sense of self, their momentum into the dung heap couldn't be slowed.

It is very strange. They have insisted on having 30+ contract players for years now. If they had less cast, they could up everyone's episode guarantees, balance the cast out more. Like 20-25 would be perfect. Have everyone else recur.
If you look back at the history of the show, especially in the 1970s and in the 2010s, whenever the show was at it's most successful, it had smaller casts. Audience relate to the characters more, because they see more of them. In 2009 and 2013, the show had arguable it's most successful periods since the early 2000s (ratings wise that is). They had smaller casts and focused on 3 or 4 stories the whole year. That's what they should be doing at this point. Have a few umbrella stories, that last the whole year, and involve the whole cast. But again, before that, fix who we see on screen cause.....😬
