Please register in order to view this content It was interesting to hear the rumor about how Newhart would end, given the actual finale is in the annals as one of the more interesting series finales of all time. I was in high school at this time, so not following Friday night television. It still could have gone on, I suppose, but Angela's speech (written by Jane herself) really did feel like an end. I laugh that the late Earl hamner sidnt want the show to turn into another Dallas..yet is does just that in the 2nd season. Seeing the first few episodes, im not thinking Julia's change into a psycho makes perfect sense.
